Thank you so much for this mod!!! It fixed some mouth weirdness I had been having with the teeth poking out when they smiled and talked. Shudder. It was freaky-deaky before and made me want to cry. Now... me is happy!!!
Oot but whats that hair mod on the thumbnails? (Dark short haired smiling girl) i thought its ks hairdos but i search every one of them but i cant find it
i cant seem to get this to work in my game. is it just for PC? or for npcs too? anyone have any idea what im doing wrong? im using vortex by the way. i dont know if that makes a difference or not. my mods are cbbe - curvy fair skin complexion for cbbe v10 fair skin complexion v 10.1 RC2 (update file - contains face texture) expressive facial animation (both male and female versions) efa mouth - optional file (it doesn't ask me to over write anything when i enabled it tho)
also have: beards - Hvergelmir's aesthetics - beards 5.0 (needed for a male preset i downloaded) kshairdos renewal and salt and wind retexure. (also for the preset. not used for the npcs couldn't get it to work without dark head bug)
EFA is a mod that changes the expression tri files. Those tri files are applied to both player and NPCs at the same time. Problem is, player facegen is created at game start from installed meshes. NPC facegens are what is installed on your machine. Just installing EFA mouth mesh is only good for player. That is why sooo many people have problems with this mod. It'll work for player, but not NPCs...as they lack the needed mouth mesh built into their facegens. Followers and Overhauls must make facegens with EFA mouth mesh in order to be compatible.
Unless EFA has the upgraded facegens, then it is not standalone, or rather, it is incomplete. You can't create an expression mod that relies on it's own mouth mesh without applying that to all NPC facegens as well. I mean, you can, but then you end up with the buggy behavior that people report, lol. That is part of the reason I added this support for EFA in my facegen mod.
As for Followers and Overhauls, please look/ask for versions which specifically support EFA, as that will show they are built with the correct mouth meshes. I hope this helps make it clearer.
is this incompatible with OSA and its other plug-ins? I just got back after a while and installed OSA and a bunch of other mods that I can't tell what's what.
I really like how this mod makes skyrim's npcs just alive in conjunction with RDO, people that hate you scowl, people that like smile and all that. it even worked with the Bijin mods which made it double cool
edit: mixing up the load order or loading this in the bottom (MO2) doesn't work either.
love this mod thank you for your work! it has my favorite overall expressions. except there's 1 old mod that i keep going back to just for the 2 and 10 smile. it's eDialog... https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19169?tab=files
it's actually a mod to add blushing shyness, but that part of it many people had trouble with. i think it was just too script heavy if u had a lot of other mods. the blush would often stick and u'd get lotsa log spam, even w/ only that mod. BUT the tri files i used for years because they gave the most amazing smile i've ever seen in a mod. unfortunately there was no combat shout and the sad n fear expressions looked horrible. the brows looked like huge melting "U"s lol. here's some pics... some edialog smile pics and ugly ones ina folder https://www.dropbox.com/sh/m9sf63mmzx6v3sb/AAD6xGlJwd4zuVbWB1ZhGi_ra?dl=0

any chance we could get some sorta smile that is close to edialog? i really feel bad asking as i hate to seem ungrateful. it's just that smile is great but i love everything else in yours instead. thanks for reading!
There is an older version of EFA that has a toothy smile, so try that. There are no plans to make "dialogue happy" a toothy smile, since dialogue-type emotions are used in conjunction with lip-sync.
This question has been asked several times including by myself with no-one able to say, so I just went and tried it out. After about 10-15 hours of gameplay using this mod (and 1000s with the other), IMO, I'd say that this mod is more "expressive" (pun intended). Which specific expression side-by-side looks better is a matter of individual taste, so I can't comment there. Overall, if I were to compare it to TV, I'd say Female Facial Anim is like a UK show where emotions are kept more subtle (stiff upper lip and all that) while this mod is more like a daytime soap where people all overact somewhat.
Personally, for this game, I prefer this mod. With the size of an NPC head the size of a coin on the screen - "more expressive" is simply better to see by IMO.
Thanks for this, I wasn't aware there were two! My tri's got messed up and someone suggested I "fix" them by using this as a replacer, but I remembered the female expressions having a paralyzed upper lip... Installing this immediately!
