ATTENTION! Please check the FORUM section of this page for a relevant thread before posting here! I'm trying to separate the comments out so that the more dire support related ones may be answered first.

As the general discussion here is getting hard to follow and use to discuss, I've created several threads under the FORUMS tab above, so please use them if they apply to your comment. I will add and tweak the topics as needed.

This general area (Where this post is) may be used for the general stuff. Wish to give props for the mod? Post a spoiler free review about your time there so far? Give constructive feedback? Do it here. For the specific issues/topics, please use the appropriate FORUM thread so it's easier to track and not just one giant mess.

I'm still enjoying this, thanks for a very in-depth experience, and I have some feedback on what I think so far.

*Plot: Very interesting and largely well-done, but the suspense-building moments are not well thought out. Why can't I step in and tell the Jarl that I can take all these idiots by myself? For that matter, why doesn't he ask me and the housecarls to hold them outside while he tries to escape in another direction, then get surprised and impressed when the three of us (or just me for that matter) wipe the floor with their backsides? Plus, since it's obvious letting the bad guy get the McGuffins is world-ending, isn't it worth all our lives to keep them away from him anyway? Worse than that, in the final scene, why the HELL do we just stand there listening to speeches when a SMART person would attack before the shield goes down? Instead of building suspense and a sense of drama, these moments just built frustration and a sense of "Gods, what are you DOING?" Bear in mind, however, that these were the low points; it was still certainly a story worth playing through.

*Map: Jury's out on this one. It's very simple compared to Skyrim's map; instead of Skyrim's breathtaking bird's eye view, it looks more like an RTS map. On the other hand, that makes it a lot easier to make sense out of; there's virtue in simplicity, and I'm really not sure where I stand on the balance between functionality and aesthetics. I guess I'll just say, "Huh, different strokes for different folks, and I like them both equally."

*Voice acting: Mostly brilliant; the accents were lovely to listen to and felt, honestly, more Skyrim-ish than the ones in Skyrim. I especially love listening to Jalma, with Svea a close second. I think they were the best. (No, sorry, not the Jarl; he sounded forced. I think his actor was trying too hard.) On the down side, some death dialogue sounded like someone making a casual remark. <Sword slash> "Oops, I failed." "Oh, hello spleen, how's your morning?" "Oh, huh, there's my guts on the floor." "Hi, I'm dying, how about some mead?" Some of the extras need to work on sounding like they're in pain when they're voicing a death.

*Terrain: Beautiful. The map may look like an RTS layout, but when you're actually running through the woods, it's a lovely experience, no question about it. Did feel a bit empty though; could've used more farms and so on.

*Music: I'm pretty sure I heard some custom music in here, but I'm not totally sure, because if there was, it fit Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls in general as well as the vanilla music. So if there was custom music, absolutely bravo here. No downside this time!

not sure what mod you are talking about but this one's ending was... *building suspense* *building suspense* *building suspense* dragon appears that is not mentioned at all in the story, magically appears and the end... that is the dumbest ending to a half decent story i have ever seen.

There are fifteen original tracks which are all great and fit in perfectly. You can even download them separately which is a nice touch.

This is the first time in a very long time I've ever played a story that felt like it was actively disrespecting player agency. Why the f*#@ are there three separate instances of me just standing there while a villain monologues? Why are there so many locked doors that block my progression behind waiting for NPCs? Why do I have to wait until NPCs walk (not run) to destinations that I can clear out in less than a minute? FFS, you don't even get to kill the villain.  You could take out the entire player character and the story would go almost exactly the same; someone else would just need to be the errand boy.

Like, I have issues with a lot of Skyrim story mods because they take away the power fantasy aspect inherent to the game; but Falskaar goes further by making you feel like a sidekick at best.

At the very least, I didn't experience any bugs that weren't the cause of me exasperatedly using enableplayercontrols and sgtm 3. So no complaints on that front.

Skyrim does the same like when you are magically kidnapped by Astrid or when Harkon uses advanced vampiric sorcery to make it impossible to even raise your sword the first time you visit his castle (he never does it again for some reason). Though I agree that the main story here leans a lot on stunning the player and at times it probably could have been avoided. For example they could have made the villain monologue from the an inaccessible hill or have him teleport like Mankar Cameron did in Oblivion. Was there really a reason to stun the player when he's sitting at the dinner table? I imagine the stun was used as a simple solution to other problems that would otherwise arise from leaving or attacking NPCs in those moments.

The best parts are the story, quests, and characters. The characters and the voices are great. I love the difference between the different characters which is a good change from Skyrim where sometimes all NPCs sound the same. The ability to buy a house and its secret are also fun. It is impressive how even some irrelevant side quests turn out to be enticing and creative.

The terrain is not the best though. It feels like the terrain, the landscapes, the map in general, were an afterthought. I felt that Skyrim's or Bruma's landscape are a lot more interesting, lively, and well-designed. The enemies are bland as well. Bandits, necromancers, and some animals. In a few dungeons there are other old enemies from Skyrim like draugur and dwarven robots but I couldn't find anything new. There are almost no new items too so the bandits and guards you fight all look very similar. I wish the evil guards or bandits had some kind of cool niche or interesting gear to them.

Does this work with Nolvus? Tried loading the game in Mod organizer but it doesn't start with this mod in load order

Nolvus is only for Skyrim AE (SE with the full AE bundle).  This is the Skyrim LE page for Falskaar.

A good stories with a shitty ends, both Vernan and Yngvarr. Wtf, man. Falskaar definitely needs some strong bosses.
And why can't I revisit a Mist temple? Or Borvald, such a nice city? What's beyond the Northern Pass? What's that nameless fortress nearby Splinterrock point? Many questions...
Nice piece of land with nice people, though. I quite enjoyed it.

Beautifully laid out "DLC". not too far fetched from the original lore. Would recommend!

I actually never commented on Nexus but I felt the need to say it's one of the worst mods I have ever played, nonetheless I respect the work people have put into this (I guess ? even though it was absolutely horrible) but I can't recommend this mod to anyone, and I won't be talking about the boring map, quests, annoying and never-ending voice acting, this is about your taste I guess...

I'm talking about the game breaking bugs who made me tear my hair and click "disable" with a sense of hatred and relief. In the end I'm just glad it didn't corrupt my save and I'm still able to play the game with good mods without this pile of filth ruining my day. To avoid at all costs.

'Tis better to appreciate someone's tireless work than to criticize it over petty gripes. Thank you for this very fine, well made and involving mod. Great fun, good battles, things to work out on your own. Very enjoyable!
