I like the coloration, and very much appreciate that there's also a helmet mod so my lightweight armor and helmet will match... but I think it would be better if this mod didn't also remove the hip-cape.
I can actually do that pretty easily I'll just put the original hip-cape back in because the original hip-cape is black enough to begin with I think?
I can actually probably do that tonight...
Question: Should I also make a version of the Hexolite Heat Resistant armor that has the hip-cape still? I initially removed it for the fact that extra cloth on an armor designed for lava seems weird... But I can do that too if you think there'd be interest?
That sounds good, yes! Personally, I like the way the hip-capes look in general, I think they add a nice bit of flair, and balance out your character's silhouette similar to how a cape or a cloak would, while being much more manageable.
I get what you're saying about keeping cloth away from fire, but just think of it as the sort of fire-resistant cloth they use for movie stunts and stuff like that. Full disclosure, since getting the +2 climate undershirt, I personally haven't really cared much about any of the climate-specific armors. ^_^; But I'd say if it's not too much work, then absolutely make it an option for the Heat resistant armor, too.

Still, could it be doable to not have the red scale at the back? There is no red anywhere else, I think black or orange would fit much better.

EDIT: Turns out it'll take just a little bit longer, won't have it out tonight but will soon. Thanks again for the suggestion!
It's on this mod's files' page as an alternative
