You can feel the fatigue in your limbs. It's been a tough battle, and you're certain you'd be a lot warmer and a lot happier with a belly full of mead. But that's not the reality; these hostile lands want you dead and everyone despises you.
The voices are correct; we have take action.
Why SAIM?
There's one thing that has been in the back of my mind since i first played Skyrim: being a bad guy is kind of forced, unless you thoroughly use your imagination.
SAIM tries to fill that void, providing a gameplay mechanic based on psychological models, and an evil-aligned miniquest replete with atrocious acts that guides players into the initiation of the Dark Brotherhood questline.
I consider this mod an rp tool to justify the evil inside your character, and also for those who want their good characters struggle against their psyche.
Features

Oaths
- Swear an Oath at the beginning of your adventure. Face difficult choices that challenge your commitment, leading to dire consequences.
- After the game's introduction (Helgen's Keep/alternative), you can choose from one or more of these vows:
- Oath of the Sentinel of Life:
As a Sentinel of Life, you pledge to honor the sanctity of all living beings. This oath forbids the use of necromancy, ensuring that the cycle of life and death is respected.
(Character must not read, take or use necromancy spelltomes or necromancy staves)
- Oath of the Law Fearing Citizen:
As a Law Fearing Citizen, you pledge to uphold the laws of the land, driven by the fear of retribution should you be caught in wrongdoing.
(Character must not be caught red-handed commiting any crime)
- Oath of the Hunter's Restraint:
As a bearer of the Hunter's Restraint, you vow to respect the balance of nature and refrain from taking the lives of animals.
(Character must not kill any animal. Fishing is allowed. Dragons don't count as animals)
- Oath of the Pure Blood:
As a Pure Blood, you vow to remain untouched by the dark taint of vampirism or lycanthropy.
(Character must not become infected with Sanguinare Vampiris or transform into a Werewolf)
- Path Unwritten:
You have sworn your own oath, destined to define your journey and shape your fate.
(Player will be asked to write his character's custom oath. A spell, "Reflection of the Oathkeeper" will be added; using it will remind the character of the oath written, and asked whether it has been broken or not)
- Breaking any of your oaths will result in the Oathbreaker Affliction
Struggles
- Damage received, nighttime, and time spent in dungeons will increase the likelihood of becoming Battle Afflicted
Afflictions
- Both Oathbreaker Affliction and Battle Affliction will cause the character to start hearing Dark Whispers. This will not affect character's attributes
- Lover's Comfort earned by spending time with your spouse will protect your mind from them for limited time
Corrupted mind
- While under the influence of afflictions, and without the use of any psyche protection, the voices will grow stronger, urging you to commit heinous acts as you travel through certain holds and farms in Skyrim.
- List of locations where the evil-aligned quest can be triggered:
- Riverwood
- Falkreath
- Ivarstead
- Chillfurrow Farm
- Battleborn Farm
- MerryFair Farm
- Pelagia Farm
- One way of silencing whispers forever is by crafting improvised trepanation tools and using them from your inventory.
- Due to the nature of this procedure, there's a chance of suffering brain damage, decreasing your primary attributes regeneration.
Integration
SAIM counts with out of the box integration (powered by KID) with:
Stress and Fear - A Dynamic Sanity System
- SAIM's afflictions and use of trepanation tools increase SAF stress by 50 points
- SAF combat stress increases the chances of developing Battle Affliction
- SAF counts with multiple ways of decreasing stress, thereby decreasing those chances
Drink It Off
- Physical and Mental combat stress increase the chances of becoming Battle Afflicted
- Drinking decreases stress, thereby decreasing those chances.
