How to update from an older version of GoT Dragon Companions
Important: DO NOT directly update to the new GotDragonCompanions mod version! This will result in unpredictable issues with the mod. INSTEAD, please follow these steps for cleaning your savegame, before updating from an older version:
With the old version of GoTDragonCompanions active, load your savegame.
Go into MCM, and de-activate all dragons. Save the game ("Savegame 1").
Remove old version of GoTDragonCompanions from your load order.
Load "Savegame 1" into Skyrim (accept the warning on load). Save again ("Savegame 2").
Install new version of GoTDragonCompanions and add it to your load order.
Hello. In the old version of the mod, dragons could be placed in closed locations - for example, in cities. I liked to run around Whiterun in the evening, and see a dragon resting near the "house of warm winds", I did not care that it prevented NPCs from passing. In the new version, this is not the case. Is there any way to return this detail?
Not good. I thought I had cleanly fixed this issue with that version. Do you get a message saying that the dragons are too far away when you cast one of the shouts (eg Kisas)?
No everything works perfectly. But even if im in windhelm dragons goes to whiterun tower. I couldn't fix the problem. There is no mods that conflicts the files too. If i find something i'll let you now
I also have this issue. They even get inside Whiterun and rest on the tavern's roof. Also, they always follow me around where I go even if I choose the very low activity option.
Great mod! I love how different the interaction is with these vs other friendly dragons, somehow makes them feel more like pets which fits their GOT origin. I was wondering if there's a way to tell the dragons to stay around a certain area rather than following loosely? They're getting too much sometimes when they're all close but I'd rather have them fly around the mountains than disabling them.
You cannot control dragons while flying due to the Intuitive Dragon Ride Control mod i keep trying to make them turn around, go straight but nothing works and they just do whatever they want and keep on circling around, going up and down etc. if anyone got a fix please let me know
I had the same issue at first but it was a skill issue for me. Controlling the dragons wasn't as "intuitive" at first as you don't directly control the dragons movements with wasd, rather you tell the dragon where to go by looking that direction with the camera and then pressing w once. The dragon will then make a turn and end up in that direction (if you have enough patience not to press w again, which would make it turn again, hence circling around / going up and down.) Late answer but maybe this helps someone
First off, great mod! Next, is there a way to make them not appear until Alduin returns? I'm using ASLAL and the problem is that the dragons are there but everyone is talking as if there Dragons coming back is just a rumor (as one flies over the city).
Been trying to get this mod to work. To test, I place drogon near me via console commands, I go to a dead prey and use Kisas, I then get the "Dragon is too far away" bug. Ok. Not a big deal let me just advance the quest manually so I do not have to tame them. Now, I call Kisas so that Drogon lands near me, but again, I get the "Dragon is too far away" error again. For reference, I am using a slightly modified version of Biggie's modlist "LoreRim". Am not sure if it is a mod conflict that is causing this, but I have no other mods touching the functionality of dragons other than IDRC. This mod seems so cool and I would love for it to work, any help would be appreciated!!
Why are you moving Drogon via console? That might derail the mod's logic. The dragons can initially be found around the Whiterun Watchtower, so just (fast) travel there, or COC yourself to the dragons.
If you follow this (on a clean savegame, ie without the current state they're in), does it work?
It works! Thanks so much, don't know why I didn't think of using it on their original location. I am now able to tame, train and fly them without issue. Great mod!
