Wasn't expecting much difference but this paired with the town mod is amazing, immediately noticed the difference the second I walked out of the safehouse. Nice.
But how can this be done if the description does not indicate the full path for replacement and the file name, without readme or right folder structure in the archive by which one can understand what and where to replace?
UPD Full path - "game\mapres.rpf\root\mapres" and "update\game\mapres.rpf\root\mapres" for RR.
Thanks to RR unpacked files - "RealityRedemption BETA 2.9.1 PC\RR-Files\mapres_terrain", that's how I figured this out.
The is a readme in the docs section. The mapres rpf and folder has no directory, just open it and type the file name in search and it will come up and replace it. I didn't think it could get so complicated because that's the only way I install files. The mod files are the file names wtf
Me too, with your rock textures it made my game crashes on stratup (access violation c000005). When I put my backup mapres the game starts again. Weird.
It shouldn't crash if you double check everything you replace. Make sure you don't just drag and drop everything without checking what file its going to replace. It has crashed on me but only when I replace the wrong files, I have been testing this stuff all day
Thanks, it just took a while to figure out a couple of little things because when you're doing something for the first time, things don't always work out right away. I didn't notice that I already had two similar files after RealityRedemption installation.
Have you thought about increasing the texture resolution by upscaling from 256x256 to 1024x1024, like in RealityRedemption or maybe you are already working on this?
Here is a comparison of contents, one of the files, "die_01_dst_x_hilod.wtd" - https://imgur.com/a/rdr-realityredemption-vs-rich-terrain-textures-bCRmRoC
And yes, thanks you for this great mod, I hope it will help make the ground less bright at night time due to the lack of any mod for darker nights.
Strange, didn't think that could cause problems. Well, it seems that it requires a special approach and more information, or maybe someone here can point out what needs to be done for this in the future, but for now even this is quite enough, at least for me.
Good news, glad you managed to figure out the nuances. Sometimes it takes quite a long time to find advice on some ancient forum.
Btw I also tried, but when trying to replace *.dds in "cho_01_dst_x_hilod.wtd" file with darker images, I ended up with a broken file after rebuilding, it seems just empty now and gives an error. I don't know why this happened with the terrain textures, this did not happen with the grass, there textures changed without problems, although yes, I didn't have to edit *.wtd there.
Even this tutorial didn't help me - https://youtu.be/TfaImy6AuGI?si=RG59zrZv8tOqjrhx
different towns received different edits, I tried not to change the colors on most.I initially just wanted to replace the faded look. No upscales yet because it gets buggy sometimes and some textures look just fine.
Reality Redemption has the same terrain textures but in even higher quality. Most of the town textures, though, seem to be new and not in RR yet, so those are definitely worth using
I would work with them on their project if they give me credit. I made an mythical conversion of multiplayer on ps3 a while back and modded every texture in the mapres. Always liked to do stuff like this but I'll keep doing my own stuff regardless.
You can write comments on GTA Forums, where BadassBaboon published his mod and communicates with us, leaving advice on how to avoid bugs and announces updates.
SireEvalish, I can't get RR to load. Downloaded it from here, unzipped fine, when I try to import to the RDR game folder, start getting error messages when it tries to copy. I do have about 10 mods loaded with Magic RDR (and I see that's on the RR files). Do I have to get rid of all my mods for RR to work? Can't find any download or install instruction anywhere.

And how does one install Reality Redemption without messing up the other mods?
