Changelogs
Version 1.0
Initial upload.
This mod contains hand optimized 3D LODs for NOTWL 2.4. Crowns are 3D and decimated. Trunks are a mix of 2D billboards, pseudo-3D billboards, and 3D decimated, depending on the shape and curvature of the trunk. UV maps have been reoptimized. Crowns are 40-65% less polygons than full models, and trunks are about 90% less polygons on average.
Instructions:
Let this mod overwrite NOTWL. Also, it's advised to delete the LOD meshes (the folder containing "alnus01_winter_78038D16passthru_lod.nif" and the ~30 other LOD meshes) that are packaged by default inside NOTWL (alternatively, when installing NOTWL, do not select the option for LOD assets to be included). Then run TexGen and DynDOLOD as normal. In TexGen, ensure HD Tree option is checked. In DynDOLOD, ensure that the Mesh and Reference rules for "tree" have "Level0" in the column "LOD Level 4". Also ensure that the Ultra box is ticked in DynDOLOD. In skyrimprefs.ini, set fBlockLevel0Distance to control how far LOD Level 4 is displayed; STEP says 25000 is High, 35000 is Ultra. Consult STEP guide or official DynDOLOD website for detailed TexGen/DynDOLOD instructions.
Compatibility:
Compatible with newest version of NOTWL, v2.4. Incompatible with NOTWL v1.21.
