PixieV tyvm for all of your mods. I like it really. U do great things for the game. Like this one too - nice n easy, best work together with your one Non-Sticky Hats ofc which one i started to use before this one cuz didnt notice earlier.
I absolutely love this mod. It just works, no fuss. It's as if you're just toggling on a feature that was always there.
I especially fell in love when I played "A Quiet Time." After Arthur wakes up hungover miles south of Valentine, I checked the map and found that the mod actually tracked that Arthur had lost his hat in the pig pens during the crazy events of the night, even though I myself didn't know when he'd lost it. So I schlepped all the way back to Valentine to get my horse, and half-ashamedly jumped the fence into the pig pens to get my hat.
I would have never even realized it was there, and I bet in the vanilla game it would have despawned at that distance, but thanks to this mod I get that little extra bit of comedy to finish off that mission. Immersion factor: 100%.
I just checked your page and it occurred to me I'm using no less than 4 of your mods in my current pack. Restored Quiver, Stash That Lantern, Cut Dialogue Restoration, and this one. Keep doing what you're doing, because clearly you're on to something!
(Also, I don't suppose by any chance you take requests?)
EDIT: Make that 5. Just grabbed the non-sticky hats mod.
Well, I've been using the More Persistent Weather mod for longer rainstorms and such, but I've noticed there are tons of "zones" where the game resets the weather when you enter it. I'd have this wonderful thunderstorm scheduled to last several hours but I accidentally stray too close to Valentine and suddenly it's sunny again. There's a bunch of places I've seen this happen; Valentine, Beecher's Hope, I think the gang camps do it, and I'm sure there's more.
I don't suppose there's some way to make this stop so that the weather in these areas is just a continuation of the surrounding area? I'm fine with it in areas where the biomes transition, i.e. entering the mountains or the drier parts of the Great Plains, but it really takes me out of the experience when I approach Valentine in pouring rain and suddenly it magically transforms into a beautiful sunny day as soon as I cross the tracks.
I'd ask the creator of More Persistent Weather but they don't seem to be active anymore. I'm not sure if there's a way to do this without either breaking the game, or the More Persistent Weather mod.
Well, from my understanding, this happens because the weather system gets overridden by a lot of stuff, so it is fixable, but it prolly needs to be done in a way that is even more intense than persistent weather, I hate those zones too, happens ALOT when returning to camp for instance
I have no idea why R* did this, because NPCs have behaviors set for each weather type so I truly don't get why they made the weather system so strange
with that said, I have alot more projects I am prolly gonna finish up before messing with weather
Yeah, it really really bothers me. I had the weather get stuck on thunderstorm once near Annesburg (I think because of a bug in the vanilla game), and I rode all the way back to Saint Denis and sat under the balconies of the saloon just taking in the ambiance, and the NPCs were talking about the nasty weather and how miserable the constant downpour was. It was super immersive, but you'll hardly ever get those behaviors if the weather resets whenever you go near a town, unless you want to just sit in the town all day and wait for rain to start, and that's just no fun.
And no worries! If it can be done in a way that won't conflict with More Persistent Weather I'm all for it, but if it would conflict with or break More Persistent Weather I'd probably just leave it alone. I love More Persistent Weather's features, I just wish the game didn't basically hard stop the weather that I've specifically installed a mod to make last longer.
Hey so what happens if I don't pick up the hat and instead re-equip it from my horse? is the hat/it's blip going to disappear from the map/radar or smh? What happens if You don't pick it up and reload save or quit game?
I've tested this. If you re-equip from your horse, the blip on the map disappears. The actual hat that dropped on the floor will stay there for a bit but it'll de-spawn after a bit. I tested it by sleeping at the local inn and it disappeared, and I'm sure time/distance/restarting the game will do similar.
that's fully intentional, it's no longer considered by the mod at all, it hands the hat back to the game, the mod tracks your current hat and your last hat, last hat gets ignored if a current hat is on, this isn't a bug, the mod's data is entirely volatile, it doesn't save anything to the game
So, does this mod still allow the hat to despawn? If, say, I don't bother to pick up my hat and I go re-equip it from my horse, does the other one still stay on the ground forever? Or if I change hats?
I like the idea but I don't want my hat to stay there forever if I've chosen to leave it behind for whatever reason.
Ahahah This sounds so much like a Westworld optional app that allows GPS of your stuff to be brought home and held as a souvenir... Ahahah crazy. I love these modders that have all these incredible thoughts. But a lost thing is supposed to be lost. You made amazing mods. I really hope I will be able to mount all these and others... beyond 20. without issues.
A cool idea would be not having any marker and just finding it again randomly maybe because we pass on the same road and we noticed actually of having lost it.
Actually making it handholding kills the emergent gameplay of this feature. What you do represents what developers fail to do: they listen to players power fantasty desires (one of the biggest if not the most big error in last 40 years of game development) .Instead this mod should be leaving every hat in the game persistently and allow you to find it again one day. The value of finding again something without help is the coolest thing ever. If one doesn't understand this then we are in dire straits...
Yes people could even create a ladder for "who lost more hats in the game"... ;)
To put it simply: allow as you have in your other Enhanced Entity a forever standing cowboy hats up to five in the map (the rest are supposed retrieved by others\ consumed to the ashes...) and remove the icon on the map handholding the player. Like this u have a MINI GAME if you don't like the important concept of emergent gameplay and you really added value and affection to the gameplay, like we loveour horse we might even get a relationship with our head cover...
Your mods are really cute and clearly offer a different perspective, you really go deep to the core, and as good mods do, u make us wonder.
I hope you could allow not to have a map or anything on screen telling where the hat is. That would really make this thing interesting, sort of emergent additional potential for "quest for our hat" made by us, naturally, as we backtrack in search for it...
