Heh heh, all these years playing Skyrim, and NOW I finally understand what that diamond icon/suffix meant!! Thanks!
However, from the screenshots here, it seems many of the items in the inventory will get marked with the diamond, so it kind of defeats the purpose to quickly identify the best item. Is there any way to disable some of the classes/categories utilized by this mod? Some configuration via an MCM menu would be nice.
Based on my research this specifically is an user interface only feature and not related to the AI and how it selects which item to choose. Of course, I could be wrong, but I haven't seen any strange behavior during my testing.
Should you notice strange behavior in regards to this, I would ask you to try to recreate the issue in a clean setup (so basically Vanilla + SKSE + BestInClass++). If it truly messes with the AI code, I will try to adjust it, but like I said in my testing it didn't seem to be the case.
it would be cool if npcs, based on their class, would choose a type of armor (Thief -> Light Armor) and then only choose the best from that type of armor. Maybe vanilla does that already? But that would be ideal I think.
What equipment a NPC uses is based on what they are assigned within the NPC record, often those assignments are leveled lists. So overall what item a NPC ends up getting and thus using, is dependent on the forms the NPCs are based on.
My plugin is purely an UX improvement, thus has no affect on the actual game logic in terms of gameplay.
Making the plugin for SSE isn't just recompiling it. It requires parts that haven't been reverse engineered so far, I had to do it for LE by myself. RE'ing SSE is a lot more difficult though, so unless someone gets me the offsets and hooks I won't be able to provide a SSE version.
Why people think that the development process is just clicking compile/recompile/build button but they are not able to do even that? Thank you for your hard work, Netrve! Endorsed and voted for your mod
It's mentioned in the description, but if that explanation isn't good enough I can try to come up with a better one. Until then, I have updated the header image to better highlight what is changed.
I believe that in vanilla skyrim, the diamond in the UI represents that the item is best in its class, ie light helmet, heavy torso, one handed sword, two handed axe, etc. I think that this mod makes it so that it shows best in terms of all torso pieces, helmet pieces, leg pieces, arm pieces, one handed, two handed, bow, and arrows.
