So does the roaming bandits and bandit attacks conflict with Ambient Gangs? I come across small groups of bandits but they don't attack me even though I have it set to do so. Never seem to come across Bandits on horseback or experience ambushes. I also have Automatic Greet Replies though haven't experienced any saving issues. Could it conflict with other aspects of of BH?
The random roaming bandits that you come across wont attack on sight as per the setting in the ini. Theres a bug with that, we dont know what the issue is, we fixed it once before many versions ago, but still dont know what causes it or what the exact problem is so we gave up on it.
Regardless they will still engage you if you attack them, as far as bandit posse on horseback will depend on what you set for the min/max times for them to spawn, those are ingame hours.
They wont spawn if your in a settlement, only in and around open roads, as far as ambient gangs go that mod should work with BH and shouldn't conflict i used it in the past and had no issues with it. For ambushes if you haven't come across one then your either not triggering one if you did come across one, or you were no where near one. If you go to the description tab and download the high resolution downloadable map, all hideouts and ambush points are marked on it including their names, all hideouts and ambush points are also listed in the ini as well and formatted in the same order as the map.
If you locate an ambush point and decide to test it and no ambush occurs, try from a different direction, most if not all of them are in the middle of roads. This video here if your interested will give you an idea of what it takes to build ambush points and how they work: How i Build Ambush Points for Bandit Hideouts Mod
If one per the map you are testing does not go off, then either disable the mod (F3) and then re-enable it, and or also delete your Bandit_hideouts.dat and clearedhideouts.dat. Be sure to create a new save on an empty slot sometime during the game, and before you exit this way no cache will interfere with a new game session.
First of all, great mod, but does anyone know how compatible it is with mods like Ambiant Gang and Ambush? I have no crash/weird behavior so far, but i guess it messes with the same files, so I prefer asking.
Hi, both mods should be compatible. About the only conflict would be more bandits at a given ambush location depending on if the ambush mod just happen to have one close or at one of the ambush points in BH.
In the future for mod compatibility there is the pinned article above: - Mods Compatible and Not Compatible with Bandit Hideouts:LINK
Thank you, it works well but I've encountered a bug, mostly due to PDO. Everytime I hire a gunman, it instantly falls into a dying state. I legit don't get why this is happening...
Try hiring a gunmen at another saloon, as the issue happened before for another and someone else mentioned the issue was fixed when they went to another saloon.
Yes everything is activated with the default options (except dmg and hp values). But I found a way to somewhat fix it, it seems that your "reanimate" option for gunmen is incompatible, so I just turned it off to test it and no problem so far.
I've seen it's a common bug, but I got some bandits standing still in the middle of the road as well, not attacking nor moving. What's the fix? Already made a new save file.
Thats probably the random roaming bandits, but if their standing around not moving, then theres a few things you can do. 1. Delete the Bandit_Hideouts.dat and Clearedhideouts.dat files before you start the game. 2. Press F3 to disable the mod and then press it again to renable it, while ingame. 3. If your using ScripthookRDR2 v2 then you should be able to unload all your mods with control R and then press it again to reload, that will reset everything.
If your using AB Scripthook then use this: - Unload and Load all your mods while ingame:LINK that will reset everything, even allow you to change any ini settings, add or remove a mod or files from your RDR2 directory because everything is unloaded.
I do this all the time when im working on the mod and have to replace the BH asi with a new updated version for testing. But try any of those and it should fix the issue. Just make sure that every game during and before you exit you create a new save on an empty slot, that usually prevents the bugs, sometimes they happen but doing that will keep the mod running like its supposed to most times.
You can also refer to the solutions article on the various issues that can come up and how to fix them: - Problems, and Bugs with the mod? Solutions: LINK
what should i do if i dont have Bandit_Hideouts.dat and clearedhideouts.dat file created, i have ScriptHook v2 installed, version 1.35, all files are in game directory, i dont have any incompatible mods
Those files are created when you save the game, they just store information on your ini settings, hideout status, timers and other stuff like hired guns if you have any. Just once you get ingame create a new save on an empty slot sometime during and before you exit.
It may or may not i cant really say, never used the mod but test it out and let me know and i will add whatever you discover to my compatibility list seen here: - Mods Compatible and Not Compatible with Bandit Hideouts: LINK
Already an option in the ini to have Vampires spawn at hideouts, review this article on how to use them: - How to change the gang that will spawn at individual hideouts & ambush points:LINK Character textures Overhaul shouldn't conflict but you'll have to test it out, cant really tell you.
I see, well in the Bandit_Hideouts_CustomPeds.txt it has CS_Vampire, so all you need to do is when you go to the saloon and talk to the bartender. Go to the custom list when you go to hire a gunmen, that should bring up the list from that text file.
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out! The CustomPeds file was the move.
I am curious if you know of a way to switch my character model like in Rampage Trainer? I am using this with scripthook right now, but idk what that option is.
It's honestly hard to find mod discussion forums. Their discord basically bans people for talking about mods, and reddit straight up laughs when you ask questions and modding helps, especially necessary when many modders have left or don't have any contacts. Asking for a skinning animation skip is like kicking someone's dog. KCD2 fandom on the other hand is far more welcoming of stuff, and takes itself less serious than this one.
It's one of the more toxic fanbase. Though, this mods is really fun so I appreciate you help even when it's not your own mod. :)
Also, I need to note how you can cheat using certain features from the Hired. For example, arming one with arrows will let me pick up arrows when they use them.
And using them to block up traffic is very useful as well. Not to mention they can stand on my kills so I can skip the skinning animation. Small stuff that makes for a quite huge difference.
Though, this mods is really fun so I appreciate you help even when it's not your own mod. :)
Welcome, but actually it is, as you read on the description tab BH is a standalone mod of all the Bandit features of AMJM Transport mod. BH was my idea and my work, and crossed helped me build the mod, he taught me how to build hideouts, ambushes and many other things. He built about 35 hideouts in AMJM Transport, i updated all of them and then added 111 more hideouts and 46 ambush points so far in BH, wrote all the articles, built this mod page. Also did the Hired Guns mod too.
I’m having a problem where the "clearedhideouts.dat" and "Bandit_Hideouts.dat" files aren’t being created, even with the .ini settings adjusted. Maybe it’s an issue with file creation permission in the game folder, but I’m not sure.
Just wanted to let you know I managed to fix the issue. I replaced ScriptHook with ScriptHook V2 and ran the game as admin, and that seems to have solved it. Thanks again for the awesome mod!
Looks amazing, but what's the reason I can't run rampage trainer with this mod, it's the only thing not compatible with everything i have for mods, just curious what messes things up with it?
Up to you whether you want to run it with the mod or not, im not stopping you, but if its causing issues then its not going to work obviously. But the reasons from the reports i got were you would get infinite loading screen and maybe some other issues, about all i can tell you.
Never used the mod myself as i've always used the trainer that came with AB Scripthook and never had an issue with it. But overall someone that uses and or had used Rampage with BH and had issue could probably tell you more. Suppose you can just try it and if you get issues with Rampage and BH alone then you'll know first hand.
My suggestion is before you load BH into your game is while ingame create a new save on an empty slot and load into that with BH loaded. BH is a 132 script super heavily scripted mod and can create misc bugs if saves are being overwritten, it depends, most times it should be ok but a bug all fixable are bound to happen. Like floating props, hideouts not spawning bandits, getting a black bar at the bottom of your screen when you clear a hideout instead of the words " You cleared the hideout!" ect,.
More details and their solutions can be found here on the solutions article, the general stuff is just preventative maintenance if you will, most times the game and mod should be fine but random sh*t can happen. Any other questions or problems then dont hesitate to ask i will reply as soon as im able.
Thank you I appreciate you replying and giving me an explanation. I went ahead and downloaded it, just have not installed it wanted to dig more info before, since I was reading through incompatibilities and what not, I will go ahead and take advice of creating a new save in empty slot, quit game, install mod and save into that created slot is that correct?
Welcome, ya just load into the game without the mod and then create a new save on an empty slot, then with the mod load into that save, and you'll start fresh.
Update tried Version 1.30 it works also I ended up taking down about 6 settlements in play through no issues so far, so idk what all went wrong with the newer updates, that caused issues and errors???
I'm curious if Scripthook's version of trainer can change character models like Rampage's. I wanted to see if I can switch my character model to be female or something else.
Nothing wrong with the updates, its something your using, or dont have that is conflicting with the mod, i would suggest removing all your mods and only load BH and test with the latest. Then add each mod in and see mod gives you the error. Imo going back to earlier versions you would be missing out on alot of new content, features, functions, fixes, and new hideouts, and updated hideouts. Plus the older versions especially v1.30 dont have the option to disable the mod ingame by pressing F3, among other things.
I have no issues with v1.35 and im running about 40+ mods one of them is the unknown FFF error fix, using that and ScripthookRDR2 V2, and im on the Vulkin api and my game runs great, mods load like its supposed too.
So one or something with your setup, your asi loader, or your using version.dll, or AB Scripthook, something is conflicting. Suggest you review the solutions article - Problems, and Bugs with the mod? Solutions:LINK as it goes over alot of areas that have caused issues with players with BH, including what your getting with v1.35.
Thanks for responding. I also tried updating to your link of that newer version of ASI, but it doesn't load any mods once in game, I exit put my current Asi back in and it loads mods just fine, eventually I will narrow it down, thanks for the help. At least I am able to play with your mod even though it's 1.30 version, so I am happy with that. Only thing I can think of is with the updated version of your mod, most likely is using newer ASI version dependency, but if I update to that asi version no mods load in my game.
Hi, what other mods are you using? it sounds like you have a mod conflict. Create a new save on an empty slot and load into that and try again. Delete the Bandit_Hideouts.dat and the clearedhideouts.dat files before you start the game.
Always create a new save on an empty slot when using BH, overwriting existing saves will bloat, and cause some odd bugs once in a while if you overwrite, new save wont do that, at least not for me. New save sometime during, and then before you exit the game, only delete the .dat files if you run into issues.
Other solutions if you want to see what others have dealt with and the solutions we discovered that fixed them. - Problems, and Bugs with the mod? Solutions:LINK
It doesn't necessary replace it, its just another Scripthook with more updated functions and any issues AB Scriphook had dont happen. I use the V2 based on some of the mods i use and with it and using the Vulkin api i have better performance. It will work just make sure you also update your asi loader: Update your dinput8.dll The dinput8.dll that comes with AB Scripthook is out of date, its from 2021, the latest update for dinput8.dll is from July 2024 unless they update it again in the future.
Review the solutions article and apply the solutions accordingly, what your reporting is nothing new. - Problems, and Bugs with the mod? Solutions:LINK
no map markers for the hideouts
You did install the Bandit_Hideouts.asi and the Bandit_Hideouts.ini and the Custompeds.txt into your RDR2 to directory: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Red Dead Redemption 2 correct? If you did then, did you install the ASI loader? Thats the Dinput8.dll BH is an asi mod so without the asi loader the mod aint going to load.
If your all good there then its compatibility, are you using any other mods that aren't compatible, you wont know until you reviewed the list here: - Mods Compatible and Not Compatible with Bandit Hideouts:LINK The mods on the list compat and not compatible aren't all of them, there could be more mods out there, so if you or anyone else knows of any mods not compatible or not then let me know and i can update the list accordingly.
As for the error, that could be incompatible mods as i said above, or your loading into an old save with BH loaded. So my suggestion is remove BH from your RDR2 directory, go ingame create a new save on an empty slot and then readd BH and try again. If you still get the same issue then refer to the solutions article i linked above for some of the solutions, the error dont tell me anything.
