Thank you so much! Its always bugged me when developers give characters special shading effects or extra lights just to make them "pop" more because it always makes them look like their not entirely In the scene like their glowing or something and this makes it look so much better to me 10/10 exactly what i was hoping to find Thank you very much for making this!

This mod is great and improves the atmosphere of the game.
I have found a bug. When the mod ‘No Sweet FX Light - James’ is installed and you quickly turn the camera in a dark room with the flash light switched on, strange textures appear on James. Looks like water droplets or blood texture, kind of blurry.

I installed this mod and it was great, but after the recent update I uninstalled any and all mods I had, and found that for some reason the lens flare effect from James' flashlight is gone. Maybe I'm mistaken, but there was definitely a light from James' flashlight, and a lensflare when if was toward the camera. Ever since installing this mod, there's no corona/light from the flashlight, and no lens flare. I have tried uninstalling SH2, deleting the %appdata/local/silenthill2 folder, as well as the folder in steamapps, but when I re-install SH2 there's still no flashlight corona, and still no lens flare. Like the photo in TenebrisVenit's post on 14 October, it shows a beam of light coming from the flashlight and making a sort of god rays effect, my SH2 doesn't do this at all no matter what I do.

There is one more issue with the flashlight, when you're in pitchblack you still can see the glass texture of the flashlight.

Sick!   I played around with UUU (otis_inf) trying to figure out how to disable that key light, and even spent like an hour searching the CVAR list but couldn't figure out how to turn it off-  curious how do managed?

If you find out, let me know. I want to do the same thing in Hellblade 2.

thank you very much! Finally the game doesn't feel like something with a “fan shown what ‘name’ could look like on UE5” title.  I noticed that the game has some artificial blackout blocking the light, if I may say so. Is it possible to remove it too? It looks like another disgusting visual solution that spoils the atmosphere in some moments. I hope it's clear what I mean from my example

I think the spot light that follows James is the reason why his hair appears to “self-illuminate” in darker environments. I played the game with this mod enabled, now his hair is lit properly and more consistently across darker and brighter areas.

It also removes some specular highlights that I see on James’ hair in brighter areas such as the observation deck at the beginning of the game. installing this mod makes his hair look entirely matte at the observation deck. I thought that was because of the way the environment is lit, but I think the spot light might be the real reason why this happens.

Thanks for making this mod, very helpful and interesting to see what’s actually happening!

This is awesome. One thing I'd like to see is a version with very minimal lighting (just a slight bit of light compared to vanilla), just so it does look like a pitch black shadow in the extremely dark areas when you have your flashlight on.

EDIT:Looks like someone did this: https://www.nexusmods.com/silenthill2/mods/156?tab=description

Seconded. Having the light off completely makes James just a little too dark compared to the surrounding environment. It messes with the perspective a little bit because the foreground and background are the same shade. Reducing the light to, say, 10-15% of the baseline would push James to the foreground, offer more outline detail in pitch-black areas (like the Prison), and possibly fix some of the hair issues. Keep Maria as is since she is always in the background.

Great mod! Could you do the same for all the item pickups? They all have an artifical glow to make them stand out.

Seconded. Also if you or someone could improve the flashlight tracking? Currently if you use the quick turn around the spotlight instantly moves there ahead of James making the full turn.
