My graphics card died and I'm getting very poor performance in-game with Intel graphics. I managed to fix the invisible hands bug for now, not sure if/when I can look into the invisible gauntlets issue. I'll keep you all updated.
Is there a less outdated version of this mod? I used to consider it a hard requirement, but it tends to override any armor retextures for gloves that have open fingers.
going to preface this with the fact i have no knowledge of mod-making, nifskope or 3d modelling overall.
it's easily one of the best beast race mods out there, works out of the box with all VANILLA AND SE DLC Armors even to this day! keep in mind that i mentioned vanilla and SE DLC armors, there's no support for CC armors or any mods out there except for an older version of immersive armors.
in good conscience, i couldn't recommend at all, unless you are strictly using no armor/clothing mods or if you know quite a bit about nifskope to do the patching. I'd wager those who know a lot about nifskope can easily patch armors in less than an hour, hell i bet experienced mod-creators can do this even faster. I seriously do not want to break anything or break my game files and ruin Skyrim as a whole for myself.
In short, if a modded/CC armor has fingerless gloves/gauntlets it needs a patch. for AE users? that's a lot of gauntlets/gloves to patch. now of course, i doubt that the author could ever predict the plethora of armors that came with AE (or AE itself).
but the fact is that, according to the process posted by the Author, you need to use the Beast meshes of each gauntlet for female and male and the two weight sizes and the first person meshes
that's 6 different meshes when you aren't counting the first person meshes that's 6+ times that you must do this for just one piece of armor if you are doing it just for argonians. for both khajiit and argonians? that's 12 meshes you have to deal with. this does highlight the gargantuan effort the Author has done, and kudos to them for that.
according to the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages, Skyrim AE comes with 23 apparel mods (unless there are ones included with the other bundles) that means an additional 276 meshes (not including first person ones) that you have to manually patch.
I doubt that not even the author has the time nor the effort to do it for AE, let alone all the other mods out there. i mean the ancient nord armoury mod i use (and love) adds 6 new armor sets and remeshes *all* the ancient nord armors. so that there in itself is a field day.
This mod, with its current patch method, cannot be recommended to even AE users because of this. unless someone by some miracle makes a patching method that actually works in a much more user-friendly matter.
Time curbstomped this mod into oblivion, there's no beating around the bush. it's a great mod for its time, but that's the thing...for its time.
if you desperately want something to add claws to your beast races, i'd recommend this mod:
this mod generally works for all races, though it doesn't replace the claw meshes on the beast hands so there is some clipping but frankly i'd rather use this then possibly destroying my game.
in summary: unless you have the time and the knowledge to patch all the armors you have in your modlist and your CC mods, do not use this
This mod conflicts with Requiem making some gauntlets invisible. To fix it run reqtificator (better claws and gauntlets might need to be disabled first, then re-enable after reqtificator is done). Open SSEEdit, right click on the list on the left and filter for conflicts. Then click the [+] next to better claws and gauntlets, then armors, then select an armor piece. In the right section scroll down until you see the Armature subsection. There will be 2 (or 3) elements in red below in the better claws and gauntlets.esp list. Drag each red piece from the armature subsection into the corresponding slot in the requiem.esp list and the requiem for the indifferent.esp list, as well as any other requiem patches that it conflicts with such as the dragonborn patch. Say yes when it asks if you're ok with making better claws and gauntlets a master file for each (lol). Go through each armor piece in the list on the left until you're done, then save and exit.
This is probably scuffed and bad practice in many ways I don't understand, but it's working fine for me. It's possible you might need to repeat this process if you run reqtificator again. If done correctly you will get requiem functionality and better claws and gauntlets visuals :)
Would love to use these models but without a viable refit for BHUNP with bodyslides, it's a no go - unless someone knows how to fix the Racemenu bug where weight sliders don't work, will have seams forever
I did find the HIMBO refit and it works perfectly - but then again the weight slider bug in Racemenu does not affect males
This mod still works for me, but it would be cool if someone made a new patch to make it compatible with the updated version of immersive armors: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/75891?tab=posts&BH=0

I use SE edition with a few armor mods, though for the sake of examples the ones that would need patching are:

I kind of miss my beautiful claws.
