This mod seriously needs to be updated. It's straight up missing files as there is no "bink2w64" in the download. When you try and install it it breaks nexus and you can't launch with SKSE anymore.
I'll just post this here so all the information is in one easy to read spot
" Got a message for you, your eyes only... Let's see here... "
1. Go to your Skyrim Special Edition root directory. This is the same folder where SkyrimSE.exe is, usually it's :
xxx:\ steam \ steamapps \ common \ Skyrim Special Edition
2. Rename the original "bink2w64.dll" to "binkw64_.dll" <--- notice that there's a _ at the end and that the 2 has gone now.
3. Download DLL Plugin Loader manually and place it somewhere other than the folder in step 1.
4. Open the archive from DLL Plugin Loader you just downloaded and rename the "binkw64.dll" to "bink2w64.dll" (the 2 has been added back).
5. Put the renamed bink2w64.dll into the folder mentioned in step 1.
6. If you did all of this correctly you should now have two files in your Skyrim Special Edition root directory : "bink2w64.dll" and "binkw64_.dll" .
7. Create a new file calledbinkw64.log In that same folder mentioned in step 1 . Make sure it says .log at the end, not.text !
8. In order for this mod to work you need at least one mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins in the Data folder with a .dll inside. Else you will see a message in the log saying :" Failed to get search handle to " Data \ DLLPlugins \ *.dll " ! "
9. If you have done all this you can start up your game without issues.
Hi.. first thanks for this.. im not sure what is this for but many suggest to install this.. now my problems is i dont have any mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins in the Data folder with a .dll inside.. any suggestion mod to install so i can make this mod works? thanks again..
Edit : LMAO.. i forgot that i install this as requirement for SSE FIXES.. after i installed SSE FIXES, it working fine.. Thanks again :D
There are 2 separate set of instructions. The first set of insturctions does not mention "bink2w64.dll". There is no "binkw64.dll" in the frsh install of the game. The instructions shown here are more precise. I had the same problem the first TWO times around because I was guessing on what to do based on the wrong instructions. Use these instructions:-)
but 1.6.64 has a 2 in the bink2w64 nowadays. This guide is from 2017? Does that not affect it at all? Shouldn't we either rename the file to bink2w64..?
I followed these instructions exactly and now every time I launch a pop-up appears named DLL Plugin Loader which says: Failed to find module! I have installed a mod that adds a DLLPlugins folder with a .dll file inside. What am I doing wrong?
If you followed the instructions like you should, you shouldn't get an error. Adding a mod only stops the " Failed to get search handle to " Data \ DLLPlugins \ *.dll " ! " message, not what you get. I'm pretty sure I have not seen that error message before on this mod.
Are you sure you did all the step in the PROPER way ? Renaming the original .dll etc ? Are you sure you've installed that added .dll mod properly ?
I don't get the step 8. We need to install a mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins in the Data folder with a .dll inside?? What is that mod? Is it on Nexus?
TURNS OUT ANY VERSIONS PAST 1.5.97.0 IS NOT SUPPORTED BY NETSCRIPTFRAMEWORK. IF YOU READ THIS COMMENT AND GET AN ERROR RELATED TO NETSCRIPTFRAMEWORK UPON LAUNCH, THAT'S MOST LIKELY IT
Hey! I followed your instructions to the letter twice but somehow it's not working, although I'm not sure if the error is related to your mod or to NetScriptFramework, which requires DLL Plugin Loader.
Here is the error message upon launching:

I'll ask the creator of that mod too, but I thought perhaps you could have seen that problem before!
This screwed up my game: it will NOT run with instructions followed clearly. I will now have to reinstall. It would be helpful if this were formatted as some sort of a downloadable mod through the Nexus or similar.
So i have installed a mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins with a .dll inside but my mod manager installs mods to my other drive and its now in "C:\Users\17372\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\Skyrim Special Edition\mods\SSE Fixes"
and it should be here "D:\Game Files\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data"
(edit) i fixed my log and loaded my game and it says "Checking "Data\DLLPlugins\FPSFixPlugin.dll" ... OK - loaded."
This might seem very dumb but... "Create a new file called binkw64.log In that same folder mentioned in step 1 . Make sure it says .log at the end, not .text !" what in the world do you mean by this? What kind of file? a folder? a word doc? im so confused by this step
I did a goof also! Make sure you have the two dll files in the Skyrim SE folder as mentioned. Then create the new folder .log (this should be empty). My mistake was to put the two dll files in the .log file. instant crash. (I'm owning this one.) :)
So I followed your instructions to the "T." I still have nothing showing up in my .log file. Im not sure what mod meets the "at least one mod that adds a folder named DLLPlugins" is. Can we be more specific like "What mod exactly" please, or how to allow permissions from the drive?
Sorry if I seem ungrateful, this is just frustrating getting SE up and running with unknown CTD's and I can find the issue. Thank you for your work in creating this mod.
what kind of file does the log have to be? like a textfile or something so long as it has ".log" at the end? [edit: nevermind, I read the other post about that. Sorry about that.]
Can someone give a list of mods that create a DLLPlugins folder ? I'm using Mo2 and I have installed about 40 mods yet but there is still nothing new in my DATA folder... Am I missing something ? [Edit] Nevermind I guess I was confused about what data folder we were alking about, I guess I'm good now
hey man, sorry to bother. But I tried to do as you said, downloading the mods that are needed... but it still gives me error and I don't understand much about it. Do you happen to have any ideas for a solution? Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!
Hey there, DarkDominion. I do have an issue here, but, before we get to that, GOOD JOB on explaining things better than the original author. That extra "2" on the DLL file seems to be affecting a lot of people because of the original guide had a typo in it.
Now, on to my issue: I got the Skyrim AE GOG 1.6.659 version installed. So, this whole ordeal is a no-no for me right from the start? :(
I don't use the GoG version, but after CTRL+F I found this post :
workandlife 08 February 2024, 12:03AM i am using skyrim gog. so while installing i found a bink2w64.dll file instead of binkw64.dll in root directory.so i: 1- renamed the original bink2w64.dll to binkw64_.dll 2- renamed modded binkw64.dll to bink2w64.dll everything seems fine so far. i just wanted to know is this for everyone or it just happened to me
Hey so I definitely did something wrong my game won't open at all now I downloaded the net script framework through vortex. I did everything else manually. Once I got to step 8 got confused like everyone else in here, but because nothing I downloaded added a folder titled DLLPlugins. The DLL Plugin loader was a zip file. and when I uncompressed it only gave me the bink.dll that i needed and an outdated readme but no uncompressed folder titled DLLPlugins. Sooo I created a folder within the data myself and titled it DLLPlugins then I dragged one on the bink.dll files and dropped it in there. Also I left the bink.log file in the preceding sse folder where the other bink.dll is. I hope what I did makes enough sense for someone to tell me what adjustments i need to make. Please be precise an keep the passive aggressiveness to a minimum, lol I get some of the younger and less savvy people can be a bit of a pain but im no newb or young anymore. Just extremely rusty thank in advance.
Sooo I created a folder within the data myself and titled it DLLPlugins
So far so good.
I dragged one on the bink.dll files and dropped it in there.
Nope, put that back into the game folder where the SkyrimSE.exe is
tell me what adjustments i need to make
You came to this page to download DLL Plugin Loader, probably because some other mod has it as a requirement. You need to download that mod that has DLL Plugin Loader as a requirement. It must be one of these mods (see Description page > requirement) .NET Script Framework Death By Projectile SSE Fixes All these mods have that folder named DLLPlugins in the Data folder and have a .dll file inside of it.
Hope this helps. ( Btw: I'm 55 myself, so I know all about "old" people )
I had this mod already installed, redowloaded to dll file, downgraded my game and it works like a charm! I tried enhanced camera but it was messing with other mods... and the FOV when you changed it in game, not a big fan.
Sorry man but I can't make txt file to log file because the ".txt" is not showing so I can't rename that part to change to ".log". Is there any alternatives? Thanks.
I did everything to a T and still didn't work ("the code execution cannot proceed because bink2w64.dll was not found")
Let's be honest here for a second.... If you really did everything to the "T", your game would be working. The people above you all made it happen with the same instructions.
So, try again and pay close attention to what I have written down. It Just Works™
So, does .net script framework just, not work anymore? I've done as instructed, and when I try to launch skse64_loader.exe, it throws up an error
Intitialization failed! Main::Initialize threw an exception. See `NetScriptFramework.log.text` file for more information. Message returned was: InvalidOperationException(Version library error: File not found. (NetScriptFramework.SkyrimSE.1_6_1170_0.bin)!)
Any advice, or does it just not work on modern versions of the game? If that's not the case, what am I doing wrong here?
EDIT: Removing .net script framework allows SKSE Skyrim to launch
Thank you! You my friend are a game saver. I was getting errors trying to follow along the instructions on the download page. These are so much easier to follow. :)
Many posted in the bug section maybe we should put your post as an answer! ;)
For those who it doesn't work : 1.
Basically rename your bink2w64 into binkw64_ (put an underscore and remove 2, download the file and extract it anywhere (desktop maybe?) then rename it (the one downloaded) bink2w64 then put it in your root folder where the one with the underscore is (the one you just changed) !
can you make it so i dont have to rename or create anything? whats the point of me having to rename and create things when you can upload with proper name and file? that's lazy no donations for you and avoiding your mod at all cost as well as telling newbies to stay away
I was using the mod Immersive First Person View (which stated it required this) but even installed, the game does not even recognize that this is installed and therefore does not work
I did this and now my game doesnt start at all anymore, how do i undo?
Same here. I think I messed up somewhere in the naming the wrong .dll or something...I probably shouldn't be doing this at 2am and half asleep. But, now I really boinked it up and I cannot even launch through MO2 with SKSE. I found a site that has replacement .dll's but there are too many to choose from I'm not sure what the original version was that came with SSE.
This is a warning for those who play on AE. This mod does not work on the newest version. I was doing fine installing everything from scratch but when I got to this damn mod (on the recommendation of stability guides) it messed up my entire loading order. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't start from MO2 so I tried directly from steam and found that I actually had to check files and download them again. In the end I decided to reinstall skyrim from scratch all thanks to this mod. If something like this happens to you remember that it is probably the fault of this mod and verify your files with steam (or if you have a backup delete the one from this mod and copy the backup)
dosnt work with gog's recent version and probably at all, but for some reason a lot of new mods are still using this even though their mod is compatible, anyone know of an update? um a certain wolly mod from a certain website needs this to work but they said that the version i installed is outdated, but yet this is the only version of the mod available so im confused.
I hope that was the least of my problems. On my skyrim it stopped being able to launch at all since I installed it. I tried everything until I verified files and it left me with extra copies of the files for this mod. It doesn't work with the most recent version.
My bink file is called "bink2w64.dll". I do have SKSE already installed, I tried adding the _ to the end of the old one and placing your file there in it's original name (no 2), and it wouldn't run the game, demanded the "2" version. Tried your file after adding the "2", and I get the same in-game message saying that the SKSE does not work with the current version of Skyrim. also worth noting, the readme file for SKSE says it supports 1.6.640, current version is 1.6.640.
I'll leave my email open if you want to troubleshoot: [email protected]
The file this mod modifies, binkw64.dll, no longer exists in versions of skyrim past 1.6; it was replaced by bink2w64. If you want this mod to work you will have to downgrade your game.
Tested WITH SSE Fixes on 1170 all good.. BIG fps difference! Works for me!
DLL Plugin Loader - rename the original bink2w64.dll to binkw64_.dll where -SkyrimSE.exe and SkyrimSELauncher.exe-- rename the -Dll Plugin Loader- binkw64.dll to bink2w64.dll - where -SkyrimSE.eixe and SkyrimSELauncher.exe- Create a new file called -binkw64.log - Make sure it says .log at the end, not .TEXT -DELETE TEXT AND WRITE - LOG - !
IF new text document dosent have text at the end do this
This works great! I updated my OS recently and had to install Skyrim from steam and then replace files to downgrade back to 1.5.97. I noticed the new naming convention for the plugin loader and thought I could just ignore the new file. Renaming the new file did the trick!

I had the same problem the first TWO times around because I was guessing on what to do based on the wrong instructions.
