Updated for Patch 1.0.5. I'd like to commend Bloober for their excellent work, testing, and responsiveness
Flickering/strobing with OLED? Turn off VRR. Change to free sync or nothing at all—ty to Mackievellian
Common UE Bugs Inside the main mod download a _troubleshooting tools folder for fixing common UE problems. These happen with vanilla UE games:
First thing to try—power off the PC, and boot it cold. This shouldn't fix UE, but I see it often when testing.
Crash on startup, low/inconsistent FPS, or really low-res textures (the config files are messed up—see folder with same name)
Crash to desktop with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED (the engine takes too long to respond to the GPU driver—see folder with same name)
The above failed, but the game is still performing terribly or massive stutters (shader cache is messed up—see Last Resort folder)
PC Performance Tuning/Troubleshooting The below applies to all new 3D games, in rough order of priority:
Remember to delete old versions of the mod
If you have low FPS, first try disabling overlays (e.g. Steam, GameBar, NVidia, SpecialK)
For AMD CPUs, I recommend disabling Core Isolation until AMD & Microsoft have a full fix
For AMD CPUs, if you haven't, please run AMD's latest chipset driver. It will often find important new or missing drivers
Disable overclocking for UE 5.0–5.3 games
For Intel CPUs, disable E cores for the game, by setting processor affinity to your P cores in Task Manager. Ty to Olek
Generally exclude gamename.exe and the game folder from antivirus real-time scanning
(Ideally also exclude %AppData%\Local Low\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache and %LocalAppData%\SilentHill2\Saved and %LocalAppData%\AMD\DXCache and %LOCALAPPDATA%\AMD\DXCache from real-time scanning)
Also exclude games from Control Flow Guard (click Start > type Exploit Protection > Click Program Settings > click Add program to customize > click Add by program name > type SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe > Scroll down to Control flow guard (CFG) > Click Override > Switch to Off). Ideally also exclude SHProto.exe
Do a GPU driver removal with DDU in Safe Mode then reinstall the latest driver
Try enabling Resizable Bar more info here and intro video here. from my testing this doesn't make any difference for this game, but YMMV
My Current Todo List Please let me know anything I've missed—all ideas welcome:
Fix overly dark bar and other indoor scenes with raster
Fix remaining shadow boiling in vegetation
Fix cloth 30 fps frame cap
Fix cut scene 30fps frame rate cap
Fix FSR3 sharpness
Try to get DLSS FG working
Fix Steam Deck
Bisect (locate) final hitch
Fix shadow penumbra lines with VSM in some scenes
Fix animation chunking hitches
Problems? Please let me know:
Mod version = x.x.x
CPU and GPU
Any other mods that might affect it? Does it happen in vanilla?
Please provide screenshots or video if appropriate
Installed the mods exactly as you say to. The game has higher fps sure but now whenever I turn the camera it lags like mad and then eventually hard crashes my PC.
Thanks for the mod, the truth is that it improves a lot compared to the original but I have a problem, this mod forces the game to have to activate the DLSS preset E, but currently we have the DLSS 4 Preset K that looks much better so I don't know if anyone has a solution or if you can update the mod it would be excellent
Made the stuttering way worse. RT forced off and half the textures were just gone. Also apparently no way to uninstall it, you can delete everything that was added and you'll still have to reinstall the entire game
Garbage installation explanation, tried twice and both time couldn't do it. why would you create something and make it confusing how to actually use it
Do the settings automatically apply once I launch the game? I'm playing thru Steam, so pressing F12 just takes a screenshot. Tried pressing the other keys (F6, F2, etc) and all the settings still say disabled in the mod manager.
So, uh..... mod's nice eh? Really, really nice. I mean... look at those fps
And this is in the area right before the graveyard at the beginning of the game, with a Ryzen 5 2600 cpu, RX 5700 XT and 16gb ram, on 1920x1080 resolution, with EVERYTHING maxed out (save for shader quality) and AMD FSR 3.0 set on highest quality. I mean, it's working wonders, but... there's a bit of a problem, I guess. Dunno why, but if I set up shader quality ad anything other than "low" I get this:
when downloading through UltraPlus mod manager, I encounter this error message in the mod manager: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary. at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary'2.get_Item(Tkey key) at UltraPlus_Mod_Manager.UltraPlus_Profile_Editor.InstallMod()

Be excellent to each other.
- Download the file ‘Ultra Simple Engine.ini Overrides 0.5’ from the mod.
- Open it and find the line
- Uncomment it (remove the semicolon) and change the value to:
You’ll also need to update the DLSS .dll file to the latest version for this to work properly.;r.NGX.DLSS.Preset=5
r.NGX.DLSS.Preset=11
This will set the DLSS Preset to 11, which corresponds to Preset K.Alternatively, you can add this directly to your game’s Engine.ini file:
[SystemSettings]
r.NGX.DLSS.Preset=11
Also apparently no way to uninstall it, you can delete everything that was added and you'll still have to reinstall the entire game
And it's literally written in the description how to toggle RT on. Reading is hard, huh?
Edit: I'm dumb, I just needed to use FSR 3.1 instead of DLSS.
