For any fellow linux bros out there, this (and dynamic cubemaps) gave me a good bit of trouble. 5mb error log full of compilation failures, 20 fps on a 4090 level trouble. I don't have a solution other than just disabling it entirely, yet.
Hello Linux fellow! I just tried this mod on Skyrim with no mods (only requirements) and I did not face problems. I only lost around 5 FPS because my gpu is crap. I am using Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon.
Dynamic Cubemaps is a basic feature of CS. I got multiple 3441 errors and failing to compile shaders with CS, but finally I got it to work on Linux Mint 22.1 (Cinnamon). Game version is 1.6.1170, Steam.
Install d3dcompiler_47.dll into your Wine or Protontricks prefix: WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/489830/pfx winetricks d3dcompiler_47
That's all. Additionally, if you have d3dcompiler_47.dll in your Skyrim root folder, remove it. The fix to move d3dcompiler_47.dll there might have worked with earlier versions of CS according to some, but with the latest version it's unnecessary (and didn't fix it for me).
After managing to fix the basic CS install and compiling shaders, all other CS effects I cared about (only left out a few) worked without issues or an unreasonable performance hit.
Now my issue is that the SSS effect is very weak, almost non-existent ("realistic", I guess(?)), and the sliders in the in-game menu don't do anything, I'm stuck with the default options, but others, presumably on Windows also seem to have this issue, and I remember I had it back on Windows as well.
Bit of a shame that this applies over all forms of makeup and or detail on skin from normalmaps etc. I feel like all characters look super flat and smooth, save for some desired sss effects.
Noticed this as well, but i'm still hopeful for an update in the future. I've seen a few pictures of CS forcing skin to render as PBR, which looks quite good considering how "weird' most PBR stuff looks.
Thanks a lot for Your work! I've noticed that SSS affects drastically on my CPU frame time (3 ms -> 15 ms) when i am looking down to my body (Skyrim VR, CBBE 3BA, BnP). When this shader is disabled - no CPU frametime drops appears. Anyone mitigated this?
Any idea what could be causing this? To test, I only have community shaders and all of its requirements loaded. I'm on the latest version of CS and its addons, and running the game through Steam Proton on Linux (GE Proton 9.11). Skyrim version 1.6.640.
The skin almost appears see-through, but really it seems to be showing a messed up version of the surrounding area, almost like it's maybe using dynamic cube maps or something?
If I run this Shader, and a weather mod - Azurite II, for example - there is an odd glow from the hairline in low-light conditions If I start the game fresh - just Shaders and Azurite II - Loki and Ulfric will have glowing hairlines Which clearly indicates they are witches, and as such - execution seems just and fair!
Nevertheless: Is anyone else seeing a glowing hairline with this Shader?
I mean, I don't think I could have messed up such a simple load order, but never let it be said I cant achieve the impossible!
I had a similar issue, but with 3D pubic hair. Under (mostly) ambient lighting conditions, it became almost glowing white at its fringes. For a quick fix, go into the Community Shaders menu and select the subsurface scattering plugin. Under Human Profile, turn the Blur Radius down to 0. The effects on the skin are fairly subtle, as far as I could see. Although this may effectively disable subsurface scattering for characters altogether, I'm not sure about it. At least the skin features are sharp again. Wish there could be a separate setting for the Hair shader.

this works in the past for me, idk what cause it to change.
