I'm new to modding in general as well as playing Skyrim on anything other than a PS3 so please excuse my ignorance but I feel I have to ask...if this is made with vanilla resources, why would anyone have to contact you to change the model if the model is Bethesda's work? I ask seriously out of wanting to know more of the ins and outs of how this sort of thing works. xD
They would not have to if they started from scratch, but if someone takes this mod and changes it, then they should ask the mod author for permission because they are modifying his work.
Honestly, he's used Bethesda's meshes for the armour, I think it's more so he can try and include their mod as part of this one, OR include a link to theirs on this mod's page.
Could you possibly make a craftable unenchanted version for after you join the vampire side, I want to play as a spellsword character that has heavy armour, I was also thinking I should enchant the armour since player enchantments can go far beyond most of the pre-generated enchantments, but if there's only one set and it's pre-enchanted, I can't do this.
If you can add crafting, I will absolutely love you for ever.
Fantastic mod. I truly love this armor but i could never bring myself to wear it since it was light armor. This mod has really helped my playthrough. Thanks again
For the enchantment any chance of having it to be comparable to the Dawnguards enchantments on their apparel? Like a 25% resist against crossbows? Since the Dawnguard have a 25% resist against vampire attacks, including vampiric drain.
If your going to do variants like a Royal Vampire Heavy Armor and normal Heavy Vampire Knight Armor for stat wise I think for the standard heavy armor its fairly balanced to have it comparable to Dwarven just like the Dawnguard's heavy armor so both sides are balanced to each other. As for the Royal Vampire Heavy Armor I would say keep the same as you had- that being having the stats of the Blades Armor since both are very ancient, outdated armors, and relics of their times.
As for design maybe something similar to this http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59300/? Just maybe only one brooch of Molag Bal instead of two for the Royal version? And for the standard knights of the vampire court maybe just a giant Volkihar symbol on the chest plate (The Volkihar insignia is that boat steering wheel pendant from the common vampire armor) So fitted plates of armor to the already existing vampire hierarchy armor, turning the already existing gear into half plate or full plate armor.
As for tips in making an armor with edited appearance from vanilla skyrim assets maybe ask batmanna, the author of Warmonger Armory seems to have ALOT of skill and proficiency in that.
Anyways its great to see another vampire heavy armor mod, the other one I could find was this http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26290/? The only complaint of mine for that one was that it removed the vampire gauntlets with the sharp metal claws, would be awesome to have those in this one to stab through the Dawnguards chests!!
Wow, thanks for such a detailed reply. I'm glad that you like my mod and after taking the time to read your reply I think you've made a lot of valid points. I will, as soon as I get the time, edit in another set of armor with the enchantment comparable to the Dawnguard armor as you mentioned. I may also change the stats slightly so that the standard set mirrors Dwarven as the Dawnguard set does.
I really like that design idea that you mentioned and I will make an effort to contact batmanna, as to whether he's prepared to help me is another thing, but I will ask.
Also, thanks for telling me about the other set of Heavy Vampire Armor that's been published. I will be sure to draw potential ideas from this in order to improve my own work. Thanks for your comment!
No worries, the only other thing I could suggest is if your going to have a matching helmet to go with the set. To perhaps use something with an opening for the the mouth, a true vampire uses fangs it combination with its spells and weapons.
Ive always wondered why there wasnt heavy vampire armor, especially since im an orc. But one thing it should have is fire resistance, but this mod is great anyways
Really? I checked before posting the mod earlier and didn't find any others that did the same. I like your idea by the way, do you mean a hood like the one Serana wears in the sunlight?
This is the first mod I've seen that makes some heavy vampire armor. I love it, I always felt like I needed to be using light armor to be a vampire. I'd love to see a hybrid of steel plate and the vampire armor or something like that, but this is great for now.
Thanks, I'm grateful for your comment as this is my first stab at a mod and to know that people are using it means a lot. That would be a great idea, I was unable to change the model as my knowledge of modding isn't that advanced yet, however I will keep this in mind for future updates. Thanks again.
