This is one honey of a mod! I'll definitely bee using it from now on! This sure takes the sting out of those vanilla models and textures! A must-hive mod for every load order! What a buzz to find a gem like this after all the hours spent combing the Nexus!
This is beautiful! Endorsed! Are you open to suggestions for other mods? If so I'd love to see a moth re-texture with a fuzzy body! I tried to follow your tutorial to make one myself, but I've never used any of those tools before and i became extremely confused and frustrated. I tried looking up tutorials on how to use the tools, but I still couldn't figure it out. I really wish somebody would make a shell texturing video showing step by step how to do it. If there are any videos out there like that, could somebody please link them? I looked for some, but I was unsuccessful in finding any.
Not only that. As the description says, in vanilla Skyrim, walking into a butterfly or similar critter will stop you like hitting a solid wall. The Unofficial Patch Project Team fixed that problem in the Unofficial Skyrim and Dawnguard Patches, but the way they fixed it made the critters immune to projectiles. That mod simply fixes collision on critters so they can be walked through, while still allowing them to be hit by projectiles and melee attacks. On top of that, it also makes insect ingredients float on water, and miscellaneous other fixes to critter meshes and physics. Therefore, it's actually a very important fixes, imo.
To allow you to walk through bees and still hit them: Open up bee.nif inside the archive with NifSkope, Expand NiNode > NiNode > bhkCollisionObject (only one of the nodes has this property). Select the bhkRigidBodyT node. Find the Layer property near the top. Double click on the current value (SKYL_PROJECTILE), click on the down arrow that just appeared in the field, select SKYL_BIPED. Save the mesh and repack it into the archive.
To make ingredients float on water: Open up beeingredient.nif (and any other of the ingredients you want to have float) in NifSkope. Expand bhkCollisionObject > bhkRigidBody. Select bhkConVerticesShape. change the Material Type from SKY_HAV_MAT_CLOTH to SKY_HAV_MAT_ORGANIC. Save the mesh and repack it into the archive.
I have confirmed in-game this will let you walk through the bees while still letting you hit them. For me hitting them with my sword would add it to my inventory, couldn't hit the jittery buggers with a bow and arrow though. Ingredients will also float and bob on water. The nifs from this mod are safe to run through the NIF Optimizer, so this mod is compatible with SE.
@aviform: I'd be more than happy to share the modified archive, and converted archive, with you so you may upload the fix here and make an official page on the SE Nexus. Send me a PM if interested.
For those going the realistic route: honey is heavier than water, but wax will float. Honeycombs are primarily wax so they should float when dropped in. Although the ones from this mod are dipped in honey so it's hard to say.
