Work on the update is well underway, with some quite major changes, based in part on user feedback.
Activating a shrine will now bring up a messagebox, welcoming the player to the shrine and asking what they would like to do here.
Option 1: Just pray
If the player selects "just pray", then the player will be switched into 3rd person mode and an animation of the player praying will be played.
There is a very small chance that the god will hear the prayer and respond. The vast majority of the time nothing further will happen - a message notification will tell you that the god has not responded on this occasion - the prayer animation will finish and the player will be put back into first person mode.
Option 2: Offer donation of 100 gold
If the player selects "offer donation of 100 gold" then 100 gold will be removed from the player and there is a 25% chance that the god will respond. Otherwise a message notification will tell you that the god has not responded on this occasion.
Option 3: Offer donation of 500 gold
If the player selects "offer donation of 500 gold" then 500 gold will be removed from the player and the god will nearly always respond.
Once the god responds, the reward (as before) will be based on certain conditions.
- If the player has just prayed, then the maximum they will get is the standard (default) blessing. Prayer alone will never gain the superior version of the blessing.
- If the player has donated 100 gold, but has committed offenses contrary to that particular god, the donation will be taken by the god but the blessing will be refused. Atonement is possible in most cases. - If the player has donated 100 gold, and has done nothing to offend the god, the standard blessing will be granted. - If the player has donated 100 gold, and has generally followed the teachings of that particular god to a certain degree, then the blessing will be granted, and 50 gold returned to the player with a notification that the god has returned the money in order to encourage further good deeds, and to spend it in service of spreading the teachings of the god. - If the player has donated 100 gold, and has followed the teachings of that particular god to a large degree, then the blessing will be granted and the full 100 gold returned to the player, with a notification that the god has returned the money in order to encourage further good deeds, and to spend it in service of spreading the teachings of the god.

I'm also looking into applying the wearing of a corresponding amulet to the chances of receiving the blessing - for example a 25% chance of succes when donating 100 gold would be changed to a 50% chance of success when wearing the amulet of that particular god.
The contentious animal-killing penalties of worshipping Kynareth have been toned down - now, rather than being penalised for killing animals, the player will gain additional rewards for not killing them.
New addition: Talos will now have a reduced cost/superior blessing - as patron of questing heroes, Talos will reward the player based on number of quests completed.
So far, both Kynareth and Julianos are completed, and I'll be working on the others over the next few days. If you have any suggestions or issues with the way I've changed things, please let me know now before it's too late!
I have an idea for Akatosh and Talos, respectively.
Akatosh: reward (less gold/free blessing): regular praying (make time for him each day), civil war (either peaceful resolution or choose a side, just FINISH it) punishment: no prayers, let the civil war go on indefinitely
Talos: reward (less gold/free blessing), protect Talos worshippers, carry an amulet of talos in your inventory, stand against the Thalmor, learn shouts, save Paarthy
As for Stendarr, it is a real pity that he is so dead-set against vampires/werewolves. I actually don't care as much about the vampires, but curing lycanthrophy is something I am loathe to do. Is there a way to convince Stendarr that though you are a vampire/werewolf, your soul is not corrupted? (By finding an alternate way to feed/kill undead as a werewolf/help others cure their disease, help the vigilants, even)? But as this stance of being unforgiving toward vamps/weres isn't new, it unfortunately makes sense that there is no way too- I'll just ignore his blessing then. Unless I find a functioning lightweight mod that fits into the world and feels as if it has always been part of the game that allows me to transform into a wolf another way (a strong one that's leveling with you to stay viable in later gameplay), I won't cure lycantrophy
Again, with Stendarr, I think you should be able to atone for being a werewolf/vampire for longer than 7 days if you cure yourself. You could RP a character that struggled to find a cure, because the disease kept overpowering him/her.
This is an interesting concept. I suggest that the blessing of Kynareth would not count killing of hostile animals, but only of bunnies, chicken, deer and such.
You could also implement a penance system, that a player who has angered a divine can go on some quest or pilgrimage to regain favor.
Ok, I'm gearing up to finally get out a completed version of the mod! This is your last chance to make your thoughts and suggestions known - I'll be working on the scripts over the next couple of weeks.
The mod is it's current state works fine, but I still need to add advanced shrines for the remaining few divines, and I want to tweak the current blessings.
what about Nocturnal? sure she's not exactly one of the divines but she still has a shrine in the thieves guild AND MANY houses use her shrine along with the other deity shrines
For future forum searchers, this mod is compatible with MasterBobcat's Cleric mod ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59932 ) and Legacy of the Dragonborn (specifically, the Relics of the Crusader quest).
Arkay and Stendar should forgive you if you cure yourself. Making up for the fact that you went too far into being a vampire or werewolf by honoring them when you cure yourself. And maras aspect should be more focused on marriage then murder, because Mara don't care. If I married the apothecary from the Dark Brotherhood quest by killing another girl. Would that appease Mara or make her mad? She cares just about as much as any other god. (except for talos and stendar) Idea for Talos is you get a bonus if you joined the civil war (god of war) and a bigger bonus if you ended it OR Bonus depends on how many thalmor you kill with penalties for not killing them. In general REMOVE the permanent THIS GOD WONT FORGIVE YOU NOW GO WORSHIP SOMEONE ELSE LIKE DEBELLA OR TALOS or make EVERY god have that. There is also a shrine to Nocturnal. Look into that
Issues in real life have sadly prevented me from making much progress - but I haven't forgotten about this - I would very much like to get this finished and working in my own game, and as soon as I can find the time to finish and test thoroughly, I'll release an update.
