Download Reshade. Start install. Search for OblivionRemastered.exe. Set DirectX 10/11/12. Finish install. Put Ayleid.ini in /Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64 folder, next to Reshade.ini. Start the game, press POS1 to open reshade overlay. Load Ayleid.ini. Press POS1 again to close overlay. Done.
1. Download Reshade from Reshade.me 2. Open the reshade.exe 3. Select Oblivion Remastered, click "next". 4. Choose "DirectX10/11/12 (should already be selected), click "next". 5. A list will come up, make sure that SweetFXbyCeejay.DK has a tick next to it and NOT a box. Click "Next". 6. Click "Finish". Reshade is now installed for Oblivion Remastered. Now for this Ayleid Reshade...
1. Copy "Ayleid2.ini" to where your game/reshade is installed. E.g = D/Games/Steamapps/Common/Oblivion Remastered/OblivionRemastered/Binaries/Win64 and paste it here. You should see a folder called "reshade shaders" if you have correctly installed reshade. 2. In game, press "home", and go through the tutorial or skip it. 3. After step 2, press the dropdown box at the top of the reshade window and select "ayleid2.ini". Click apply (or whatever it is). 4. Press "active on top" and you should have about 6 settings all ticked. (DPX, Levels, Lumasharpen etc). This step isnt necesary, but it cleans it up a little. 5. Go to Settings at the top of the reshade window, and click on "Effect toggle", apply a key to it. I use Insert. You can then toggle the effect on/off on the fly.
Usually if the settings arent ticked, there is normally a step that you have missed. I used to do it all the time :D
Uninstall reshade, go through steps 1 - 3 again, and instead, click uninstall. And then start again.
Usually the culprit is when you get to step 5 and there is a list of different packages you can get which has all kinds of different reshades effects. Make sure that "SweetFX by Ceejay.DK" has a TICK and NOT a box. That way, that whole reshade package will get installed. If its a box, then you have to select each one manually. That will be my guess on why there is nothing ticked. So make sure that it has a tick next to it before carrying on to step 6 @SteelJumpa
Weirdly it started working randomly with the latest filter update, but didn't work on the earlier ones. No idea what fixed it but I won't complain, bye bye piss filter haha.
Any chance you know how to get ReShade to work with the Steam overlay? I know there used to be a workaround by renaming d3d11.dll to dxgi.dll, but that doesn't seem to be relevant anymore. I've seen other Steam players get their overlay working with ReShade though and I can't find any info online :[
i know how to make it work for gamepass. - target the exe of another direct x 12 game.. (i made a new folder, copied a dx12 exe into it) then install reshade into that folder by targeting that exe with reshade.
then all the files it makes, including the one you downloaded here from nexus... move them into: Game pass\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content, where this exe is: gamelaunchhelper.exe ...... not the game exe... it works
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Wolfbleidd. The first line of your advice was what I needed most. I've been using a lot of mods since Fallout 3, but for many people, including me, "you can't reach what you don't know." Your advice has helped people at all levels of knowledge. Thank you again.
if anyone pressed "home" and nothing happened, run the .exe for oblivion as admin. dont use shortcut, use the actual .exe and run as admin. when you boot you should see some text at the top of the screen. I think you can change the bind from "home" to something else.
Wolfbleidd I just want to give you my thanks, never used a reshader before and you saved me likely a lot of time having to go watch a video of it. Amazing step by step directions <3

if you're on Windows, hit Windows key then search and open "On-Screen Keyboard"
I'm playing thru Game Pass. Had to put the game in Borderless (Options>Graphics>Window Mode) first, then open OSK, click back in the game, then click the Home button
I've installed reshade.exe. I've copied Ayleid2.ini to the specified location. Like others have said, I could not find a home button or option. I tried loading the keyboard overlay and keep pressing home, as another person has said to do -- that does nothing. I don't see a reshade window. The directions need directions.
This is VaultsofErowid's fix to get it to work on GamePass for PC which worked for me... I corrected his path though, he had Game Pass instead of XboxGames.

It did work for me. You might want to add this to your great tutorial Wofbleidd for the other Game Pass players like me.
Thanks Wolfbleidd. OP, why dont you just paste this in the description????
Heads up to anyone who may be confused about the "drop down" commen, it's a reshade preset, not a reshade addon. So it's not a tickbox. You have to click the "folder" icon on the Home menu and navigate to the Ayleid2 folder.
Reshade is giving my a game a fatal error every time I start up. Uninstalling Reshade fixes it. I am using Gamepass though. I'll try that other commenter's fix.
not sure how 'download reshade' wasn't the first instruction provided by the uploader, just hopped on nexus mods to check out some of these mods and the modders are describing stuff like their only talking to oblivion mod vets
hey, i followed this exactly and I can get the reshade popup to show up, and I can select the ayleid preset, but nothing happens in game. Does anyone have an idea for a fix?
Wolfbleidd, you are a Legend. Thank you very much for detailed installation guide. Was doing for the first time of my life and with your instruction everything worked perfectly. Now, it's a true nostalgia time.
anything downloaded off the microsoft store is HIDDEN. I tried looking for my Gears of War install folders and they are hidden and the files are encrypted so u cant even do anythign with them. Remind me whats the difference between Games for Windows Live & Game Pass again?
Ok, so I found something for this. Go to the folder where there is the ReShade.ini. Open it with notepad. Find the "[INPUT]" header, then underneath find a line that says something like "KeyMenu=36,0,0,0" Replace it the first number (which is the code for the home button) with another one on your keyboard. Save and exit. To know which code for which key : https://www.toptal.com/developers/keycode Ye're welcome.
Looks great overall, only concern, which is a small one, is the reshade turns the stamina bar blue to the point its almost indistinguishable from the magicka bar
Copy another games .exe, and paste it into a new folder, I named that folder "reshader"
Choose that .exe in the reshader folder when installing reshader
All the files that download in that reshader folder, and the Ayleid file, move over to the Game pass\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content, where this exe is: gamelaunchhelper.exe
Once in game, you will see a loading bar appear on the top of the screen. When it's finished loading, hit the HOME key, located directly above your arrows keys. You have to select Ayleid from the file drop down menu in the reshader menu, then you have to go into the settings tab and set a key for "toggle shaders". I chose the END key (located near the HOME key)
It seems the app will freeze and become unresponsive when interacting with a second monitor. I would have to end task and restart. Any potential fixes?

I have edited my post to rectify. My apologies.

DPX, Levels, LumaSharpen, LiftGammaGain, Technicolor2, Tonemap.
Edit: Figured it out. Press 'home' again.

Thanks to your tip, I was finally able to install Ayleid Reshade. God bless you!

I don't know how to delete it, so I changed the content.

i forget this trick with the xbox games folders striclty locked by default
because I don't have Win64 there
Thanks. That worked for the gamepass version.
It wasn't C:\Game Pass
This is a must have mod. I didn't realize how dead it all looked until I found this mod.

With this it drops to low 50s, a very noticeable difference
