I made this mod specifically for myself and decided to share it for others to use if they'd like, if not, the source code is there, the .ini files is there, just my small contribution to the modding community as I've use other mods as well. There will be no more updates for the time being.Cheers from night city~.
You get error fffff when you get arrested which is one of the main things you need to do in this game especially if you wanna clear your bounty and you dont have enough money, I'd appericate if you returned to this mod just to fix a couple of the bugs but if you dont wanna thats perfectly fine
Absolutely love the mod. With this mod, the injuries mod, persistent weather mod, and the humidity and temperature overhaul mod -- you can get a good survival experience in RDR2 if that's what you're looking for.
The only thing that I'd change in this mod (and you can in the ini) is enemies having 100% aim when at full health makes a lot of missions nearly impossible. You basically have to constantly stay in deadeye to even have a chance and that requires eating a lot of tobacco which is impossible in some missions -- for example the trolley mission in chapter 4. You can't access the menu while riding on the trolley so constantly being in dead eye doesn't work. You also can't go into cover so enemies are going to constantly pelt you with bullets even 50+ meters away and there's nothing you can do about it especially because you're on a moving platform. And even after that, once the trolley crashes, there are several enemies that are 3 blocks down the road on your flanks and they have perfect aim so they just snipe Dutch. Seeing as you have like 10 guys rushing you from the front, it's practically a hopeless mission.
I bumped the enemies aim down by 15 points per "tier" of injuredness and they're still good shots from afar but they'd miss as distance increases as you would expect. This isn't really an issue in open world because encounters are usually much closer, so they'd hit you anyways and usually there are fewer enemies in open world -- like 4-5. Missions have a habit of throwing 10+ guys at you at once.
So, yeah -- I'd recommend turning down the AIs accuracy, at least when they're at full health. It's in the .ini and it's towards the bottom -- pretty self explanatory. Oh, I'd also recommend increasing the time that cores drop, but only once Arthur gets sick. Him getting sick (cores drop 20% faster) and this mod make his cores drop way to quick for my liking. This is especially true because you can't constantly eat while sick. It seems like it's around 3 times a day whereas you can always eat while not ill. This one is more of a preference than major balance issue though. You might enjoy the difficulty of basically constantly having to camp and sleep -- it isn't insurmountable and it is realistic/immersive.
These things are easily changed in the .ini so that's just my two cents. Anyways, definitely 10/10 on this mod. I love it!
Could you please explain in depth what this does so far as temperature, rain, snow, wind and wetness is concerned. How about with fires, indoors etc...?
How similar is it to say hypothermod?
Also, could you maybe create a mod that ONLY includes the weather interactions aspects?
Basically there are certain temperatures (every temperature actually) that require certain clothes for you to wear. If you are overdressed or underdressed for what the environment requires, then you will get hot or cold and start getting negative effects: health drain. The more overdressed or underdressed you are, the higher the drain. If you are naked in freezing conditions you will lose health much fasteer than if you are with some clothes but still not enough. If you are in a very hot place with all the maximum clothes (coat, gloves, hat, chaps, neckwear, etc) you will do much worse than if you are overdressed by just coat and a shirt for example. (when you press ALT to check temperature and mission and HUD, if you are too cold or too hot it will display a symbol for it between the minimap and the honor thing, as well as the screen will blip in blueish or yellowish at intervals)
Temperature is affected by rain, snow, being underwater, interior, fire. Rain and snow make it so the temperature drops, and being inside interior or fire it increases. (it's more like you need more or less clothes, but to the effects, it's the same)
Wind i think affects vanilla temperature, but i'm not sure.
It's very different from hypothermod. Hypothermod only deals with cold. What hypothermod does is it creates an arbitrary variable that calls it Body Temperature and once you are under -1° Celsius environmental temperature you start losing body temperature unless you are besides fire and you warm yourself.
The problem with that system is that it doesn't care what you are wearing. You can be naked or have the maximum clothes possible and you will lose temperature at the same pace. It also doesn't care if you are in an interior. Once you get in an interior you don't lose temperature anymore but you won't gain it either, which makes it very annoying and being in the snow freezing north having to set up camp constantly.
This mod cares about what clothes you wear and also every temperature counts, as well as considers interior, fires, weather, etc. Hypothermod doesn't care between -1° and 30°.
Answered like a champ. Well, I'm too lazy to separate the temperature mechanics, be my guest if you wanna do it, I've published my source code and I believe I've commented it fairly well.
How can I turn off the blue-ish screen blip when you lose health? It breaks immersion. Just started my 3rd playthrough and it blips every 5 seconds because it's cold in the intro.
EDIT: by putting TEMPERATURE_CORE_FX=1 to 0 in SoftCores.ini
Btw. there is no chance for survival in the cold intro because the blue coat isn't enough so I had to activate the mod after the intro was completed :D Great mod though, thanks.
@efixan Thank you! I was about to just disable the whole thing because I dislike the screen blip and wasn't sure if I could even make it through the intro. Very helpful.
Edit: I increased the COLD_THRESHOLD from 150 to 450 and it fixed the problem. I'll probably turn this down to 250 once I'm finished with the intro.
To my understanding you could also decrease the cold penalties in the "SNOWING_MODIFIER" Instead of turning of the flashing blue effect. It's 100 by default and I don't know what the most realistic/fun option would be. I haven't tested this mod out yet. I set it to 25 because I saw someone say that was working well for them.
gonna ask this here because it is related to above discussion, though i am about two years late to the party lol
wondering how to tweak the .ini to make having a reasonably full core lead to hp regening faster than the weather hp drain, so if you are not severely under/over dressed, the hp core drains as it keeps active hp close to 100%, as the core gets lower the sustained hp level drops as frostbite/heatstroke sets it, until the core hits zero and cant regen any more health, freezing/overheating to death.
i think a good baseline for balancing the mod is to look at the intro, mauled up john survives the cold, with no hat while sitting still for what must have been at least an hour, if not several. using game measurements johns cores and HP would be low from the cold and wolf attack, yet arthur freezes to death two times over on the ride to go find him with a hat and coat. lol
i think it makes more realistic sense for the mod to act this way. only severe cold actually damages your body, non serious amounts of cold just forces your body to work harder to keep warm, hence the core drain (body burning calories faster) while still having near 100% hp (no frostbite yet). but even non serious amounts of cold can kill if youre exposed for too long, 40 degree weather can kill if youre stuck in it for days with no way to replenish calories.
if anybody reads this please leave thoughts and/or .ini tweak recommendations below, and thanks for reading, especially you opariffazman thanks for the mod! balanced or not, after a few tweaks this is a must have!
I really want the death penalties changes as standalone mod as there are already a couple of the other changes that have been made into standalones and I already have mods for temps which I tuned for Basic Needs and Humidity and Temps mods and I don't want the core depletion changes. My stamina goes instantly to 0 when I aim. Probably from the RDEE mod conflict or sth. Could I just delete lines in the ini and keep only the ones I want?
I keep getting damaged when my health core is empty even with "PLAYER_HEALTH_PENALTY=0". It seems to happen only with the mod Humidity and Temperature Overhauled
HI, IM TRYING EVERYTHING BUT ARTHUR CANT DIE OF HUNGER ... HERE IS MY SETTINGS AFTER TESTING SO THE GAME IS PRETTY BALANCED AND FUNNY....ANY HELP ? i NEED ARTUR DEAD AFTER HEALTH OUTER CORE IS DEPLETED.

Night City turns out to be shit. Welp back to Red Dead then.
For maximum compatibility with Ped Damage Overhaul, disable both of these on Softcores.ini
[DAMAGE_MODIFIER]
# overrides all configuration under DAMAGE_MODIFIER, 0 = disable all of below functions
DAMAGE_TWEAKS=0
[AI_COMBAT_MODIFIER]
# accuracy amount based on their hp
AI_ACCURACY=0
And disable both of these in PedDamageOverhaul.ini
[PedDamageConfiguration_Advanced]
;CoreDepletion enables or disabled the depletion of cores (can be set to either 0 or 1)
CoreDepletion = 0
;CoreDepletionAfterDeath will deplete all cores entirely if the player dies, if enabled (can be set to either 0 or 1)
CoreDepletionAfterDeath = 0
