A gamechanger, I can't do without this mod. Bethesda made such an unnecessary change, making sprint a toggle? Moving from the LE to SE was a headache, the sprinting most of all. Now it's a more fluid experience with this mod installed, thanks!
Thank you for keeping this up. The other one doesn't work on my heavy modlist and this one doesn't crash for me even when I spam it for a whole minute.
Well, sadly, with both 1.5 and 1.4 - with and without the suggested ini tweak - all it takes on my machine to get this to CTD is to tap the sprint key a few times quickly. Fortunately, I don't normally do that during gameplay, so while the fact that that will crash it certainly isn't good, it's not fatal. The bigger problem is how it will randomly crash just running around, but at least a crash like this is likely to be pretty easy to work around - annoying, but not fatal.
I can get this to crash on my system with a fresh game with the only mods installed being SKSE and this. So, at least for me, it does not require a script-heavy game to get it to CTD. All it took was tapping the sprint key a few times as soon as I could first control my character, and it crashed. Given that, it seems a bit weird that it's not happening to everyone, but bugs can be weird sometimes - especially if they're related to timing at all. Unfortunately, if the mod author can't reproduce it, it's going to be pretty hard for them to fix it... :(
If it matters, I'm running an i7-3930K @ 3.20 GHz (it's a 6-core Sandy Bridge) with an Nvidia GTX 1070, and I'm on Windows 7.
It's too bad that Bathesda didn't just leave the controls alone - or at least make the old behavior a configuration option. I fail to see why the new controls would be at all desirable, and without this mod, I constantly screw up sprinting. It was _really_ confusing too when I first started playing SE. It took me quite a while to figure out what was going wrong with sprinting. So, much as the crashing is annoying, I'm very grateful that this mod exists. And hopefully, _something_ will come to light which makes it clearer what's going wrong so that it can be fixed.
Bump in to this problem instantly, start spaming sprint key and almost insta CDT. with iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=153600 i guess it half seconds +, before CDT, or it just random amount of time between 0-1 sec.
I even don't know why i start spam) Because now i can, because i did that in Legacyrim.
Sad. When i start noticed that toggle mode is annoying, and only plugin is cause cdt's...
ps i have ryzen 2700x and 1070, win10 yea, skyrim become pretty moded, ~118 plugins but i'm usually don't bump in to CDT, they happens, but rarely.
If this mod doesn't work for you, I'd suggest trying out this mod to see if it works better for you: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/20166
Well, it doesn't work for some folks (e.g. it doesn't work for me for some reason), but it does work for most people, and AFAIK, no one has been reporting CTDs for it. I don't know if there's any reason for someone to switch from this mod to that one if this one is working for them, but those folks getting CTDs with this mod should definitely check that one out.
xxt65xx, Thank you for working on this. I am still stunned that it is even a necessity. How difficult is the engine fix? I ask because, as I'm sure you know, with the papyrus script the hold-to sprint often fails just when you need it most: at the beginning of combat.
Yeah, I´m also reporting this mod randomly crushing the game. AMD Athlon x4 860 Quad Core 4000 Mhz. AMD Radeon 7700 HD series, 8GB RAM. When I dissable the mod, game runs without crashing.
I reverted to 1.4 version on new save like you said, so far two hours play session, no crashes. If it changes I will inform you. Thanks for the mod and support!
When using Sprint Jump (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/15066) if the player begins sprinting, jumps and then lands they are placed into a sprint toggle on, regardless of the key down or key up position of the sprint key. If a simple key check could be made after landing from a jump that would be awesome! (or a compatibility patch)

Will test it later, an SKSE plugin would be much more efficient if well implemented.
Btw this mod was much needed thx.

This mod uses the game's scripting system and is unreliable. The other mod alters game input code at run time.

On my 6600k @ 4.5 GHz it works flawlessly, no crashing no bugs.
There's more discussion on the topic in this thread, and I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'fails'. (CTD or fail to stop sprinting?)

If you don't mind trying the previous version on a new save that would be useful.
Trying to narrow down if this an edge -case issue with SKSE or just papyrus in general.
Maybe possible, but difficult and time consuming.
If the person who made that mod wants to remake this one through .dll injection, that'd be great.
