Can you create a video tutorial, focusing on just one tree? just an example.... I really have a hard time creating hybrid lod.

Hi PHmami, I will  see what I can do. But I have to update the process to a newer Blender version. I am using Blender 2.8x at the moment.

Well it will be soon in modders terms of soon. Since I am at the same time making new Dyndolod Ultra tree meshes for SFO. Sorry for the long delay.

Im very confused about ni and bs trishapes. I tried creating and doing 3d tree lods for skyrim 3d landscape but I just cant seem to import the file to blender, in fact I cant even load the file/mesh to nifskope 1.1.3 and optimize just like you said, the mesh wont come up and there are a lot of errors.

      Hi,
You have to delete certain nodes in the old version of Nifscope 1.1.3 especially the BsLightingShaderProperty nodes because Nifscope uses a certain nif.xml that has the information for the nif file that is to be used. You won't see the mesh in Nifscope 1.1.3 any more after deleting these nodes but it is still there because the vertex information is stored in the NiTriShapeData node. Keep in mind that you have to change the User Version and User Version 2 to the values 12 -> 11 and 83 -> 34 as mentioned in the tutorial. Set the Startup Version to 20.2.0.7 in Nifscope and pay attention to the Blender version and the nif plugin version. You can't use any version of Blender with any nif plugin version. The newest nif plugin that can be found on the niftools page is only working with Blender 2.8 and newer so don't use this version if you did so. You can try to use the Blender version on this page to import your meshes. https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/42755/?tab=files. You have to use the export options that I laid out in the tutorial. Which errors did you came up, either in Nifscope or in Blender ? By the way if you have any other Nifscope version on your computer in may be that the newest version is loaded automatically when you double-click a nif file. It happened to me on Windows 10 because windows somehow saves the program that you used last. In that case simply use open with in the context menu when right-clicking the file and choose the old Nifscope version. You have to use the old version of Nifscope after exporting the mesh from Blender and change the user version and user version 2 back to Skyrim values. I am currently testing the newest version of Blender and if everything works as expected I will rewrite the tutorial.

Personally I do not know or use Blender, but this looks very helpful. I will add a link to the ultra tree manual.

Not sure where you got this from, by default Skyrim LOD uses mipmaps just fine. When the LOD atlas textures are created, mipmaps will always be created automatically.

I also like to point out that creators should not overwrite/replace/edit any of the 3D tree LOD files included in DynDOLOD Resources.
In case edits are required, make a copy to a unique filename and use this new asset. This will ensure compatibility with other mods or future updates.

    Great job putting this together.

      Hi sheson,

thank you for your great tool! The exploration part of Skyrim got so much more interesting thanks to your mod. I added your information to the tutorial. I just assumed that LOD would use mipmaps looking at the LOD textures so that was just guesswork. Parts of the tutorial will be rewritten so that filenames will be unique when I find the time. Unfortunately, I didn't think of the compatibility aspect at all, sorry. Regarding some questions I have concerning the dyndolodtreelod.dds and Billboard.nif files where do I post these ?

      Thanks again.

    Hello SwatchSilver

Thank you very much for this tutorial.
Could you please consider adding a document version, an index and the page numbers on each page?
That would be helpful, thank you.

      Hi Spawnkiller,

unfortunately I have no commercial PDF Editor to provide an index. This document was made with Libre Office and exported to PDF. But I added bookmarks if that is helpful.

Thanks for your interest in my tutorial.
