I have recently found one issue: Go to "C: Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonSkyrimDatameshesTerrainTamrielTrees" and delete the LST file (should be at the bottom of the list). This should fix any ugly-looking tree LOD's Meshes (Looks like they were scissored in half and stuck back wrong).
TO EVERYONE HAVING THE LOD LOW RES/UGLY 2D ASPEN TREE ISSUE!
This is a great mod and even though its a few years old now, I'm using it and recommend it. It's just totally another Skyrim with this mod. But there are a couple of places people are seeing these 2D low res aspen trees. You can read below and above my post where one suggestion is to delete the only file from the meshes folder (E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim \ Data \meshes\Terrain\Tamriel\Trees) that ends in .lst. Problem: I didn't have that file in the folder and I still had the tree bug. Another suggests to just delete all the files (all the meshes) from the that same folder. Well, yea, that takes care of it but all the meshes are gone.
WHAT I DID
I systematically went through and removed groups of files from the meshes folder until the low res trees went away, added files back again, and then I narrowed it down. DELETE ONLY THE FILE CALLED Tamriel.4.-16.-4.BTT from the meshes folder! Be careful there are several files named similarly so watch for the dashes and dots in the name. I deleted only that one file, the mod works beautifully as the mod author intended, and the low res 2D trees are gone!
I'm still having the LOD issue with your mod (even though i have uninstalled it and even made a new savegame). I very much want to reinstall this mod, but i simply cannot go on with these hideous flat textures in certain areas. Hopefully you get this. Anyway, my question:
Does your mod only add files to the game, and not replace or override, so I can possibly attempt to manually go into my files and remove them?
I've decided to give this mod another chance, because despite the bug which I reported to the author months ago, I've always thought this is a very good mod. And I'm very glad that I installed this mod again. I'm using it along Skyrim Flora Overhaul and Skyrim Bigger Trees Smaller version, and it looks magnificent - Skyrim's Pine forests actually look and feel like forests. Beautiful.
This mod is awesome, and I recommend it to everyone who wants to make Skyrim's Pine Forests actually look like forests, especially if you have a good graphics card, like a GTX 670/760 (or superior).
I got to avoid the bug I mentioned before about the flat low resolution trees, installing only the mod's esp file and ignoring the meshes file that comes along. That way, no flat low resolution trees can be found.
The meshes in this mod and the meshes in Skyrim Bigger Trees conflict with one another. Which should take priority, i.e. which should come LAST in the load order? I'm thinking Skyrim Bigger Trees should come last?
I'm not sure what has happened, but it seems that in the places where you added trees for me (i installed this mod quite a few months ago) also have this hideous flat low res tree texture sticking out of the same spot the trees are. It's like paper thin and can be stepped through. Ive tried removing the mod, which eliminated the actual added trees but the hideous texture is still there. Please help me fix this.
edit: I also cannot find any LST file in the folder you said. All i see is BTT files.
edit2: I hate to be that guy but... I've been waiting for help for quite as while. PLEASE reply soon. Even after deleting the .esp file from my data folder the tree LOD issue remains, even in a new save. I dont want to just blindly delete important things.
I did that a while ago, and it didn't fix anything. The LODs remained. I didn't always have the LOD issue, which is the weird part. It's as if they just showed up one day. I can't select them via console either.
Well, months ago I decided to install this mod but had to stop using it, then I lost interest on using it, because at that time, the fps drop it was causing was too much for me to keep the mod. Then, I decided today to give it a try again, and I'm happy that now the mod works well for me due to several performance improvement techniques I've done to my game configuration, and in special after installing one miraculous mod, Safety Load. The forests really look like forests now, and Skyrim look so much more beautiful and immersive that really there's no way to get used to the vanilla forests again. Thank you so much!
EDIT: I think I've found a bug that's very likely related to this mod: In the middle of the tundra between Rorikstead and Sleeping Tree Sanctuary area, there are some big low resolution aspen lods, which are completely out of place and look ugly, because the lods do not change into full detailed trees as we approach. I would very much like to know if there is a fix for that - Prior to finding this bug, I've already deleted that LST file. Anyway, I cannot play Skyrim again without this mod.
...oh no. Is it a wall of them? All in a straight line? If that's the case, then there's a good chance that the LOD fix that I used for the most recent version didn't completely remove the issue (Check the screenshots for reference)
Well, I had to remove your mod once again, even though I still like it. Yes, it's like a wall of some (not many) huge aspen lod trees, visible from far away, in the tundra near Rorikstead. Besides, the lod trees overall are bigger than they should; when we get near trees, they suddenly get to their normal sizes, about half of the size they had at distance, so it's a bit distracting, but those bugged aspen lods in the middle of the tundra is more annoying because the trees are just low resolution lods no matter if we approach them or not, and they are completely out of place, groups of aspen trees are not supposed to grow in the tundra regions. After removing the mod, the weird aspen lods were removed from the tundra as well. Hopefully you will able to fix that issue. Between, I still think this is a nice mod and I still keep my endorsement. And thank you for still being willing to give support for users of this mod, which isn't a so usual attitude among mod authors.

If you download and install the most recent version and over-write (Keep that LST file in mind) does that fix anything?

Maybe they updated the scripts... but the trees shrink when you approach them? I didn't re-size anything... Where is this happening?
