About this mod

An extremely streamlined version of maty743's Bosmer Armor Pack that just adds the plain old Bosmer Armor as a craftable armor set with the Elven Smithing perk while distributing incomplete sets in the world and rebalancing the armor itself.

Bosmer Armor Pack might be my favorite armor mod ever, but as I've grown older, I have tried to streamline and simplify my modlist a lot and prefer to have things a bit closer to vanilla as time goes on.

Building off of Kulharin's Bosmer Armor Pack - Fixed and Balanced, this is a complete replacer .esp for the original mod that does the following:

Only the following items remain (all pictured above):
  • Bosmer Armor
  • Bosmer Boots
  • Bosmer Gauntlets
  • Bosmer Hood
  • Bosmer Helm
  • Bosmer Hooded Helm
  • Bosmer Shoulder Cape (made into clothing with 0 AR)
  • Bosmer Full Cape (made into clothing with 0 AR)

The Bosmer pieces listed above are all craftable with the Elven Smithing perk.

The armor pieces have been rebalanced to be weaker than Elven but stronger than Leather. I use Armor Rating Adjustment for Adamant so this means they are literally 1 point higher AR than Leather and 1 point lower AR than Elven.

To not have the armor locked completely behind smithing, I kept the outfit changes the original mod makes to TreasCorpseHunterWoodElfM, a dead Wood Elf who can be found in 5 locations in Skyrim (have fun finding him yourself). This corpse will contain the Armor, Boots and Gauntlets only so that the full set is still locked behind smithing but you can have some of the drip early on if you know where to find one of these bodies.

Everything else from the original mod has been removed. I removed the Bosmer Mask as well as it had a pretty strong enchantment (I could have just removed the enchantment but oh well). All Reinforced, Elder and Wild Hunt Armors have been removed. All weapons have been removed. All NPC changes (outside of the above mentioned dead NPC's outfit) have been removed. All hand-placed items have been removed. This mod simply contains the Armor, crafting recipes, and the outfit change to the dead NPC.

This requires the original mod to work. Full credit to maty743 and Kulharin for their original work here and for granting me permission to work on this.

Originally, I wanted to add Thaumaturgy variants for all of them and place them in leveled lists, but that widens the scope of the mod a lot and starts to prompt more questions (i.e. if the Bosmer Armor is so available, why don't more Bosmer NPCs wear it, etc.). If you want a mod that puts this armor in more places, the Fixed and Balanced .esp does just that. My logic with this mod is that the armor is rare, a handful of adventurers from Valenwood who have met unfortunate ends wear it, and a craftsman who learns about Elven smithing will be able to make it as well. Seems like a good compromise to me.
