New version uploaded, rebalanced around a popular Skyrim.ini tweak that drastically reduces the vanilla game's black crush. If you want to benefit from that, then replace the Radiance.ini file with the 1.1 version (if you're upgrading) and simply add this line to your Skyrim.ini file under [Display]
fGlobalContrastBoost=-0.2
Another ini tweak I highly recommend is to drastically improve your LOD quality for little to no FPS loss. In SkyrimPrefs.ini change the value of "uLargeRefLODGridSize" from 11 to 21. Here's an animated image comparison with more detailed descriptions of the change:
Hey ! I'm here cause I seen your screenshots, they're really nice ! So I wondered If you still use this to take them or if you have some advises to approach the visual quality you show on your latest shots ? ^^
Rarely I see reshades that improve visuals not much, yet it's make a big impact to game sense, no vivid s#*!, no ton of hdr, no oversharpened shit. Bravo
Hello, It doesn't work for me: I've got the Reshade menu working fine but when I load your radiance ini, only a red blank page is filling the descritpion box in the menu, meaning ther is nothing to select here.
That's weird. I just uninstalled ReShade, then reinstalled from scratch including using the file I uploaded here in case it got corrupted somehow. Still worked fine for me...
You can get rid of the red page by pressing the "continue" and then "finish" buttons if you scroll down the page. If you installed ReShade 3 to SkyrimSE.exe correctly, using the Direct3D 10+ option (the middle one, which should auto select) and allowed all the shaders to be selected (which should be the default setting) then you should see a long list of effects in the description box from the Shift+F2 menu. If you don't see anything to select, it sounds like you might have made an error with the ReShade installation?
It should look like this once the red box is gone: https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5597/30594268051_cc3a2da2c2_o.png
Another method you can try is removing Radiance.ini, starting up the in-game menu (at the main menu is fine), and skipping through the short tutorial to get rid of the red boxes. That means pressing "continue", then "finish", then instead of using the red drop down box press the "+" button next to it and create a new ReShade called Radiance. Select anything to add to this preshade from the shader list (and if there's still no shaders listed, then there's definitely been a ReShade installation error) then exit the game. Now simply replace the Radiance.ini file you've created in the SkyrimSE folder (not the data folder, the one before it) with the Radiance.ini file you can download from this page.
If you're getting this issue, double check you've installed ReShade properly, because it sounds like you're either selecting the wrong location or not selecting the Direct3D 10+ version. In your Skyrim Special Edition folder (the location of SkyrimSE.exe and Radiance.ini, not the data folder) you should also see:
A folder called "reshade-shaders" Three dxgi files - dxgi.ini, dxgi.dll, and dxgi.log
Without those you'll just get an empty shader window. I wish I could just bundle everything for a simple drag/drop download for you guys but it's against the ReShade terms and conditions I'm afraid
Glad to see it definitely does work! I was getting worried for a while
Yep, it's more FPS intensive than most ReShades. Pretty visuals, but at a price. For anyone curious: you can disable Ambient Lighting and/or Clarity in game from the Shift+F2 menu - just click the box next to the shader name to toggle it off. I'd suggest disabling Clarity before Ambient Lighting though if you're looking to gain some frames, since that will only affect texture sharpness instead of the colour balance and vibrancy.
Yep, it's more like richer shadows to be honest. I completely agree with you, which is why I didn't just crank the contrast and saturation like most ReShade uploads here do. If anything this lessens the black crush thanks to the extra ambient lighting
Example: The images titled 2Before and 2After. Open them in new tabs and switch back and forth between them, keeping an eye on the tree on the right. Blacks are crushed in vanilla, more light variance with this preset. The image titled ReshadeGIF1 should be a good example too - much more definition in which side of the lookout post is in light, and which is in shadow, without any crush. Just a lot more clarity. The vanilla game is very washed out by default.
