I struggled in the dark for days to solve a simple yet so annoying and truly immersion breaking bug that was afflicting my game. Every humanoid NPC in my game had to wear a pair of fresh farmer-type boots. Everyone!! Sometimes they'd wear two pairs of boots at the same time!
Dremora Lords have to have one equipped, guards, imperial soldiers, heck even the goddess Meridia herself appeared to me as an Altmer NPC, naked except her wonderful pair of farmer boots! If I dismiss a follower, I'll find them later with a new pair of farmer boots. I disabled SPID and related, armor replacer, OCF and related mods, then I remembered... I had this installed a while ago. Well, guess the sailors are back to suffer a bit of cold.
Anyway, just a warning for those who use the SkyPatcher version since it is not easy to identify the cause of this issue. It could even be an incompatibility with something else, but my modlist was pretty thin after unchecking stuff diagnosing the problem.
Yeah again, I cannot be sure that this mod alone is the cause or some incompatibility, which is hard to check with SkyPatcher I suppose. But something triggered and it went haywire! There was not a single humanoid NPC that didn't have a pair of farmer boots.
I did a quick test and I found the same problem. I never noticed it before because of the variety in farm boots and because many of the NPCs are wearing shoes, but my hunch is if I reset their inventory they'd end up wearing boots. In any case, More Informative Console said they all had farm boots in their inventory, and without the skypatcher file that didn't happen.
I'll create a bug report out of this and figure out what's going on. Fortunately it's just a simple text file that can be added/removed at any time.
So that's what was doing it! Thanks for the fix. I can now confess that it was making the feet-and-boots of the Gilded (from Clockwork) invisible. They look much better with feet.
Thanks again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Player: So, how do you go out in public? Lahar: I wear robes. Player: You... wear robes. Lahar: Yes. And underneath, people assume I am wearing a suit of Dwemer armor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Those who use the mod know that, technically, the Gilded do... as carapaces for their bones and inner workings.)
I need to look down at the ground more; I never realized. Good grief, they aren't all Nords! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nords have no way to determine temperature. They don't know, and they don't care. There are a lot of burned fingers by the cookfires in inns. They go GREAT with mead. - Uncle Sheo.
