Yeah I didn't get how so many people were gushing over it, saying it was so hard to let go...it's just a sword with soul trap on it?? One of the worst weapons to have soul trap on because you don't want it on your main weapon if it's on any weapon at all, you're just going to waste charges hitting them over and over. Just put it on a dagger and do the killing blow with it, or better yet, learn the spell.
Tried to use no enchantment version, but seems it does not allow to enchant it. There's a [NL] tag appeared, but it still does not allow to enchant it, Maybe because it's also a quest item so it blocks enchanting in some way?
1) You can remove NL tag with NL tag removed mod 2) You need to fully finish quest (i.e. tell Clavicus Vile that you keep the sword) for the item to lose the Quest item status -> Become enchantable.

Yeah the conflict is sad to have to choose between more damage or enchant customization. I'd love to have another option to combine the double damage and enchant customization! I'm not smart enough to make that on my own, otherwise I would ASAP.
Also you can't enchant Umbra while it's a quest item. Once you complete the quest, you can freely enchant it.
It does allow to enchant Umbra, maybe not when it's a quest Item. About the conflict part, it's a quirk of the engine, nothing I can do about it. This is the reason merge patchs are so famous in OG Oblivion.
For the life of me I can not get the mod to work it just crashes out which is easy to fix but I could use so help on the installation process I did it manually and changed the txt file then i tried a mod manager but both wont get the no enchantment to work.

Works perfectly mid-save on an Umbra already equipped and as a quest item. Thank you! Is there any chance that you'd be able to have an option remove the enchant entirely to allow for customization?
Hmmm. I deleted the BetterUmbraEnchant and replaced it with UmbraNoEnchant, but the sword still has the original Soul Trap enchantment. Same mid-save, quest item version of the sword. Any idea for a fix? I have the NL Fix mod if that might be affecting it somehow? Or if you maybe only removed the enchant for the final weighted version of the sword?
Yep you were exactly right. I'm using a balance mod that affects the damage of weapons. In my plugins.txt file I moved UmbraNoEnchant.esp to be after the balance mods and the sword is now properly unenchanted (unfortunately losing the damage change of the balance mod, however). Thank you for the help!
Yep in Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data. And add "BetterUmbraEnchant.esp" to the Plugins.txt file in the same folder.
