    Legacy of the Dragonborn V6 10th anniversary edition is live!

    V6 is now live and ready to go! This has been a massive undertaking for Kriana and myself and I'm glad to fi
    nally have it release. Please make sure to re-read the full guide linked above before downloading, review the change log and reference these quick updates:

    - V6 requires a NEW GAME (reality of large mod updates for Skyrim, not a choice made by us, or an option for you, your game will break otherwise)
    - V6 now has an extra dummy plugin (LegacyoftheDragonborn0.esp) which is required for loading one of the texture BSA's
    - You MUST re-download Legacy Patch Central's patches update
    - You MUST download the new Legacy Creation Club and Curator's Companion updates if you use them, they have been updated for V6
    - DO NOT use any 3rd party patches or mods for Legacy until they have been updated for Legacy V6
    - Several mods have been merged into V6 so refer to the compatibility and integrated mods article referenced in the full guide. DO NOT run these mods along with V6.

    - V6 requires _ResourcePack.ESL which was released with V1.6.1130+ of Skyrim. If you wish to continue using an older version, you must update then downgrade again so you have the resource pack and use the BEES (backported Extened ESL Support) mod in order to utilize expanded ESL support offered in Skyrim v1.6.1130+. No support on downgrading will be provided. You may have to choose between using Legacy and using something else in your load order that hasn't been updated in awhile, update the older mod to work on the new version of Skyrim, or figure out how to patch it so it does work. (See below for info on collections). Alternatively you can use Steam to download the _ResourcePack.esl on your older version of Skyrim without updating, but you still will need to install BEES referenced above. Steps are found here:

    On windows:
    -Open steam
    -Press (Windows key)+R and type "steam://open/console"
    -Once opened, type the following and press enter "download_depot 489830 489831 8442952117333549665"
    -Wait until steam console says: "Depot download complete"
    -Go to "steam/steamapps/content" and in the folder located there you'll find some content for Skyrim, plus the _resourcepack.esl and _resourcepack.bsa
    -Use winrar or 7zip to put both .bsa and .esl into a zip/rar file. Name that file _resourcepack
    -Use MO2 or whatever you use to install that rar/7zip file.
    -Make sure you name it "_resourcepack" and place it at the top of your Mod list. (This last step isn't necessary, it's just for the sake of knowing where and what it is later on.)
    -Activate it and there you have it. No piracy, no missing out on the mod, no updating anything. Simply using steam services.


    Also remember that when starting a new game you MUST wait for all mods to initialize to have the best performance and minimize any possible issues. Legacy had a message box that will pop up when it is finished building the new lists which will take about 5-10 minutes depending on load order when you start your new game. This list builder ensures a more complete radiant list for research and fetch quests, relic location abilities and tools, etc. And also vastly speeds up the processes during the game after.

    Paid Creations Support: The Legacy team WILL NOT be providing any support for the new paid modding program from Bethesda. We provided 3rd party support of Creation Club paid content because it was a work for hire program from bethesda who curated the content, making it effectively official DLC content. The "Creations" program is merely a pay gated modding program moving the line in the sand closer in the direction of the old steam paid modding fiasco and we will have nothing to do with it. Mod authors for this content are welcome to create conflict compatibility patches ONLY and NO display support will be authorized officially or unofficially.

    Daedric Gallery Display issues: If the displays in the Daedric gallery are not accepting items or are mismatching the items being pulled for the display then you have a conflict in another one of your mods. You are either not up to date with Hall of Wonders or The Curators Companion mods, or you are using unsupported mods or patches or just out dated ones. ANY plugin which edits the museum's formlists is breaking your game. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the displays.

    Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP): MO2 particularly seems to be moving USSEP AFTER Legacy which it should not be doing. USSEP should ALWAYS be loaded as early as possible in your load order and certainly before Legacy, otherwise it will block the museum entrance with a dirty edit to a vanilla asset. You can lock Legacy and USSEP in your load order to ensure it doesn't get moved.

    Collections: DO NOT update to Legacy V6 manually until it has been updated for your collection. The collection curator will have to address any required patch updates and compatibility issues before you can use V6. You cannot just slap in V6 into a standing collection and expect it to work, regardless of the Skyrim version issue. At very least the curator will have to review any custom patches to ensure they are working on the new version. And again, we DO NOT support any load orders using collections.

    Dev Aveza Mod: Until further notice, the original Dev Aveza live flight airship mod is NOT SUPPORTED. We are reworking the patch and it's more involved and requires an update to the original mod by its author before we can properly patch it. Once that happens, a patch will be included in the Legacy patcher but will require a new game to use.

    Xbox: The Xbox port will take a few months for Rhaela to update. All updates on this or questions should be handled on the Discord Xbox support channel. As a reminder we do not directly support the port here and any questions need to be taken to the channel on our discord.


    CURRENT COMPATIBILITY ISSUES

    Lux Patch for Legacy
    Lux's patches fort Legacy has been undergoing updates and is the cause of numerous problems legacy is experiencing right now including missing stairs on the museum, broken airship functions and misplaced meshes in the safehouse to name a few. If you use LUX or LUX Orbis or any other version of LUX, make sure you are absolutely up to the minute updated with whatever patch for V6 has been recently updated.

    Your Own Thoughts (YOT) Patch
    YOT needs to update its patch and is currently breaking the supply stash spell/crate access menu and the museum guide display planner for starters. Do not use the Legacy patch until it updates.

    Scribes of Skyrim
    Breaks the furniture options and household planner for the stuff merged in from safehouse plug. Their patch need to be updated.

    Improved Survival Mode
    If you are using this mod, you need to turn off the 'disable fast travel' option inside its INI file and use a separate fast travel disable mod. Without doing so, it will block the airship's ability to travel because it managed fast travel in a different way that interferes with the airship's temporary bypass of fast travel blocking.

    Various Dialogue Tags
    This mod's patch has not been updated for V6 and will revert any changes made for the new museum event delay presets, causing some lines to be available too early and only partially if you have increased the delay level you want events to occur in. You either should avoid using the patch or using xEdit, manually carry ALL conditions from Legacy and override their patch on any lines it has edited.


    Complete Replica Overhaul
    Not up to date for v6, will cause lists to fail building. Remove from your load order. Should not really be needed anyways.

    6.6.0 update
    This update will be marking the end of the major development cycle for the release of V6. Additional updates will be made in the future as needed along with a few model updates for some things being currently worked on, but most items have been addressed and any remaining issues have largely been caused by user error by using out of date translations, patches, or unsupported content, or collections which have not been updated for V6. The only remaining issues are related to NPC AI and can largely be fixed by using the NPC AI fix utility indicated in our recommended utilities article on the article tab. Additionally most systems have a reset function in the Legacy Debug MCM menu to cancel the gala, tours, etc. So if you have issues with Auryen or other NPC's just standing and not going anywhere else, try those fixes.

    Just a heads up regarding paintings in the museum and AI art; There's been a couple busy body people fussing about 20 or so AI art pieces being used in Legacy V6. firstly I really am not having this debate here. If you want to discuss the ethics and implications and fair use of AI content come to the Discord or DM me about it. This is not the platform to fuss about it. I also don't want to go into my stance on it too deeply or justify myself here. That said, I have had someone volunteer to help find additional art that has open, creative commons or granted permissions to use in order to replace the AI art and a couple of pieces that ended up being real art used from a pack that didn't have permission to be in said pack and hence aren't being used legitimately, so we're definitely taking care of those handful of pieces and will be updating the AI pieces as well come v6.7.0.     Hi,

    I am not sure if I should post this here. I encountered numerous problems in my playthrough, including some NPCs (so far Bujold and Jarl Skald) not interactable, cannot place control cubes on some control switches in Nchardak (can be fixed by quit and reenter the room), courier does not come...etc.

    I am thinking if it is because LotD overrides USSEP. But I cannot move USSEP to lower than LotD in MO2. Can anyone help?

      USSEP needs to load before Legacy; if it is then just leave it be.  Really the only error you mentioned that may be Legacy-related is the NPCs not being interact-able.  If you have the Gala event in your journal, use the option in Legacy's Debug MCM to clear it. 

      The other two errors can (and do) exist in non-Legacy games as well.  One control pedestal at the bottom of Nchardak is very well known for that issue, and the courier getting stuck is fairly common but can happen for a few different reasons.  The best solution for that is to hard save, console move to the courier to find them, and just take note of where they are.  If they were in Tamriel somewhere, reload the save and make your way normally to them.  If they are not in Tamriel, you have an issue with the story manager in the game engine that Ice discusses in the FAQ.

    Are there any prerequisite to have access to guild master's journal? I already unlocked the ring to recruit new members but the guild master's journal is missing. I'm using v5

    hello, I've installed the LotD mod and tried to play it, but I am encountering a lot of issues

    the race descriptions in the customization menu are all mostly gone except for orcs

    the text for many pop up text boxes, like the tutorial bits that explain low stamina, are missing, books and notes are missing the text, plus other random bugs just starting a new game

    I tried to read the guide and I thought I did everything correctly, getting all the patches, but im missing something

    my modlist is also already really big too so idk if thats got something to do with it but idk whats causing the issue

    Skyrim version: Anniversary downgrade to version 1.9.57.
    Legacy of the Dragonborn version: 6.6
    When I entered the door, I found that the faucet material was missing, and the same problem occurred when reinstalling the entire mod. Apart from this, no other material loss issues were found.

      Confused.  What faucet?  The one in the safehouse bathroom? And that stand with the logo on it, what mod is that from?  Just a guess but it sounds to me like you have one or more third-party mods loaded that may not be fully compatible with v6.  On a minimal test bed do you still get texture errors?

      Sorry, my English is not good. It's not the faucet's problem. As shown in the picture, the material of the dragon logo at the entrance of the museum is missing.

      Yes, the texture is missing, I forgot to pack it over from the menu logo replacer mod of mine into Legacy. It's already been fixed for V6.7.0

      always has been, but if you actually meant "Where is it now?" you must have the creation club version installed. With that you don't get it from the ritual master in wolf skull cave like normal.

    I absolutely love this mod, I cannot imagine a playthrough without it! (miss the rooftop hotsprings tho...)
    Buuuuuuut...... I have 1 issue: mod integration.
    I understand it makes thing simpler, less to install and troubleshoot (althought what are a few more mods when you already have all the supported ones installed....), doing so without keeping their ESP available for patching still bugs the hell out of me.....

    (famous) Exemple: Book Covers Skyrim. It's integration wihtin LotD is 100% understood, it's like it was made for it in the first place. Problem is now the "book covers skyrim.esp" has disappeared from the load order it has become impossible to apply patches for other mods (like Autographs, CACO, and others...)

    Also, I did like having the choice beween the original covers and the desaturated ones, choice that has been taken away from me...

    If anybody knows a solution I am all ears, I'm still (re)building a mod list for the new V6 playthrough.

    Again, great mod, essential even! Just that one little issue.....

      You would use xEdit (SSEEdit) to change the master on affected patches from BCS to Legacy.  A quick search on "changing masters with SSEEdit" came up with a bunch of articles and some videos, should you need more detail.  Happy hunting!

      Wait.... what?? So I would change the master "book covers skyrim.esp" to "Legacyofthedragonborn.esm (or would it be legacyofthedragonborn0.esp ?)

      The ESM; the ESP is predominantly for some extra stuff that was overflow from the ESM.

      can you change masters with xEdit? Thought that was Wyre Bash only... But yeah, all of the main BCS patches already have been converted for Legacy and are found in the Legacy patcher. Any ones we do not have versions for, you can just change the master to point at Legacy's ESM instead since the forms are all from the vanilla game.

      You can also install the BCS different texture versions that you want, just do the loose version (or unpack the BSA) and remove the plugin, just leaving the install folder active, it will override Legacy's textures.

    Vanilla visitor system!  Up to 4 visitors will arrive in the museum for 12 hours periodically, pulled from lists of over 60 vanilla NPCs. Also
    includes custom support for mod authors to add NPCs of their own and additional lists for future expansion mid game.


    Suggestion:

    Remove vanilla potential followers from the list of vanilla NPCs that can be chosen as museum visitors.  When a vanilla NPC is in rotation as a visitor, they cannot be activated for dialogue.  So if I've temporarily dismissed a follower, and they get chosen as a visitor, I can't recruit that follower back to my service until the vanilla NPC visitor selection cycles and refreshes.  This effectively locks up all the loot I may have given that follower before sending them home to meet up with later.

    I know the description of this new feature in v6 says the visitor system should release my follower after only 12 hours, but I've slept and waited several days without that follower being released.  I assume the system timing is managed by script, and that my own load order is likely causing a script bottleneck, but I thought I might throw the idea out there regardless.

    Another idea might be to add a "I think you've been at the museum long enough" type dialogue to any NPC being handled by dbm_vanillapatronhandler that dismisses them from the active visitation quest.

    Anyways, just a QoL feature that may or may not be useful to anybody other than myself I wanted to put out into the void to see if it gets picked up by somebody.

      It's not really possible to do that, though it's been discussed before.  From past discussion amongst the team, there appears to be some sort of vanilla issue about number of active NPCs that appears to cause this issue (can't talk to an NPC that you could ordinarily talk to and things appear to be stuck there).  Often, if you have the Gala event in your journal, using the MCM to clear it will restore the dialogue options.  However, it appears to be very hit-or-miss as to whether the issue happens for a player or not.  Many people have had that happen, and many people have the Gala proceed just fine.  Thus the comment about it likely being an underlying vanilla limitation of some sort.  You might check and see if the Gala issue is what is affecting you.

      It happens well before the Gala.  I get the issue from the first moment any vanilla NPC becomes a museum visitor, and it's only vanilla NPCs as museum visitors that can't be activated.  The visitors added by LotD itself can be activated for dialogue just fine.  I assumed that was intended functionality with vanilla NPC visitors for some reason I didn't understand. It's definitely related to the dbm_vanillapatronhandler quest (in some way on my particular load order), as console completing that quest fixes it right away.

      But I appreciate and understand that it's a more complex and nebulous situation than my simple suggested fix.  Thanks for the response.

      the AI issue stone relays only affects the Gala. The vanilla visitors are blocked so you can't break quests they are connected to. As soon as you leave the museum gate, they go right back to where they were previously. The 12 hour timer is just for when you are IN the museum/safehouse/guild areas. When you leave them, they immediately reset. They do need to get an additional condition added to prevent any ACTIVE followers from being chosen, because it does look like it can still pull them when they are actively being a follower, which IS an issue. Your purported problem isn't really an issue as they will immediately be where they should be if you want to add them again.

      I have found the issue. The legacy of the dragonborn museum exterior fix needs to be update. I have disabled it and now the blockage has been removed. Thank you for the help.

      it doesn't NEED an update, it's for V5. It should not be used for V6 and says so on the page.

    Hello everyone

    I am getting a 100% replicable ctd inside DBMDGHallofHeroes whilst moving around inside the office area(Where the prep station is), I've tried my best to narrow down this problem myself but to no avail, not sure where to go from here

    Crash Logger SE: 1.15.0

    No ENB
    LOOT: 0 Warnings, 0 Errors, 0 Dirty plugins
    MO2 Overwrite folder is empty

    I am launching the game with skse64_loader through MO2

    The result is the same whether I use Engine Fixes or not, any help would be much appreciated!

      - that is not a crash log, and those analyzers often point to the wrong thing - it literally says in the first line if you're asking for help to provide the actual log as well - that would be more helpful
      - can't replicate this crash
      - Discord would be a better place to actually get some help

      thing I see off hand is a reference to the player camera. Do you have an alternate camera mod? They are highly problematic. My guess is you are getting the camera near one of the museum interior windows which are known to cause crashes in 3rd person. This has been fixed for 6.7.0 already

      Ahh, I did use Smoothcam before, I reinstalled Skyrim & removed every single mod other than LotD for the crash log I posted though

      And yes you're right it does happen when the camera passes near the window by the prep station, would also explain why it never happens in first person, only third

      Is it possible there's some lingering Smoothcam files somewhere?

      no, it's a separate thing. Camera mods are problematic in general, but the window is just a legacy issue that's been fixed for the next update. Basically just don't do what you are doing lol, switch to first person or keep the camera away from the windows until the next update.
