Thanks to PygSistem and unicornicopia for providing some good information on the Epic Games version, and the Steam version. Please let me know if any other files aren't listed. (should always work for the Rockstar Games version since that's what I use) :)
bro i did i even converted my whole external SSD to NTFS so I can have the security tab in red dead properties and gave it permissions. Idk man they seem to all be gone now and the temp folder is always empty
If rdr2tempmodfolder is created (you/)it should already have permission to move the files. which version did you download? Are you on an older version of Windows?
i downloaded the normal version posted on Feb 16 named "switch" and not the other one. I am on Windows 10 brother. Maybe cuz I moved the files to my main drive and moved it back to SSD it was like that idk its weird
Hi, thanks for this tool. I have a question. I checked which files it moves to rdr2tempmodfolder and found two files I don't recognize as mod-related: installscript.vdf and installscript_sdk.vdf, both about 1 KB. I opened them in Hex-editor and they seem to be related to Vulkan. I don't know if it's a false positive and how removing those files will affect the game (I use DX12 in any case). Can you please check this? I copied those files and uploaded them to MEGA, here's the download link: https://mega.nz/file/MeE3gbLY#4pGM_XQcYshc01edT_pv61KNYwqdsw78i8WAp6skWpI Thanks.
Probably some old files left from a mod you've installed at some point. They are not from Rockstar, so if none of you're installed mods need them. Personally, I would just delete them :)
Thank you so much for checking this and replying to me! Interesting, for the life of me I can't remember how those two files got in the game folder... I ever used only 2 simple asi mods which only require the Scripthook. Other than that the only tinkering I've ever done was to replace nvngx_dlss.dll with one with a newer version of DLSS...
Fyi, these 2 installscript files are official files, not from any mod. I just used your Switch mod and it moved these 2 files into the temporary folder. If you then validate game files on Steam, it says these 2 files are missing and re-downloads them. I also confirmed this by looking at screenshots of others' fresh install folders, as well as by reinstalling myself. Any shot at an update that leaves these 2 files in the root folder?
I also had the same issue reported by stipes79 when I had previously used this mod, it would often not let me launch online though occasionally it would still launch (im not experienced in modding i have no clue why this could be happening, nor any steps to replicate as it seemed random). I enjoy online more nowadays so I've removed all mods, but an update to switch to fix this would definitely make me revisit modding the campaign and singleplayer.
@stipes79 and @StigyAmes, interesting, thank you for sharing this info, I''ll make sure to move those 2 files back to the game directory next time I go play Online... Thought I haven't seen any undesired consequences of removing them when I played Online since I've started to use "Switch", but, as I said, they might be connected with Vulcan and I use DX12...
Thank you, @Kramme! I have another question if you allow. Apparently, your script doesn't move mod folders, like "RampageFiles" or "lml". It's not a big deal to move them manually, it's way easier than finding all non-R* files, but nevertheless, it would be very nice if Switch could move folders as well... Thanks.
EDIT: Sorry, went back to the description to check if it says something about the mod folders, and found this:
Folders inside the root containing mods do not matter when playing online Only the root should be clear of non-original files :)
I'm not sure. It's probably just how your Windows is set up or the version. You can easily troubleshoot it by selecting them one by one (and then removing the rights to those that didn't do the job if you wish) until you find the correct one :)
So let me just understand clearly, This will let me have mods in side the game's files and I'd be able to play SinglePlayer and Online? and will Scripthook won't disturb the function of this mod?

What seems to be the problem, or where are you getting stuck in the process?
which version did you download?
