After 9 fun years of development, I've decided to retire Sacred 2 Enhanced Edition. It's not perfect, but it's a far cry from the buggy official release and something I can be relatively proud of.
With no further updates this means others can build their own mods using EE as a base, following the permissions guidelines (make patches or updates but don't just yoink the whole thing and pass it off as yours, and no monetization).
The "Challenge Mode" is kinda busted, and for a long time I was wondering why I am so bad at the game.. then I noticed I enabled this thing. First playthrough on silver, I invested everything into tanking, and yet some bosses were instantly killing me anyway, like the dragon miniboss you can find nearby Bluestonbury. I don't recommend using it, unless you hate yourself and want the game to feel like a chore.
I don't even launch the game without the challenge mode, I've completed the game on all difficulties with different characters many times and all the playthroughs with the challenge mode, I even made a mod based on it, it's just that this mod is not for beginners, that's all
Beginners or new characters? Because I don't understand how you could possibly survive a hit from a boss with a new character if he does way more damage than you can have health at any given level, and that's with also caring for maxed resistances.
Edit: I mean that the boss' level grows alongside yours, so his damage scales just as your health does. How can you possibly combat that on a fresh save file?
It's meant to be brutal. Like, stupidly ridiculously, make you throw down your mouse and say "how is anyone supposed to do this?" hard. I tried to describe it as such in the Change Log. It's meant for players who think the game is too easy, who know all the best tricks and want to test their elite builds. There are such players out there, who would always post how easy the mod was. Challenge Mode is for them.
Please, for any new players wanting balance, I really only recommend the CORE and Music mods, the rest of the stuff is meant to be optional niche stuff for people who specifically want it, it's not meant to be all dumped in the mods folder at once without looking through it. You could be surprised by things you didn't expect.
To change the fog of war (like in the vanilla game) you need to change:the folder Sacred 2 - script - server - balance.txt - RangeClearFOW = 850, Can anyone tell me how to replace one skill with another? For example, replace Seraphim's skill Instill Belief with Subjime Guardian (Buff)? I would really like to leave the skills vanilla, but add only the summoning,
Hey Flix! I've lurked on Dark Matters since launch of Sacred 2.
I'm returning to Sacred 2 once again, and the Enhanced Edition mod is really the culmination of all the efforts of the community over all these years. It's a wonderful addition to the game.
I want to give an extra special shout out to the music mod, though! I somehow hadn't used it before, but wow does it add to the game. One of the early pieces of new town music is stuck in my head and it's super pleasant. :)
how can you set the localization of your mod in Russian? because after installing the mod the game becomes in English the language of the game is initially Russian version of the mod 3.2
Heya, thanks for the great work! Can't imagine playing without your mod anymore. I was wondering however, if it would be possible to add the fix for "Divine Protection deactivating the Warding Energy Buff after expiring", which is present in the newest, Beta addendum of the community patch? Only if it is not to much trouble! Thanks for your time either way.
Does this mod happen to also make the fog of war to be revealed wider on map when you roaming the world? I mean it's a good thing for some parts, but thing is, it doesn't even reveal the point of interest or unique place till you get closer to it, so I wouldn't know if there's unique places or no since normally I found it because it hasn't got revealed on the world yet since it's sill hidden underneath the fog of war... so basically, I used fog of war to track to which corner of the map I hadn't visit yet, but since it already got revealed I might have no reason to visit to the corner of the map and I would probably miss a few unique places because of that,
So, if this mod somehow alter the fog of war, which file is it I need to edit?
Yes it does, you can read it in the full changelog:
• Range for clearing the map fog of war is doubled.
Also makes the minimap display enemies in a wider range.
Now, changing this specifically is unfortunately not knowledge that I possess, however, to kind of compensate for the wider range of the fog that's revealed you can try increasing the maximum camera zoom out range by changing the parameters found in options.txt file so that you can see more around your character as well, found within:C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Local\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2 It says not to edit that file and instead put the parameters you want to change into optionsCustom.txt, but it doesn't seem to really work, at least for me. You can play around with the other params but the one you want is this one:cam1_trackdist_max = 850,

Happy playing Sacred fans!

Godspeed on your future adventures.
EDIT: Found a solution, I downloaded Przemba's mod and extracted to data-party driad.tga
I would imagine that Quests could cause problems, given they involve more scripting and are recorded, but that's just a guess.

Now, changing this specifically is unfortunately not knowledge that I possess, however, to kind of compensate for the wider range of the fog that's revealed you can try increasing the maximum camera zoom out range by changing the parameters found in options.txt file so that you can see more around your character as well, found within:
C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Local\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2
It says not to edit that file and instead put the parameters you want to change into optionsCustom.txt, but it doesn't seem to really work, at least for me.
