About this mod

An unofficial update, re-implementation, re-balance, ESL-ification, and optional VR-ification of Skyrim's premier grappling hook mod.

Requirements
Permissions and credits

Grapple is an unofficial update to the wonderful Pull Mastery mod that aims to implement its features in a more immersive manner. The original mod is a whole lotta fun (especially in VR!) but had somewhat shoddy implementation, leading to compatibility and balance issues. This mod aims to fix those issues and then some.

LIST OF CHANGES
  • Plugin is now ESL-flagged
  • All worldspace edits have been removed, making it compatible with just about everything
  • Reworded and renamed all items, spells, and effects to fit in more seamlessly
  • Dwarven Grappling Hooks and Dwarven Chain Cannons (formerly Dwarven Hookshot and Dwarven Pull Device) are now craftable with the Dwarven Smithing perk
  • Chain and Rope spells are now sold at appropriate vendors (currently Lucan Valerius, Belethor, and Farengar) (requires CID or SkyPatcher)
  • Chain and Rope spells have been rebalanced (the rope grappling hook costs no magicka but has relatively short range, the chain grappling hook costs magicka but has over triple the range)
  • (Optional) VR positioning patch to make the grappling hook and chain cannons fit in your character's hands

INSTALLATION
  • Install the original mod
  • Install Container Item Distributor or SkyPatcher (soft requirement, for spell tome vendor distribution)
  • Install Grapple for whichever version you use (most users should probably use SkyPatcher), letting it overwrite Pull Mastery
  • If playing Skyrim VR, download the patch in optional files
Known Issues
  • Not every spell is presently covered. Currently both the chain and the rope spells have been implemented, but some others are not. I will be looking into adding these going forward. The spells and tomes are still in the plugin, unedited, if you want to use commands or AddItemMenu to use them.
  • If installing on an existing save, existing spells and gear will be removed. This is due to the ESL-ification of the mod. Use the console or AddItemMenu to get them back if you are affected by this.
  • Not every bug from Pull Mastery has been fixed. Skyrim is still Skyrim and this mod can be a little superficially janky. Consider it part of the charm.
