For anyone who struggled to make it work with MO2: you have to delete that controlmap_custom.txt in `Mod Organizer 2\Stock Game`

I'm trying to get this to work in SSE, I've extracted the contents in the data folder and I've succesfully run the program and re-mapped the controlmap.txt but I see no changes in the game. What might I be doing wrong? Is there another control mapping-file that needs to be removed?

Never mind, it worked, I just had to manually edit the controlmap so that LB was set first in multi-key combinations. Great mod!

Long shot, but you don't happen to remeber how exactly you did that because if you mean manually as in opening up the txt and change it there then would you be willing to share your knowledge

Simply incredible. Works for SE and Better than all the other controller mods that have funky complex controls such as forcing normal actions as LB+"controller button" whilst completely removing D-PAD functions, or completely removing all keyboard binds to work. With this you can make your own control scheme using your controller and menu functions work fine (such as being able to use D-PAD in menus"

    Kept most controls stock but here are some of my personal changes;

    • B - Power Attack Modifier (for MCO moveset mods) - I use Elden Power Attack, OCPA has a weird bug that makes block stick until you press it again
    • X - Lock on (from True Directional Movement)
    • D-PAD L - Sheathe
    • D-PAD R - Tween Menu
    • LB+Start - Map
    • LB+D-PAD L - Hotkey 1
    • LB+D-PAD R - Hotkey 2
    • LB+D-PAD UP - Zoom In
    • LB+D-PAD DOWN - Zoom Out

This is a literal godsend, thank so you freakin' much. Works perfectly with SSE, too! It seems like it only edits the lines you've changed when you've saved to file, which is incredibly smart, and means that any new controls added to the game since this was published just stay unchanged. (The only one I've noticed so far is downloadall, which I assume is meant for the Creation Club/bethesda.net integration... and nobody really uses that anyway.)
Also, for those of us with more mods than sense and a number of keybinds to go with them: If you want to bind functions to button combos, be sure to check the box for Order Is Important. It'll make your life a lot easier by actually recording the order in which you press your buttons for the combos - so be sure to press the buttons in the order you'll be using in-game!
Also also, if you're using MO2 like every sane person, be sure to run this through MO2 like any other program. You can also delete the controlmap.txt included in this mod and use one from another mod as a base; I use Controlmap.txt Fixed and Cleaned.
Edit: Actually, probably don't run this through MO2... it seems to have the glitch where MO2 doesn't recognize changes to the file. So I just put my controlmap.txt in like a manual install and ran the program outside of MO2. Edit again: Actually it was just me being stupid and forgetting to delete contromap_custom.txt. But I'm keeping it as a manual install because that's easier, and the glitch is still a thing.

program freezes after every bind and won't save file. when i name and save, it just opens another "save as" window, and doesn't actually save anything.

Was having the same issue. Found a workaround. Save over another text file instead of making a new one. Worked for me, only tried it once.

This is the mod I've needed for so long - Thank you!  I can keep mostly default vanilla bindings (which I'm used to) but add 8 useful hot keys and free up other buttons if necessary. I've simply swapped D-pad up to act like a shift key.
Query - Would it be possible to add re-mapping functionality for other mods I've downloaded such as Quick Light? or Dual wield blocking?
