As for the balance, it could make sense to combine it with a comparable soldier overhaul - the vanilla soldiers have 0.25 level multiplier and are no match to the squad added by that mod. On the other hand, you get the squad only after obtaining certain civil war rank, so initially you'll play without that boon.
This is already my fourth playthrough with this great mod, until I encountered these major bugs, plural.
- After the Battle of Whiterun (Imperial victory), I proceed to retake/invade some Stormcloak controlled holds. My second assignment was retaking Winterhold, the one with Hadvar telling me to save the prisoners before attacking the fort. Plot twist - Hadvar was disabled, so I re enabled him nearby the fort, but he's running away from our mission objective. But he still has the normal dialogue for the quest completion and we retook the fort successfully. Then a chain of more bugs occurred... - On my next assignments, Legate Rikke is wandering somewhere else in Skyrim shown in her quest marker, quite some distance away from our camp. I speak with the legate assigned in the camp to summon Rikke but she didn't move an inch from her wandering position, so I use the moveto player command to force summon her to the camp. Like Hadvar, she's walking away from the camp. Some side missions before the siege do still work, but the actual siege quest doesn't, where a notification "Alas, the siege quest did not start." shows up. I reload the save file to launch an off-screen battle. Sometimes the Stormcloaks resist. Sometimes, we win. But that bore the sheet out of me. - The worse thing is everytime I have a hold assignment, the Stormcloaks attack other holds. I was able to defend The Pale once with the mod feature from its legate. But my next defense quests starting from Riften c/o Legate Fasendil doesn't have the dialogue to defend the hold. So I tried my luck but it always end up to Stormcloak victory.
Long story short, the mod now wants me to launch off-screen battles and rely on my luck.
I already read from the Forums about this "Alas, the siege quest did not start." notification. And it bugs me out it doesn't have the exact way to fix em because something in the game prevents it from launching.
Good thing I have a backup save prior to launching the Civil War quest. Guess I have to restart it.
I don't think this is a bug. I'm not sure WHAT it is. I went into windhelm to join the stormcloaks, was checking out the map (i'd started it off a few game days ago, Pale had gone imperial, I'd captured a fort on stormcloak land to see if it would show on the war map) and...
I hovered over Falkreath, and it said "Crown Falkreath". Like "Imperial Solitude" or "Bandit Mistwatch", "Crown Falkreath" the flag may have been a shade darker green. I took screenshots... Did I find a test mode glitch? is it bleedover from another mod? Did I add in a Dragonborn Faction in my sleep?
I'm not going to join the war for know, I'll wander down there and see wtf is going on. and come back here tomorrow, hoping someone can tell me what it all means!!! Yes, BTW, LOTS of mods. True Thane? Organic Factions? Lucien?
UPDate: went to to falkreath, no visible problems. as I was entering Lakeview manor, I got a OCW notice in the top left corner that Falkreath had changed hands. I went back to the Jarl's hall the next morning, and, yes, Dengeir. went into the room with the stormcloak adjutant, looked at the map, and it STILL says "Crown Falkreath" on the Falkreath flag. This does not seem to be actually messing with anything, but, WHY is it doing it??
It is from the experimental version 2.7.0, in changelog there was the link to the image - it is the middle image of the five images usually displayed on a mod nexus page.
It was a different flag color test, so a different label was used, too. Per murky lore, long time ago, Falkreath was ruled by a king... Regretfully, "Crown" is not a suitable label, it clashes with the two Redguard factions called Forebears and Crowns.
Is there a way to safely uninstall this mod or to end the war with console commands? It's completely broke on the Rift siege. The battle for the city can't start, off screen is always a defeat, and I just keep getting quest to clear out the fort in Rift
It's a great mod, but i just saw the linear version but i don't see really some explications of what this version do so if you have already explain somewhere sorry can you explain to me what do this version ?
It's what it says in the changelog - no enemy invasions, follows vanilla order of hold conquering, and so on.
(the intent was to provide a way for compatibility with Extended Cut - but then Extended Cut was delayed some years and perhaps it will be different in that aspect)
Anyway who want to make the soldier stronger in this mod / siege / civil war quest. I made the mod for it. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/114714
instead the vanilla soldier level scaled to 0.25 of your level, i changed it to same as your level.

But yeah, this mod does not depend on SKSE or whatnot, and so, never was affected by the base game version updates
