This modification (ini tweak) is fantastic! I absolutely love it! I cannot praise the author enough for making this available to me. It makes my game look wonderful and does so in such a way as to leave me with sufficient headroom to use other mods if I so choose. This is something I couldn't do before without experiencing stuttering or texture tearing.
Well done Hexaae and thank you.
Yes, I do think it's an artistic choice.
I'll be using these files from now on, and see no reason to make any tweaks myself. Endorsed.
I have some questions about default settings. Does it change the default setting from launcher? Like Ultra, high, medium? Is it okay if I open launcher, of should I make your ini file read-only? Thanks.
However, I have 1 question.
I really like Vividian ENB. If I were to use it with these tweaks, would the outcome cause issues with the way some things look? Currently without major tweaks to the INI files I do not have any visual issues and I also run Pure Weathers, and ELFX and ELE together. (ELFX and ELE are essentially lighting mods, that don't conflict with each other - ELFX edits image spaces, makes for some nice effects that vanilla game doesn't have, even with tweaks) and I also use re-texture mods because there some I really like a lot, but still don't deviate much from the vanilla art style or design, just makes it better than it was, and higher quality. I do not get much FPS loss.
I guess I could just try these and see for myself what happens. I suppose the main question that matters the most to me to get an answer for is if I don't force AF 8x in my Nvidia Control Panel - use SMAA (with Skyrim Launcher AA and AF turned off) and use the ENB AF 16x - will that work out alright? Or will I still need to force AF in my Control Panel to get the desired effect?
And i guess their speaks nothing against trying to actually enhance this with ENB rather then to change it
and yeah some mods are pretty early they cant replicate all these imagespace and weather state visual unique differences.
Sometimes less is so much more great work
With ENB we can add so much great visual stuff to this apart from changing the color grading
Stuff that Bethesdas Artists would have loved to see adding value to their incredible art direction
Of course this comes at a performance cost, that's not so low.
Still waiting on just the actual settings that pertain to this tweak, without all of the other changes you've made to the .ini files.
[General]
fBrightLightColorB=1.0000
fBrightLightColorG=1.5000
fBrightLightColorR=1.2000
[Display]
fGamma=1.3700
theres other shadowing ini setting but probably personal preference like the sunupdatetreshold witch i like at lower #
The key settings should be:
Skyrim.ini
[Display]
bDo30VFog=1
bDoTestHDR=1
bAllow30Shaders=1
bUseSunbeams=1
[bLightAttenuation]
fLinearValue=5.0000
SkyrimPrefs.ini
[General]
fBrightLightColorB=1.0000
fBrightLightColorG=1.5000
fBrightLightColorR=1.2000
[Display]
fGamma=1.3700
But there are other minor adjustments in SkyrimPrefs.ini and Skyrim.ini that contribute in better texture rendering (e.g. bAllowPartialPrecision=0). Not using my original settings may reduce overall quality and have a bit different results, compared to my sshots.
I use these settings on my MSI GX660 with AMD 7970M 2GB DDR5 (FullHD 1080p)+ i7 840qm happily and feel no need of ENB or other fx/filters.
[General]
fBrightLightColorB=1.0000
fBrightLightColorG=1.5000
fBrightLightColorR=1.2000
[Display]
fGamma=1.3700
[bLightAttenuation]
fLinearValue=5.0000
had the most profund impact, and it's quite obvious what they do.
bDoTestHDR=1
bUseSunbeams=1
iTrilinearThreshold=3
however, i couldn't see a difference (performance stayed the same as well).
do you have a more indebth explanation, what they do, or where i could see those settings in effect the best?
maybe a source for those tweaks, or some screenshot comparisons?
so, i'm at a loss. many of these settings come from that one console command, that lets skyrim export and produce a complete ini file. or from just trying some settings that were present in earlier games. and often this can lead to a corrupted game (at least visually, until the new ini file is deleted again).
and a thorough rersearch on which setting works in skyrim and what is does is no where to be found, with just these settings magically popping up on the internet by random people.
don't get me wrong, i like to experiment with the ini and try to improve the game, but i'm also curious to learn what each setting does and never copy over a while ini at once.
so thumbs up for the havok settings and the light adjustments.
but i'm not totally sold on the three settings i mentioned yet. but maybe i'm just missing the obvious, and didn't look at the right place to see an improvement. And while i like improvements, that don't cost me fps, i dislike shady settings, where i don't know where they are in effect. for the havok settings i can just stresstest my system with a Fus ro dah in any house in skyrim and see if i like the changes and/or the performance (and i did). i like to do that for any setting actually.
edit: so far i could only find, that skyrim configurator has at least two of these settings supported.
Remember also to force AFx8+ from your gfx card driver panel for more detailed textures, not just from game settings!
i guess what you are saying is: these are high quality tweaks, maybe not visible on my setup (since i allready don't use such high quality).
i'll be using the color tweaks, and be happy with them. thank you.
i think should i ever get a better equipment to run a realy high texture settings, i will come back and give those high quality tweaks another try.
Been using most of your mods lately, and discovered this one by your profile.
It really is a very good configuration you got here! I'm using only the changes mentioned here on the comments with Relighting Skyrim and like it so much that I even went into Relighting Skyrim mod and advertised this mod so that others can discover it too.
In light of that I would suggest you add these configs to the read me within the download, so people can find what to tweak easier if they have their own tweaked ini already (like me).
I dropped other lighting and weather mods now that this simple solution fixes the horrendous washed out colors of vanilla and lets us see Skyrim for what it really is, without making it appear like tropical summer.
Congratulations on bringing this config up and thank you for sharing it with us!
