Okay, didn't know it uses Unreal Engine.
Use the Universal Unreal Engine 4 Unlocker, it might be able to do that already.

Happy to report that this works just fine already! :)
I'm yet to do the battle UI and I think it's good to go when that's done.
I also went ahead and killed as much of the "over head" icons as I could, but some wonkyness remains for the moving ones. I assume they left motion vectors on for them and thats why there's a bit of distortion/blur from TAA left even with the shaders skipped.

I wasted so much time messing with raytracing.. :D
Sadly there isn't really an option that makes sense as each of them has a flaw I can't seem to work around. If you wanna see for yourself though, many UE Raytracing cvars work.
Actually, there's gonna be a somewhat fiddly RT Reflection "extension"  up as well once they approve P3R. Glad I fiddled with that stuff.

hey, so of course since it couldn't work on first try, I've got a few things to report
first of all I'm on the game pass version, using newest reshade and your V1 preset
so at first the game crashed on launch but just had to install into the gamehelper.exe folder instead of p3r.exe
and so reshade overall worked perfectly fine, all your filters also worked, but, the hud always stayed on
I fiddled around the keybinds and other settings but neither the main menu hud or in-game (overworld) could be hidden
I gave V2 a try, I pressed the button for the hud-less screenshot but the screenshot came out normal (I did only try main menu, not overworld)
thanks for all your hard work anyhow

Ah you misunderstood - It worked already on a new mod on my end. The version for P3R is on it's own page. P3R got approved today
The stuff you said about the gamepass version might still apply though

oh I'm so glad it's just a misunderstanding, I'll go check out the actual p3r version now

well for whatever reason I can't post a comment under the p3 ui toggler so I'll put it here for now:

glad to report that it works great on the game pass version!
when installing reshade you have to point it at gamelaunchhelper.exe instead of p3r.exe otherwise the game will crash on startup
then, the shader toggler ini has to go into the p3r.exe folder like you stated in the guide

all hotkeys were already setup like on your screenshot so no need to edit each of them, except for personal preference
though, the battle ui shader is missing from the list, maybe you uploaded a version without it?

thanks for making this mod so fast!

Glad it works, I'll add the Gamepass info to the decription!
The Battle UI uses the same shaders as most of the other UI, so no need for an extra group this time :)

i have only these mods on, and when using it with this reshade preset, everything looks a little blown up, somewhat like vanilla, but other effects are still applied, any idea?

    mods:
    Persona Essentials
    Battle Music Randomizer
    Confidant Cheat Sheet
    Crossword Puzzle Cheat Sheet
    Persona 5 Royal: Colorful Pack
    Original Persona 5 Font
    Classroom Cheat Sheet
    Negotiation Cheat Sheet
    Thief masks on DLC Outfits
    No Hold Up Music
    PS4 Field Textures
    No Kaleidoscope

edit:nvm i just replaced the included special k dll with the one i was using(the one from the guide on gamebanana) and it works wonders

Whoa. The heaviest effect is GloomAO iirc, you can try disabling that.
If you wanna be sure, checking the settings tab and looking for GPU time (x.xxx ms) can tell you which is the heaviest. Higher is worse.

Figured out that It's not really your mod that tanks performance, it's the game and how s#*! the port is. If anyone ever faces the same issue, search for DXVK patch and you'll see a big QoL in fps/stutters in this game. Sorry I dodn't say it first time but great mod indeed, I thought the perfo issues were associated with it.

    Encountering a strange issue.

I uploaded the pictures in the images tab so you could see, but I seem to be getting images burned into certain animations from previously viewed cutscenes. It's most noticeable in All Out Attacks where the image of a previous cutscene will be burned into the screen.

Anyone else encounter this issue or know how to fix it?

I think it is a side effect of the disabling of shaders..
I've had it sometimes and not as severe as you. I could vaguely make out what was "overlayed" but man you can clearly tell in your case :/

Restarting will fix it, I'm sorta confident loading a save might do it too.

My theory would be that something that, I assume captures the last moment of a cutscene, relies on the shader that we disabled to exist. And since it doesn't the something can't complete the task it's meant to do and thus doesn't release that screenshot. Why it overlays it in all out attacks is beyond me though.. :')

Sorry to be a bit of a pain, but I was curious if you could just confirm that I'm installing the mod correctly.

      • First, I downloaded and ran ReShade from your link.
      • Once launched, I chose Persona 5 Royal.
      • Then I chose DirectX 10/11/12
      • Skipped the "Select preset to install" screen
      • Checked Depth3D (and unchecked SweetFX, though I'm not sure if having it matters or not, let me know, because I'd like to have their SMAA instead of using the games' version)
      • Clicked next, then finish.
      • Once ReShade was installed, I dragged your presets into my "steamapps/common/P5R" folder
      • Once I was in game, I pressed end to enable the preset. (I also unchecked GloomAO because I didn't like the way the usually flat silhouettes had shading, though enabling or disabling it never really changed the All Out Attack issue)

EDIT: After doing this, it now says Overhatch.fxh is missing :(

Oh. I'm not sure if reinstalling fixes it.
Can you confirm that it was there all the time ?
I think it could be connected to story progress too, hence why I don't really remember it well on my end.
(I just went in-game real quick to check. It's not present, quite far story progress.)
Just happened on a different all out. Weird.

Alright, I think I got it. It even seems to retain the game native bloom which would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet for certain areas like the castle.
Downside for people disliking it is I can't find the bloom in that tool at all lmao

So basically it's gonna look closer to what P5 looks like unmodded, but without the crazy colorgrading.
      Hahaha that's awesome.
Thanks for "being a bit of a pain". I initially didn't get the SpecialK method to work at all, but it does now. With the added benefit that as I mentioned it doesn't just nuke the entire post processing!

Awesome! I'm glad that my post was able to at least help you to learn some new thing.

Unfortunately, no matter what I do now, the game crashes if I use your mod. I've tried using different ReShade versions, clean reinstalling the whole game, adding the Overwatch.fxh file from the Depth3D github page, etc. None of it worked, so I think I just somehow broke it :p I think I might just mess around with ReShade's settings and see what I can get.

Awesome preset though! When it was working for me, it looked amazing! :')

Oh interesting, how do I do that?

Edit: I assume it's supposed to be the delete key, but that didn't do anything for me.

Fixed it! It was 'page down' not 'delete'. Works now, I'll lyk if the All Out Attack thing still happens, though, you did say it was happening to you too, right?

According to the description, press delete. I hope it really is that, it's been a while.. :D
      well s#*! lol
You can rename the reshade-shaders folder temporarily and set your own hotkey in reshades overlay (home/pos1), settings tab
It's to do with reshade compiling the shaders I think, so if there are none you should be able to start the game normally.

Ah damn, I'll edit the description then. Glad you got it though.
The new files I uploaded do work (without the all out issue so far) but it seems that I need to disable a lot more than just one shader.
So if you notice that one not working somewhere, can you tell me? I'm currently checking as many areas as I can with my saves, but can't check all especially the earlier ones.

Seems like it behaves like normal outside of palaces. All post processing nuked. So seemingly palaces only - but that's still something
Especially with the all out issue gone

There are definitely shaders that rely on each other.. Sometimes when I disable an additional shader to the one who I thought was disabling all post processing, the bloom/lens flare comes back. The image itself gets darker though. Black magic.

Yep, just drop it in! Might wanna backup the already modded folder in case you wanna go back.

So I tried it out and the first things I noticed were that I couldn't screenshot the game anymore and that I was having some weird bloom effects that would persist on the foremost layer of the screen. I see bloom where there should be no bloom basically. I was seeing it in Yongen

Oh the screenshot stuff might be SpecialK's fault. It can do hudless screenshots (gotta set that up, it's also shader disabling. I might'Ve done it already), HDR screenshots and so on.
Press ctrl+shift+backspace to open SK's overlay, it has it's own screenshot section.

I'll have a look about the wrong bloom
Alright at least I caught that day time uses yet another shader for colorgrading.. No odd bloom, though

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't at my computer over the weekend but I got a chance to try out the new version this morning and it works great! All Out Attacks are fixed, bloom looks great in the Castle, and overall things run very smoothly.

A couple things I did notice were that I can no longer seem to edit things in the ReShade menu. When I press home, I'm unable to click on anything in the menu (this could be that I was playing on the first version of the mod and then just dragged all the new files in. Might not occur for someone who installs only the second version). Additionally, the bloom in outdoor areas still persists, though it's not as bad as it was before. I'm able to actually toggle them off permanently in an area if I press 'end'. Weirdly enough, this doesn't turn off the other settings, just the bloom, so it's a sorta janky workaround at the very least. Also, the bloom will come back when traveling to another area, but can be turned off again by pressing 'end'.

Other than that, I think it looks great! I love how it allows you to see into previously dark areas, like the corners of Joker's bedroom. I also love how it removes the bloom that occurs in vanilla on peoples' faces. Everyone's so shiny for some reason in vanilla. The colors are an improvement too imo.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. If you can figure out the bloom lmk. Also, lmk if the ReShade menu works for you

The ReShade menu is my bad hahaha
SpecialK can turn off mouse / keyboard / gamepad input to the game. (ctrl+shift+backspace, Input menu)
I turned that off as it made maintaining the same angle for the new screenshots much easier
I actually didn't intend for ReShade to still disable shaders honestly, but if it works for you, nice.

And as for the bloom, thanks for posting those screenshots. I never had that happen.
That might be due to ReShade messing with the games shaders too I think. Looks exactly like the "burned in" past scenes on the all outs
I meant to have the new archive overwrite ReShades stuff, but I guess it didn't in your case..? I used the non-addon version of ReShade for it, which should disable addons (so the shader toggler)
      I didn't. I meant to though....

To explain, SpecialK injects ReShade alongside with itself. Thats why dxgi.dll is now SK and ReShade comes as ReShade64.dll

Pressing end doesn't do anything for me, btw. Seems that on your end there is a shader still active that isn't on my end.
Actually, do you mind uploading your savegames somewhere? I can quickly check if its the time of year or not. I don't have a savegame this early anymore. :/

Hey, can't seem to replicate it. Thanks for uploading the saves anyway though!
It's meant to be a drop-in and forget type of solution so you're good just extracting the archive into the game folder

You know whats cool though? I just tried something I wanted to do on release, but since SK didn't work the way it does now back then I couldn't..

      :eyes:

Basically, texture injection works as long as the format is the same. A higher resolution doesn't seem to bother the engine.
I think some people do this on gamebanana already, but they edit the game files, which is a lot bigger of a hassle.

Hey, I have a specific request, is it possible to only remove only UI elements (chat bubble, currency and menu options) in Jose's mementos store?

I don't think so. I disabled only one hud shader, and since stuff you want and don't want are both using that shader, no toggling them on their own sadly.
Same issue with the post processing, I really didn't wanna remove as much as I did. The color grading was my main concern..

Hey mate, absolutely love the work you've done on this.

Hi, thanks for the kind words!

Yup, done and ready to download.
I added the general blur thats present in battle as well, though that sadly kills off the bloom too.
Gun and general blur are seperate toggles ofc

Just drop in the new ShaderToggler.ini and you're good.
