I probably have another mod affecting this, but just to be sure - Are you supposed to hear only one NPC at a time? I have to go real close to the others to listen to them otherwise they are muffled (like really really quite) then as soon as I take a step closer to another they become the loud singer and the others become muffled is weird.
Obviously if you go nearer they will be louder, that's the game engine, but you should be able to hear them all singing at once, up to 4 spectators and the bard. Maybe you just have too many NPCs in the cell if you have mods that add more to inns.
But I have to admit that it seems not to work properly for me and I have no idea why not.
When I first visited Whiterun Mikael offered a new song to which I enjoyed listening. But that was it. Mikael ever since never offered the singalong song again and whenever he sings "Ragnar the Red" nobody sings along. Nor do I have a dialogue line to ask him for a popular song. Same for Sven. I also do not have the line for the background music as dialogue option. I am level 86 by now - and still I am waiting for my first successful singalong evening in a tavern.
Edit: I deinstalled and reinstalled and this seems to have fixed the problem. The dialogue options are available again and for the first time I heard the NPCs sing along. Hope it stays that way now. Wanted to mention this, just in case anybody has the same problem.
Right. So FAQ says 'most songs don't have subtitles'. This a game engine limitation. You can either have songs with subtitles that have breaks of silence between lines, or one long song without subtitles. I went with the latter because it's just better IMO.
I like everything. I just started playing with the mod after I compressed it into .bsa, noticed that there were no subtitles and wondered if I had spoiled something) It works. Thank you!
Oh gosh, you expanded the vanilla songs? I grabbed this mod ages ago without even reading the description XD Last year I had delusions of grandeur (Somebody said if I wrote the lyrics they'd get it into the game) and we were going to do this whole singing overhaul of Skyrim, where laborers sing working songs and bandits sing fighting or drinking songs, maybe even have a quest through the bard college where you have to go to different masters of the instruments and learn songs from them, and then the music you learn is performed popularly around Skyrim, like for drum you'd have to learn traditional music from a Forsworn Briarheart...So I wrote more vanilla lyrics just so the songs wouldn't all feel so dang short!
Anyway, it didn't work out but I'm really glad somebody else had the same idea, and I'm excited to hear how it turned out! Finally starting a playthrough soon and nearly all your wonderful immersion mods are in it! (I'm stuffing mods in Skyrim like drug money in a mattress and my game's about to explode ahahahahaha)
- When asking Luaffyn in Windhelm's Candlehearth Hall "Can I make a request", I get these three choices: - Do you know "The Age of Oppression"? - Would you play "Tale of the Tongues?" - Can you play "The Dragonborn comes?"
-> Is this expected behaviour? Shouldn't there be more songs?
(I can see other dialogue choices like "Can you take a break", "Can you perform a song people can sing along to", "Can you play some background music", so I guess the mod seems to basically perform well in my game).
Both questions are pretty much already covered in the description.
This mod only adds two lines to bard dialogue, namely "Can you perform a song people can sing along to?" and "Can you play some background music?" I'm not sure what else you're expecting from Luaffyn to be honest.
As per the section on compatibility, yes it should be compatible with any mod that adds songs to bards as this mod only has them play by request.
Regarding the various songs which are included in the mod: is it safe to assume that not every bard plays all of the songs? I asked one in Riften for a singalong song. She did not offer all of the songs which I found in the dialogue topics to be theoretically available (I had a look at them with SSEEdit).
I then asked her to sing "The Betrayed" on which she replied that maybe not everyone would sing along with that song. And then she sang "The Dragonborn comes". Is this expected behaviour?
I then left the Riften inn while the bard continued to sing in the the background and went to the player home Honeyside. In there, the housecarl Iona and another NPC (whom I had placed there with "My Home Is Your Home") were happily clapping and cheering... Console command "sv" showed for them:
Papyrus - Alias Clap1 on Quest JB1Applause Papyrus - Alias Clap5 on Quest JB1Applause That can't be expected behaviour, can it?
There's an article that covers which bards sing which songs, I suggest you read that, then you don't need to assume anything.
Sometimes if the game (or another mod) has already decided the bard will do a vanilla song, this will take precedence over this mod, there's not much I can do about that unfortunately.
Not sure why they're filling aliases for clapping if they're not in the inn, I will have to look at that when I get time. Edit: fixed.
Just stumbled on your comment: Not sure why they're filling aliases for clapping if they're not in the inn, I will have to look at that when I get time. Edit: fixed.
So this issue is indeed fixed in version 1.01? There was no new file version for it?
Just downloaded this mod yesterday and I'm already in love with it. The only problem I've had was when I asked Sven to play Jornibret's Last Dance he just played some lute music and didn't sing. All of the other songs have worked great so far. I don't have any other music mods or mods that edit Sven so I'm not sure what it could have been. Not a huge deal since all the other songs are working, but if anyone knows how to fix it I'd be grateful.
Sometimes the game has already decided the bard is going to play a vanilla tune or song before you ask them, so it's just coincidence. This is why I recommend Relaxed Bards so the bards won't automatically play tunes all the time.

New songs like the lustful Argonian maiden don't have subtitles?

THANKS AGAIN, love the stuff you do

Looks like..um....someone might have forgotten to upload it......
Edit: updated.
May I ask a favor? Can you tell me about the licensing for the music because I would love to add it to our media collection if legal.
