PERSONA 4 GOLDEN: SHADOW LOSER OPENING MOVIE MOD - 1.0

What's this? A mod for a game that isn't Yakuza? It's true.

This mod replaces the opening music for the opening movie with "Loser" by Eikichi Yazawa, featured in the Yakuza 3 opening (JP ver.).

REQUIREMENTS:

- Persona 4 Golden installed
- Aemulus Package Manager installed

To install Aemulus Package Manager, go to this link and follow the directions under 2.4. Aemulus Package Manager:

https://gamebanana.com/tuts/13379

If you already have Aemulus Package Manager installed, you're ready to install my mod.

DIRECTIONS:

1. Extract the shadowlosermod_1.4 folder wherever you want.

2. Navigate to your "Persona 4 Golden" packages folder (this is wherever you downloaded/installed Aemulus Package Manager, if you followed the tutorial listed above it will most likely be under C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\P4G Mods\Tools\Aemulus Package Manager\Packages\Persona 4 Golden

3. Place the ENTIRE Shadow Loser Opening Movie Mod 1.0 folder into this folder.

4. Close out of File Explorer and open Aemulus Package Manager if you haven't had it open already.

5. Click the "Refresh Packages in Grid" (two circle arrows) button and wait for the application to refresh.

6. Find "Shadow Loser Opening Movie Mod" in the list and tick the box to the left so that it is enabled. If you have other mods that have already been installed (I.E. you installed the P4G Community Enhancement Pack), it will be at the bottom of the list. You can move the mod to wherever you want it to be in the list.

7. Click "Build and Merge Packet Loadout" (hammer) and click "OK" when prompted to delete and re-build your mods folder.

8. Once building and merging is complete, launch Persona 4 Golden from your preferred source with mods enabled. The easiest way to do this is to click the "Launch Persona 4 Golden" icon (spaceship/rocket) in Aemulus Packet Manager.

And that's it! You'll see the opening movie play with Loser instead of Shadow World, with some slight edits to the video.

REPORT:

1.0: The quality is poor, poorer than what would be good. Despite the poor quality, the file size is still large (>80mb) and this causes stuttering regardless of the computer system. I don't know how to fix these things without working on this for another six hours straight. I just wanted to have fun!

1.1: The quality is still poor and there is still stuttering, but the file size has been reduced to just above 80mb. Baby steps.

1.2: As it turns out, the original opening quality is relatively poor too. Another attempt was made to reduce file size, it remained the same, there is still stuttering.

1.3: This time, the video was encoded using q:v rather than choosing a bitrate.

1.4: How necessary is it to keep updating this decimal? Tried adjusting the audio bitrate instead. After setting the framerate down manually and using a video bitrate of 10000kbps and an audio bitrate of 421kbps, the resultant file is larger than 80mb (~109mb) but the video quality is... a bit better. Kind of.

HOW TO UNINSTALL:

If you want to disable the mod, this is what you need to do:

1. Open Aemulus Package Manager.

2. Tick the box next to "Shadow Loser Opening Movie Mod 1.0" so it is no longer checked.

3. Click "Build and Merge Packet Loadout" (hammer) and click "OK" when prompted to delete and re-build your mods folder.

4. Once building and merging is complete, launch Persona 4 Golden from your preferred source with mods enabled. The easiest way to do this is to click the "Launch Persona 4 Golden" icon (spaceship/rocket) in Aemulus Packet Manager.

The mod will be disabled and you will return to watching the normal opening with Shadow World.
