Sad that doesn't work to wheel...it dismisses the horse effectively but the horse doesn't walk to his stables.. it stays static on the place you dismiss him...
I will not keep the Mod activated cause I have no idea if this starts failing later but this is the simple Mod I have seen so far for horses..
It is very annoying that you want a Mod to dismiss or call your horse when you need it and all you get is script heavy mods with a lot more options then that..a Mod like this should be remade cause not everyone wants all the stuff other horse mods are offering...
I for example have already a lot of heavy script mods and can not install those complex horse mods...
hope some one will pick this up and remake this as simple as it is...
Yes, I know, it does take a little getting used to, but it does work. Hopefully this example will answer your questions.
ok, lets say you just went to whiterun and bought the horse from the stables there.
You bought it, it is yours. Mount your horse for just a moment and then dismount. now what just happened is that the game has set a variable called "PlayersLastRiddenHorse". This variable contains the ref of (drum roll plz.) the horse you last rode, which in this example is the whiterun horse.
Now you can use the "Spoon of Horse Dismissal" to "dismiss" the horse. If you notice, you no longer own the horse at this point. It is still "yours" in the sense of the stables quest, you did pay for her after all... but wait there is more...
Now fast travel to a nearby location (or even the same location you are in) and then fast travel (or walk) back to the whiterun stables, notice that the horse is back standing in her stable, but you still do not own it...
Now use the Spoon again to reacquire ownership. At this point you own the horse again and can freely ride it without it being considered stealing. You do not have to buy it again. The horse will stay in it's "home stable" until you ride it again and will not fast travel with the player, UNTIL YOU RIDE IT AGAIN.
If you ride a different horse after dismissing, but before reacquiring, then yes, the original will be "broken" (but easily repaired in the console)
You could go do this to every player horse in the game and any custom horses as well, I use a custom made horse and it works fine. Only stolen horses it seems do not count. (They do not seem to get put into the lastridden variable)
ah i see. thanks! well i'd be using this basically so i could "free" my horse if i took the boat or carriage. it just feels weird to take a means of transport only to have my horse waiting there lol. then i'd buy or steal a new horse at the new location. so what is the console command to fix a broken horse?
finally. thank you so much ill endorse as soon as im allowed to. can you make it so you can leave the horse at any stable. maybe the spoon could edit the stable id number or something you could pick where i should wait. this is a great mod i'm gonna use it but theres gotta be a way to be able to secure a horse to stay at a stable whatever scripting magic you have to do maybe you could transfer ownership to the stable master. right now im gonna try just reliquishing ownership and then buying another horse when i need one. if only you could sell them back. ioh well ive got too much gold anyway it will make me have to manage my money instead of just piling up the stack and stacks of gold edit; interestly i have a horse, brute, that was added by some mod i think it might be expanded towns and villages, he is a grey horse from rorikstead. he stays where i put him exactly when i disown him with the spoon so i leave him at windhelm stables then i can pick him up there he doesnt go back to rorikstead.
If I start adding packages/scripts/etc to the horses then we run into compatibility issues with other mods, I'm trying not to add anything to the horses. There is probably a way to do it, I just haven't thought of it yet. I shall add it to my ever growing "List Of Things To Look At"
The reason your horse, Brute, isn't going anywhere is probably because it's default AI package is set to just stand in "Current location" when it has nothing else to do. The vanilla horses have default AI packages set to go back their "Editor Location" when there is nothing else to do. (which only means they sort of remember where they were originally placed within the game. (aka: the stable you bought it from))
*edit* and I forgot to say: Thanks! I'm glad you find the mod as useful as I. Those were actually my first words after I fast traveled and looked around there was no horse sticking it's nose in my face yet again. I said "Finally."
well since this works maybe you simply make an optional file that adds a custom horse with just such an ai package that the player could use if they want to have the horse stay where they stable it. either way ive got mine working fine and good and i hope others discover this fantastic mod thanks.
this might come in handy. i was gonna use a mod Travel by Boat, and felt it odd that i'd steer a boat somewhere only to have my horse waiting there. was wanting a way to dismiss that horse, take the boat, and get another horse at new destination. this would be great except that u kinda break the old horse when u get a new one. fix that and i'm all in
edit: wait does this actually "break" the old horse, as in you can't use it at all (without console)? or do u just have to buy it again? i could handle just buying it again. or in my case i have a mod (Mennowar http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20133) that adds some free horses around to use. if i dismissed one of those, then rode a new horse, could i ride the Menowar horse again for free, or would it be considered stealing it?

and then do "SetOwnership PlayerFaction"
that should do it
