After installing, the bindings are all set wrong and there is no way to change it in game. The left and right D-pad buttons are set to up and down, and the select button is square, not X.
I just found out how do actually do this here are the steps 100% work (This may look the similar to another post in this form but they got the steps wrong)
1. navigate to D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Ori DE\oriDE_Data (or whereever you installed it, might be C for you or whatever harddrive) and backup that Ori DE folder
2. Then download the UnityEX.exe from whatever site you like and put that into your oriDE_Data folder.. then download the mod, open the zip folder and drag "Unity_Assets_Files" folder into the oriDE_Data Folder. (This is the step that most people miss. Check that it is the main folder and Not The Two Individual folders. There is only one folder that needs to be dragged.)
3. Start UnityEX.exe, navigate to the same folder you extract all the things into, open sharedassets0.assets and simply click import (yes, nothing else, the program imports the mod files automatically), repeat the same thing with resources.assets, then close the program
Tried it with Will of the Wisps just to see: the only thing it changed was the image of the controller in the setting, not the prompts. Would be cool if someone can make this mod for that game :)
Here a simple explanation for everyone wondering how this works while not being a native speaker because I figured it out after some trial and error:
1. navigate to D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Ori DE\oriDE_Data (or whereever you installed it, might be C for you or whatever harddrive) and backup that Ori DE folder
2. Then download the UnityEX.exe from whatever site you like and put that into your oriDE_Data folder.. then download the mod, open the zip folder, go into the folder "Unity_Assets_Files" and extract both folders in there, "sharedassets0 and "resources" into the oriDE_Data Folder.
3. Start UnityEX.exe, navigate to the same folder you extract all the things into, open sharedassets0.assets and simply click import (yes, nothing else, the program imports the mod files automatically), repeat the same thing with resources.assets, then close the program
4. start the game, you are done
It's super simple, but the explanation it weird and it's difficult to understand that the program automatically detects the extracted folders and does the rest of the work for you by importing the files into the .assets files you open. It's not rocket science and probably super easy for people that know this program.
Have fun, I hope I can help any lost non native speakers to get this mod to run properly!

Just enable Steam Input and it should fix the issue.
