Hello sir. A texture is available for Monroe's hat. Can you find this texture? Or can you design it yourself? I believe this is necessary for a real military hat. A black and brown hat.
All captains of RDR 1 have this hat. This hat is a big omission in the game.
Its actually sadly removed from the game files, I've searched for it many times but it was removed by the developer when they changed the hat model for mp_samsonfinch or whatever his ped name is. It would be possible for me to texture it, however it would require more than juts a simple retexture because the hat model itself would have to the physical insignia applied over the front of it which unfortunately, I don't really do as I only really do retexturing without remodeling on top of that. If the hat was not remodeled to have the physical insignia it would look more like a decal as textures don't change the physicals dimensions. (the insignia would look like pretty flat without a remodel done as well)
something like this will probably be included with my next mod I'm working on (with some 1908-1911 official uniform regulations)Here is a work in progress 1907 Cavalry Captain :) https://imgur.com/a/LIgU1Es
Hello! Very like your mods!!! It's really cool that peaple like history!!! Can you do a mod that changes family members to the soldiers? And when you will update army mods? It's really intresting about historical uniforms, insignias, rank pathes, etc.
His rank insignia in the base game is of a first lieutenant from the civil war because of the color of the rank and shoulder board color. Civil war first lieutenant and captain had gold insignia, that changed sometime after. second lieutenants didnt have insignia on their shoulder boards. John weathers also uses the same shoulder boards
Im not sure of your sources but Second Lieutenants did have shoulder board insignias. Sky blue was also used again after the civil war however 72'-84' but the insignia color was silver. https://www.quartermastershop.com/1872%20and%20on%20US%20Officer/images/1872%20Boards%20for%20Website%202006.jpg
However you are right if the shoulder boards were from the civil war although I believe Rockstar meant to make them late 1880s but just used the wrong metal insignia color. Which is why my explanation would be correct.
Also John Weathers doesn't use the same shoulder boards, his are even less historically accurate than Monroe's since his shoulder boards don't have a service color plus his Second Lieutenant insignia is the wrong metal color just like Monroe's.
I think you're getting what I said confused. His rank on his uniform is of a First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenants didn't have a bar, both vanilla npcs have the wrong bar color. I use the same source you linked as well as a good source written by the army that goes over enlisted uniforms, weapons and equipment from the 18th century to now. It doesn't cover everything but it's a good source to pull from when needed instead of jumping around to different sites. https://www.history.army.mil/html/museums/uniforms/survey_uwa.pdf I wrote my comment to clear up confusion with the last photo
Ah yes thanks for the clarification, Yes I had forgotten to say the gold insignia was in fact used for First Lieutenants during the civil war. Rockstar Games does odd things sometimes lol.
