The posts here are likely to be chock full of spoilers, dudes.
Easter Eggs, explained:
Spoiler:
Show
1. Eric the Cavalier was an arrogant but lovable character in the D&D cartoon. The portrait in his cell appeared on the title card of every episode. http://www.dungeonsdragonscartoon.com/2009/08/eric-cavalier.html 2. The +2 Backscratcher is based on a comic strip by Will McLean, found in the DMG. https://apaladinincitadel.blogspot.com/2010/04/more-old-school-d-cartoons-by-will.html 3. The impish face on the trapped floor tiles is of Grimtooth, from the Grimtooth's Traps series. https://geekandsundry.com/grimtooths-traps-are-an-old-school-way-to-cause-dd-chaos/ 4. Dirk the Daring is from the classic arcade game Dragon's Lair and its sequels. https://youtu.be/y6uEx5gWovA?t=430 5. The spell Saren's Best gets its name from the cleric character in comic book advertisements for D&D. https://i2.wp.com/www.anthonypryor.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/dndPt2_11_81.jpg 6. I didn't place this in the mod because I couldn't get the texture to meet my standards, but...use the console to search for "copper coin" to see 1cp. 7. Monteehal is an obvious pun of Monty Haul, itself a pun, referring to the kind of dungeon with little or no story and simple enter/fight/loot setup. The pun is that it is phonetically identical to Monty Hall, the host of the classic game show Let's Make A Deal, wherein a recurring segment was for contestants to choose one of three doors. And if you notice, the dungeon basically has three locked sections. 8. The chessboard floor was a recurring thing in modules and was used several times in the aforementioned Dragon's Lair. https://youtu.be/y6uEx5gWovA?t=430 9. A pale blue map on a grid was common in modules; the one for B2: Keep on the Borderlands being an iconic example. https://www.blackgate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/kotb_coc.gif 10. The TSR ampersand dragon is seen in the corners of all the portrait frames. Though I might not have used an old one. 11. Gremorly was a wizard in David Trampier's Wormy. He made a portal with calligraphy and used it to break into areas. http://multiverse.world/blog/2016/04/09/dave-trampiers-wormy-runes-mage-gremorly/ 12. Acererak......just Google it man. The risen version is based on Trampier's lich drawing, rather than try to copy from Tomb of Horrors. 13. There's something on this page that starts and ends with E. It's a free way to show love to modders. See if you can track it down, Scoob.
I beg of you, please make an SE version of this beautiful looking mod. The memories the pics bring back are priceless. Lack of players, time and conflicting adult schedules is why I'm playing Skyrim and not old school games laden with Tramp and DCS art.
By the way, if anyone is interested in a rerelease of my (long-deleted) mod ZardHats, the ORIGINAL pointy-wizard-hat mod, please go here and leave a comment: https://yargcade.blogspot.com/2018/06/zardhats-rerelease.html
