Hello! First of all, I really thank you for creating this great mod!

By the way, is this mod compatible with your previous another great mod, HF FG Soulbound Upgrade Upgrade, which allows all Soulbound items to upgrade to Mythic? I mean, I wonder all of the Soulbound items that you've added from this mod can be upgraded to Mythic or not.

    Thanks in advance!

Oh yes, there'd be no issues with having both installed- that mod just edits the individual soulbound weapons in the base game and DLCs. You can upgrade all these to Mythic(or equivalent for the items which aren't armour/weapons/shields), but because Mythic is meant to be a super rare enchantment level I set it so the condition to unlock it is to defeat a megaboss

What is that one handed sword your character is holding in the image? Is that the healing sword? Can you share the stats of the healing sword and what it takes to make it? I don't see it in the spoiler text. Thanks!

    *addendum*
    nevermind figured it out!

I didn't quite make it clear enough in the mod, so just to warn you: the items you can create through the enchanting menu are kind of "decoys". I thought if you get the blank "ghost" sword and can unlock the soulbound greatsword OR make a healing sword then it might be a fun choice to get either the crafted item or the soulbound, but in practice there's also the possibility of seeing the recipe in the crafting menu and thinking "ah that must be how I get the soulbound then". If you want the soulbound greatsword you'll just need to examine the ghost sword with Ydwin in your party to unlock it!

These items are super creatively designed (the effects... the multiple possible uses... putting them in places that should have had awesome unique loot to begin with...) and AMAZINGLY written. The descriptions obviously have a lot of time and care put into them, and in many cases they're a lot better than the unique item descriptions/soulbound item stories in the base game. This is a must-use mod for me, tbh. Thank you for making it! :D

    Hi,
I found a glitch and a bug. The deflection bonus from the sword never disapear, even if I break the soulbound. In addition, every time you switch weapons and than back, the sword gives you another deflection stack. For ex. +12def, +3def, +5def ect...
As for the bug, your mod will corrupt the save file if you try to uninstal it. I tried every scenario I could think of. Like items on, off, SB, not SB, ... and every time, it corrupted the save file.

The deflection bug is an oversight, setting it to clear when combat ends should do it. I'm testing that now and will upload a corrected version shortly; I'm not certain it'll fix existing soulbounds (their properties seem to get "baked in" as they level up) but hopefully it'll help. Just install it in the same folder as the current one and overwrite anything, or delete the current folder and install the new one.

With regard to save corruption, I'm afraid I've been unable to replicate this. If I disable the mod with the items equipped it causes visual bugs but I can load a save either way. It might be something to do with an ability on one of the items? Could you let me know which items you have and how upgraded they are on which classes? Also do you have the items "iron-infused amulet" or "potion of warding"? If you can take some screenshots that'd save you typing a bunch of stuff out. Thanks!

I'm really sad the Greatsword doesn't bind to paladins, since that's the only member of my party that would use it.

I'm also wondering if the items go up to Mythic tier when they're finished? Like your "HF FG Soulbound Upgrade Upgrade" mod that's on the Steam Workshop?

They do, though the max upgrade for each item requires you to beat a megaboss.

I uploaded an optional file that might be useful for you: it's a replacement "items" file which makes the greatsword bindable to a Paladin. Soulbound weapons can be picky (with upgraded ones, if you change their data the weapon ignores it in the game) but I think this change should let it bind to Paladins as long as it isn't bound to anyone already. If you have a save from before you got the sword you can also load that and the changes will take effect right when you get it

      Just do this:
-open up the mod folder (PillarsOfEternityII_Data\override\hfsoulbounds\design\gamedata)
-make a backup of the "items" file in there, move it somewhere else on your computer so the game can't see it any more
-download the "items" archive under Miscellaneous and extract it into the mod folder

Thank you kindly! I can confirm it worked even though it was already bound to someone else, though they hadn't upgraded it yet.

Sorry to be a pain, but just after I had made my previous comment, I played and went to pick up the *spoilers?* greatsword and shield.

The other items seem to work fine, though I didn't *spoilers?*craft one of them. I had some issue with these ones, however. I crafted the former and it appears as a special weapon, yellow background, but not as a soulbound and has no option to bind (unless I'm forgetting a mechanic relating to binding an item that the character doesn't have proficiency in). The latter couldn't be found. I tried to buy it from where it is mentioned in the spoilers.txt, I tried to accomplish the request of that shopkeeper, and I tried killing said shopkeeper as well as looting the surrounding area.

Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something or if this was caused by a mod conflict or the mod load order.

That's me not being as good at communication as I thought, sorry. The recipes are actually there as "decoys" and the idea is that you'd, for example, pick up the Phantom Blade, see that it unlocks a recipe, and decide whether you want to use it in that recipe or unlock the soulbound sword.

As an apology for doing things in a kind of convoluted way, I uploaded another file called Backup. It sounds like you crafted the potion and the healing sword; if so, install the Backup mod in the same way as the main mod and hit OK to any overwrites. Then head to the Wild Mare and look in the southwest room, where you should find two soulbound items.

As for Birna: she should sell an item called Magically-Locked Box. To unlock it, you'll need to either have recruited Fassina, or got the unique grimoires from Amira's Roost or Tikawara Island- you shouldn't need to have them equipped, just in your stash. If you have then you'll see an inspect button on the locked box.

Hope that helps. Trust me, it all made sense at the time!

Thanks for the reply and the backup file! Those are both really clever ideas, so don't feel bad about that! I was probably being a little too impatient to pick up on the way to unlock them. I had assumed it was that I'd use the recipes to craft them and then I'd have the soulbounds; I think that's what happened with the locket, but I actually reverted back to a save because before doing so (I wanted to test it and spent most of my gold on ingredients to make the grenades but wanted to hold off on it while I had other stuff to buy). With the sword, I crafted it, but was confused by it not being a soulbound, but I didn't realize and saved progress w/ it, so the backup is greatly appreciated!

I hope this is more helpful than bothersome, but I still seem to be having trouble. I downloaded the backup, but nothing shows up in the Wild Mare. If it was supposed to be on the table in the SW room, I had already looted it prior to downloading either mod, so I'm not sure if that messes anything up.

I also realized that I had mixed up which items were which; I thought that the grub item was associated w/ the shield, not that it was the trinket. So that and the helmet are working as expected.

I have the recipe for the iron pendant object, but it seems like that is not the correct path to get the shield, is that right? I have Fasina, but I already examined the locked box and now seem unable to do so again. And the phantom blade still has no options other than the recipe that results in the unique weapon/yellow background, non-soulbound healing sword.

Odd! The way it should work is:
Helmet: found as loot at digsite
Sword: loot Phantom Blade from Temple of Gaun, right-click to examine it with Ydwin in your party, and you'll see an interact button which summons the soulbound. Or use it to make the healing sword
Shield: Buy Magically-Locked Box from Birna. If you have a grimoire that contains Kalakoth's Sunless Grasp (Fassina's Grimoire, the ones you find at Amira's Roost and Tikawara Island, or the Spindle Man's grimoire) then right-clicking will show an interact button to summon the soulbound. Or use it to make the amulet
Trinket: Buy the fossilized larva from the Spindle Man, right-click to see the interact button (no requirements) and summon the soulbound. Or use it to make the potion

The backup just detects if you have the potion and/or the healing sword in your inventory, and if so it puts the soulbound sword and/or trinket in that room in the Wild Mare- doesn't matter if you've looted it previously. I'll test it a bit more because I did knock it up in a  bit of a hurry.

I forget exactly what conditions I tested the box under; I'll have a go at seeing if I can replicate the issue where you can't examine it. If that's an easy issue to run into then I'm best just making the button appear with no conditions like the trinket!

So everything is fine with the other items, but I've still not figured out the shield. I have the magically locked box and recruited Fasina, but the item doesn't do anything anymore. I did interact with it before recruiting her and I can't recall what the description was, but I have the crafting recipe for the amulet only.

Are these two divergent paths and I've locked myself out of using it to get the shield even though I haven't actually crafted the amulet?

EDIT: Whoops! It worked now; my mistake was that Fassina's grimoire was equipped. I put it into her stash and tried, which opened it! Sorry about the multitude of messages; hopefully someone else will learn from my errors!

That's very weird... I've tested the box in a bunch of ways and I'm not sure what could cause that. Do you mean when you right click on the locked box nothing happens?

Basically, if you haven't ever gotten a grimoire that has Sunless Grasp in it, the box should look like this when you right-click: https://i.imgur.com/GC4gBa0.jpg

If you have gotten a grimoire with that spell then it'll look like this: https://i.imgur.com/uhYaRQi.jpg

You shouldn't need to have the grimoire equipped, or even in your inventory- if you've ever had that grimoire at all then you should be good to go, per the testing I've done. Maybe try unequipping Fassina's grimoire, if you haven't already? It's possible the game might not flag that spell as "discovered" until the grimoire is in your stash or inventory.

If that doesn't work then just craft the amulet and I'll add the shield to the backup file- going into the Wild Mare with the amulet in your inventory will then make the shield appear in the Wild Mare southwest room. I'll put that up tonight at some point!

E: great news! Hope you have fun with it after all this!

sorry for asking but how can I unlock the last power of the helmet? it described as "put an end to her madness" but I can't understand. Maybe since English is not my first language...

The last level on each item unlocks when you defeat a Megaboss. For the helmet, defeat the archmage boss in the Briny Grotto

E: the descriptions are taken from the quests you get to kill the megabosses in the Ultimate challenge!
