- This mod includes my Talkative Wispmothers mod (LE/SE-AE), you do not need to install said mod if you use my new Wispmother Overhaul. If you have it installed, you can delete it, as this new mod already includes the dialogue lines. However, keeping both installed will not cause any problems in the intended operation;

Complete and immersive overhaul of the Wispmothers and their Wisps.
These creatures will have an extra touch of terrifying and symbolic
beauty, personified in even more striking and chilling encounters.
A "small" consideration: I must begin this exposition by addressing the complex and mysterious nature of the Wispmothers. After all, what are they? And the answer is: no one knows. Within the game, several writings are presented as hypotheses raised by scholars of this universe, from nature spirits linked to the ice and cold, to lost souls or even lich forms of female Snow Elves. Everything is a mystery, much is lost in legends and word of mouth, and I am particularly inclined to the ice spirit theory, just as Spriggans are corporeal spirits of nature linked to forests. There is no real evidence that they are a form of Snow Elf lichdom, as they appear throughout Tamriel in ESO, far beyond the reach of the lost Snow Elf civilization, with the only remote evidence being that of the Pale Lady, who was supposedly a snow elf named Aumriel, and who was an enemy of Ysgramor, but even this story, written in the book "Lost Legends", when read in an unbiased way presents nothing more than assumptions and legends. However, if on the one hand the Wispmothers in ESO rule out the possibility of the Wispmothers being liches or spirits of Snow Elves, on the other hand in many instances it is possible to find spirits of disembodied women who became Wispmothers in this same game. However the Wispmothers in ESO do not even use ice magic, or appear exclusively in icy areas, being a figure much more similar to a vengeful Banshee (also mentioned in said game). Nonetheless, I also don't think the theory that all Wispmothers are female wraiths is convincing, so I make a proposal below, for a reasonable headcanon, on which this mod is based, and which can be practical for its users, and which should be seen as a theoretical version about the origin and nature of these creatures, written by my ingame persona, Beastmaster Mihail, who writes the lore of all my creatures:
"Wispmothers as we see them in Skyrim, are spirits linked to the snow and the icy winds, and the remote areas of the inhospitable frozen mountains. The Wisps are possibly souls captured by them, and used as lure to attract new victims. It is not known if all of them are exactly lesser aedric spirits, as legends claim that some are ancient ghosts of powerful Snow Elf sorceresses of old, filled with deep hatred for the races of men, for having caused the end of their civilization, and that over time they became part of the frozen essence of the wildlands of the north. The term Wispmother is also used to refer to another type of spectral apparition, also deeply angry, vengeful and feminine in appearance, but with more grotesque and wraith-like traits. These also use Wisps as their servants in combat, but they appear in many regions, and do not have a special affinity with the frost and the icy winds, so they are usually classified as a type of Banshee, usually as Banshee Wispmother."

- The vanilla model received some adjustments, and the textures originally in 512x1024 were re-textured in 2048x4096 resolution, with a more mystical and unique theme, resulting in a new appearance appropriate to the concept of this overhaul. Their clothes in 128x4096 resolution maintained the size, but also with improvements;
- Wispmothers received 12 new immersive lines of custom dialogue: 11 of the 12 lines are spoken during combat, as a form of taunt, and the remaining line spoken right after the Wispmother rises from the ground, as a kind of magical incantation cast on herself. The Pale Lady, the unique Wispmother from the quest "The Pale Lady", does not use the new lines, because I have other plans for her, to be released as a separated mod, nonetheless she is affected by all the other content of the overhaul; (check out the video above to hear the lines, although the other overhaul changes had not yet been applied when the video was recorded, so she has a vanilla appearance on it.)
- The combat mechanics remain the same, both for the Wispmother and her Shades, and they
continue to be creatures that do not respawn, but some details have been changed:
- claw attacks now cause 25 points of damage and frost damage, and the Shades cause 20, also
alongside frost damage, while in vanilla the damage was practically non-existent in both; - while Wispmothers could not be paralyzed, the Shades could, which makes no sense, so they now cannot either;
- Shades can no longer be soul trapped, as they are just projections of the Wispmother;
- the Wispmother now regenerates mana and stamina at the same speed as her Shades, while before she regenerated
at half the speed, and the Wispmother now also has a modest health regeneration, previously non-existent; - the Undead keyword has been removed from their Actor entrances (they were not present in the Race entrance),
and they can now also be detected with Detect Life spells. For lore reasons explained in the "Description",
a few may in fact be spirits of the dead, but they have already converted their nature to another type of entity; - Wispmothers had a fixed level of 28, now it scales from 28 to 55. Shades had level 5,
now it goes from 5 to 10, and with more HP, as it was very low; - they had no elemental resistances or weaknesses, so now they have 100% resistance
to ice, 30% weakness to fire, and complete immunity to diseases and poisons; - they cause an invisible Frost Cloak effect around them, which causes damage to opponents who get too close;
- they are now also in the Ice Wraiths faction, so they will fight together if they eventually meet;

- Wispmothers now turn into a magical ice goo when they die, instead of piles of ash. Their loot continues to be Wisp Wrappings, with improved textures and a value of 10, instead of 2, and Glow Dust, which has received a new model (as seen above) and has now a value of 40, instead of 20. Additionally, they now also drop full soul gems, excluding Black ones;

- Part of the Wisp's structure, an ugly, elongated, tube-shaped central body with defective transparency, has
been removed, now giving the Wisp a more delicate and sublime appearance (see image above);
- Wisps have received the same abilities as Wispmothers, therefore: 100% resistance to ice,
30% weakness to fire, and complete immunity to diseases and poisons;
- Although they are possibly souls of disembodied beings, they are now in another state of their nature, being much more than
ghosts, so they can also now be detected with Detect Life spells, since their nature transcends that of a simple disembodied soul;
- All Wisp mechanics have been maintained, but their level, previously 1, now scales from 5 to 15, and their damage has increased from 10 to 20. The other characteristics of the vanilla Wisp's Kiss have been maintained, such as the effects on magic and stamina, in their original magnitudes;
- The Wisp Crystal, originally in 1024x1024, has received a 2k re-texture;


The Mihail Monsters and Animals series aims to create and make available to the community the most complete set of creatures for TES 5: Skyrim, implemented in an immersive and unique way, with respect to the pillars of lore. Instead of pathetically just throwing models and textures in the game reusing 100% vanilla mechanics, the creatures made by Mihail have uniqueness and extreme zeal in their idealization and implementation, which will provide you with an experience that you have never had before in this area.
