About this mod
Miraak's influence only starts affecting Solstheim after the Main Quest "Dragon Rising", and intensifies in stages as you progress the Main Quest.
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
At least until Dragon Rising.
Can be installed any time, but only if you have not started Dragonborn and (ideally) never visited Solstheim.
Progression of Miraak's Corruption
- After Dragon Rising: The base of the Temple at the Tree Stone is excavated.
- After The Way of the Voice: The Wind Stone near Skaal Village is corrupted.
- After The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller: The Earth Stone near Raven Rock is corrupted.
- After Alduin's Wall: The Beast Stone near Thirsk Mead Hall is corrupted.
- After The Throat of the World: The outer wall of the Temple of Miraak is constructed.
- After Elder Knowledge: The Sun Stone near Tel Mithryn is corrupted.
- After Alduin's Bane: The Water Stone on the western coast is corrupted.
- After Dragonslayer: The Tree Stone is corrupted, and the dais at the Temple of Miraak is complete. (Vanilla state)
Starting the Dragonborn Questline
The Cultist attack which starts the Dragonborn questline will always occur after completing Dragonslayer, or has 5% chance of occurring after The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller if you are Level 25+. See below for additional options to configure yourself (using Timing is Everything).
You can also start the Dragonborn quest on your own terms at any time after completing The Way of the Voice by heading to Solstheim, learning Bend Will at Saering's Watch, and using that shout on the Wind Stone. (Before The Way of the Voice, you can still learn the shout, but the Wind Stone is not corrupted, and therefore can't be cleansed.) If you start the quest this way, any leftover progression stages above will be skipped, all remaining Standing Stones will become corrupted, and the outstanding construction at the Temple of Miraak will be completed immediately.
Cultist Attack Trigger Options
- Vanilla - Cultists will no longer attack at any time after completing The Way of the Voice (as they do in vanilla), but you can still use the vanilla alternate start by learning Bend Will and cleansing the Wind Stone (as outlined above), thereby short-circuiting this mod.
- This mod's default - Cultists have a 5% chance of attacking if you have reached Level 25 and completed The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, and will otherwise attack at any time after completing Dragonslayer (regardless of level).
- Timing is Everything - Cultists have a percentage chance of attacking once a minimum level is reached and a prerequisite quest is completed, as defined in that mod's MCM. You can use these settings without this mod's Timing is Everything patch if TIE is loaded after this mod.
- With this mod's TIE patch - Cultists have a percentage chance of attacking once a minimum level is reached and a prerequisite quest is completed, as defined in the TIE MCM, but will otherwise attack at any time after completing Dragonslayer if the TIE minumum level has been reached (regardless of the percentage chance).
Other Features
- Start Skaal Village quests (and other DLC quests) at any time.
- NPCs live their normal schedules before the corruption starts.
- Access five of the Black Books which have no connection to Dragonborn.
- Restored an unused water texture specific to the "Corrupted" Standing Stones.
Compatibility
- Compatible with most Raven Rock, Tel Mithryn and Skaal Village overhauls without a patch (as long as they don't edit the Standing Stones or quests).
- Patch Included for Timing is Everything (see above).
- Patch Included for Skyrim Landscape and Water Fixes.
- Patch Included for Sensible Sleepwalking.
- Patch Included for DLC2PillarBuilderActorScript Tweak or SCROTE - Simply Optimized Scripts AIO or Unofficial Skyrim Modder's Patch - USMP.
- Load After the script files from Go to Bed.
- Not Compatible with the Dragonborn module of At Your Own Pace. This mod includes similar functionality (except for not being affected by the sleepwalking).
This mod edits numerous scripts, including the Quest Fragments of DLC2MQ02 The Temple of Miraak and DLC2MQ07, as well as most scripts associated with the Standing Stones and NPC sleepwalking packages, and some dialogue Topic Fragments. Compatibility is therefore not guaranteed with anything else that edits these scripts, except those listed above.
Notes
- The All-Maker Stones are inert if you try to use them without completing Cleansing the Stones. I'm open to suggestions as to whether these should just be permanently available from the start of the game, unlocked by some other activity as they were in Bloodmoon, or stay inert.
