Reporting an Issue: You can report an issue here on Nexus, or even better directly on GitHub. It is important that if you want to report an issue, that you always include as much information as possible. In general, you should first read the above article "How To Report Issues Helpfully" - and provide us with your Debug Log "LOOTDebugLog.txt". If the Debug Log isn't provided, potential issues will only take longer to be resolved.
Someone save me from my stupid. i did the curious cellular technician thing and tampered with the path file and intall path in LOOT settings and now when i set it back to the install path of ESObliv and the oblivesm Loot just tells me that there was an error and to check the log that my blind ass cant find. i tried uninstalling LOOT in hopes a clean install would undo my stupid but it didnt. can someone educate a mod novice?
Update: you can go to C:\Users\(you)\AppData\Local\LOOT to see you log txt file. it'll tell you your errors if anyone does something silly like me. also you can go to "file" in loot and hit "open loot data folder" to get to the txt file. the file still doesn't make much since to me though so im gonna look at it a while to learn from my BS and post lol
Here's a copy of the error log. maybe a more experience person can make sense of this but to me it doesm't make sense since it's a clean install now. :\ [11:06:50.705733] [info]: Running 64-bit LOOT on Windows 11 Version 24H2 and the x86_64 CPU architecture[11:06:50.705834] [info]: LOOT version: 0.26.0+a0547e68[11:06:50.705859] [info]: libloot version: 0.26.1+070822f3[11:06:50.705904] [info]: LOOT is being run through Mod Organiser.[11:06:50.708541] [warning]: Could not find the Epic Games Launcher app data path in the Registry, so assuming it's in %ProgramData%.[11:06:50.708822] [warning]: Could not find the Epic Games Launcher app data path in the Registry, so assuming it's in %ProgramData%.[11:06:50.710094] [warning]: Could not find the Epic Games Launcher app data path in the Registry, so assuming it's in %ProgramData%.[11:06:50.710319] [warning]: Could not find the Epic Games Launcher app data path in the Registry, so assuming it's in %ProgramData%.[11:06:50.710638] [warning]: Discarding game install for TES IV: Oblivion Remastered installed from Steam to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered as a duplicate of the install for TES IV: Oblivion Remastered installed from Steam to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered[11:06:50.710798] [info]: Could not find paths for game with LOOT folder name "Skyrim Special Edition".[11:06:50.742425] [warning]: Failed to find the style sheet for the "default" theme in the filesystem, attempting to load from built-in resources...[11:06:50.742501] [warning]: Failed to find the style sheet for the "default-dark" theme in the filesystem, attempting to load from built-in resources...[11:06:50.849713] [info]: Initialising filesystem-related data for game: TES IV: Oblivion Remastered[11:06:50.849771] [info]: Attempting to create a game handle for game type "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered" with game path "C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Oblivion Remastered" and game local path ""[11:07:05.654819] [info]: Updating file at "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\LOOT\games\Oblivion Remastered\masterlist.yaml" using file at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data"[11:07:05.655361] [error]: Caught an exception: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data is not a regular file[11:07:05.760843] [info]: Writing file revision info for %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\LOOT\prelude\prelude.yaml.metadata.toml with ID 0d9763e282dbb63d52fb47865b402f39ad952751 and date 2025-05-15[11:07:06.493065] [info]: Beginning sorting operation.[11:07:06.543939] [error]: esplugin failed to parse plugin "C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\DoubleSummonsTrueSkillLevel.esp". Update: DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOURE MORE EXPERIENCED THAN ME. but for documentation purposes this is what fixed it for me tentatively. instead of uninstalling the entire mod from Program files and deleted EVERYTHING, i just went to file in loot open the data folder, and went to the loot root folder and deleted it( not the one in program files!). when i opened loot again it automaticaly loaded the setting back to when i first installed it. now it sorts and updates like normal.
Is this safe to download? I keep getting a message that it doesn't have many loads and be sure it is safe before I open it. Probably something with software. I'm a noob at the PC stuff so just wanted to be sure. Was wanting to use the standalone version for Oblivion Remastered.
Hey, i testet it with Oblivion Remaster and there is a problem with Vortex. They make different loadorders. When i sort it with LOOT i get on Vortex a Yellow messege that he will repair the Loadorder.
I was wondering if Oblivion Remaster will be supported by Loot - Load Order Optimisation Tool some point in the future, as it is essential to me as a Skyrim player.
IDK if there is a fix for this BUT...... I am having 2 issues with Starfield 1st it is saying that I have .ESLs ( and all files are listed as .ESM) and it is saying that This plugin is not a blueprint master and requires blueprint master "BlueprintShips-Starfield.esm", This can cause issues in-game, as this plugin will always load before "BlueprintShips-Starfiueld.esm". 2 parts to this 1. I have saved my load order in NMM to fix this AND no mater what I do LOOT wants to place it last. IDK what to do to correct this and could someone comment a link to a tutorial so I can learn how to fix this please.
BlueprintShips-Starfield.esm does have both the blueprint flag, as well as the master flag, making it a blueprint master. Blueprint masters load after every other non-blueprint master plugins - and since there are no other blueprint master plugins, BlueprintShips-Starfield.esm will always load at the end of your load order. LOOT does correctly display this situation.
It also doesn't matter, if you have other plugins in your load order, that have set BlueprintShips-Starfield.esm as one of their masters - this rule does get ignored in this case, which means, that these plugins with BlueprintShips-Starfield.esm as one of their masters, will not load after it. That's also the reason why you see the error message, that you quoted in bold letters in your post. It doesn't make sense for other plugins to have BlueprintShips-Starfield.esm as one of their masters, as such LOOTs tells you about these plugins.
If you want to learn more about blueprint masters, I would suggest to read this article.
I read the notes and I think that I understand what is being said. Given this I am still hunting for a mis categorized file that says it is an ESM but is reading as an ESL which is preventing LOOT frm sotring my list of mods for Starfield.
Please enable debug logging in LOOTs settings, reproduce the issue, and provide us with your resulting LOOTDebugLog.txt. See this article for more information.
I have been using LOOT fine for months and doing the updates as they come out. Before I got to the most recent update, my LOOT application suddenly refused to launch at all. This is both through MO2 and just as an independent application on my desktop. I have since updated to the latest version with no change in my luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Make sure to uninstall LOOT completely, including the LOOT folder in %localappdata% (in case you created your own sorting rules, backup the userlist.yaml file in there beforehand). Then try to install LOOT v0.25.2 once again. If it still doesn't work, see about installing the MSVC 2019 x64 redistributable manually (it is a requirement for LOOT), if you haven't done so already.
[Changed] LOOT’s translations are now licensed under the Creative Commons Zero 1.0 license. Some Chinese, French, and Polish translations have been removed as their authors did not respond to requests to relicense their contributions.
The Chinese translation included in LOOT v0.24.1 (and previous versions) has been removed for the above stated reason. The Chinese translation in v0.25.0 is a completely new translation, by a new translator. This is a work in progress and at this time, a lot of strings still need to be translated once again. If you want, you could contribute and help us translate LOOT into Chinese once again, see here. The license your translation would be under is CC0, the Creative Commons Zero 1.0 license.
Thanks, your new translation will be part of the next official version of LOOT. If you want to continue adding more translations, I would suggest to read this article that explaines a lot of stuff regarding working on translations. Especially the third bullet point in this subsection (the one regarding mnemonic shortcuts) will be important going forward.
Thank you for your guidance...... I'm ashamed that my English level can't understand it. One can only expect from other high-level English-speaking Chinese
GitHub Status doesn't report anything going wrong from GitHub's side and I just tested updating the masterlist myself with no issue either. I therefore would assume, that you are experiencing some temporary issues on your end.
You can turn off updating the masterlist before sorting in LOOTs options. In case you continue to see this error message while updating the masterlist, I would suggest to read the following article: Update masterlist errors
