Don't forget to use the Papyrus Utils SSE version compatible with your version of SKSE & Skyrim binaries. Papyrus Utils should always install at last and overwrite your mods.
Hey, so uhm. When I add this mod, and I go to my inventory, my game crashes to desktop. It MIGHT be that I did not actually overwrite the files... buuut i have no idea how to do that with this new Vortex thingy. If somebody could tell me how to overwrite stuff with Vortex like we could do in NMM, that would be awesome.
EDIT: Just realised that "overwriting" with Vortex is just the load order. With that in mind, I have no idea what causes my game to crash when going into the inventory, but it has definitely to do with this mod, since it does not happen when I remove it.
So I will need to install the newly updated papyrusutil file from here? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13048?tab=files
Do I also need the address library? I am a PC gamer and campfire and frostfall are the only mods I want to play with a dependency on papyrusutil. Being honest I tend to use uncomplicated mods with few dependencies or conflict, mods that are easy to install and manage. I only very recently got this fix to work, and it took a lot of time and frustration. It was such a joy to have a functioning frostfall again! Now I'm having to stumble my way through this again and I still feel out of my depth. The AE update hasn't made it any easier for me to understand how tools like papyrusutil and address library work.
Also, is it true that the new papyrusutil makes AE less CTD prone? Because it's a real pain when LOOT says everything is fine yet I keep crashing just running around the overworld.
( make sure you download the right versions for your game version ! )
Make sure Steam is running before launching Skyrim !
Launch Skyrim through skse64_loader.exe
Start Frostfall by using MCM ( can take some time before MCM recognizes "new menu" )
Select a widget layout in Frostfall ( if you don't do that, the widgets for Cold, Warmth, Wet etc. are stuck in your upper left screen corner )
Give a big thank you (and Kudos) to Sthaagg and Dracotorre for the initial tutorial and this mod ! Cheers -=DD=- [EDIT] : Updated installation instructions Dec. 6th 2021
That's just the kind of for-dummies step-by-step I needed, thank you so much, will be sure to thank Sthaagg and Dracotorre as well.
EDIT: I just installed all the mods in the order recommended by the guide, but when I tried to launch SKSE I got the following error message: "a DLL plugin has failed to load correctly. If a new version of Skyrim was just release, it probably needs to be updated. PapyrusUtil.dll: disabled, address library needs to be updated"
So it looks like I would need address library as well, after all? EDIT2: installing address library seemed to do the trick. Everything seems to work just as it should in-game, and it's even reassigned some of my hotkeys for campfire automatically! This is really neat because I hadn't been able to assign mod hotkeys since AE, it would lock me in the system menu.
Yeah, Address Library is a required mod for PapyrusUtil SE, so you are correct in needing that I've updated the instructions accordingly, thanks for the heads-up. Have a Kudo !
Glad to see you've got it to work, and even better than expected ( which is always nice )
For everyone that's getting the failed to write/read error:
You need to let Papyrusutil overwrite this mod. This means having Papyrusutil lower (not numerically, as in visually lower) in MO2, or having it load after in Vortex.
Yeah i am having a issue that settings for clothing armor protection dont save once I close the game they reset >.> I have everything install including SSE fixes which is optional o.o Everything else is working pretty fine other than this <.< Is there a way too fix this o.O
I keep getting the "Frostfall failed to read/write your settings profile, which is required... blah blah blah instructions." I followed the blah blah blah instructions and it did not work, so I found a thread on reddit and followed its instructions. Same result. Then I followed the instructions on this thread. Same result. At this point I have removed and reinstalled the mods like 20 times each. I have the patch installed. I have no idea what else I can do to fix this. Is this mod just broke since the latest Bathesda screwover patch?
Guys, I justfigured out the solution for the Read/Write Error and no stats showing for warmth or coverage in menus or MCM. Deleted a 30hr save after finding out my Frostfall wasn't even working right, then downloaded this mod only to realize the problem was still there and the uploader's repeat suggesting of making sure load order was correct didn't help (using Vortex I'm still not even sure moving load order is possible after numerous attempts).
Found out that even if you're playing Skyrim: Special Edition on Steam, if it's updated to the latest version, it's going to be 1.6+, which as far as mods are concerned, counts as "Anniversary Edition", or "AE", when downloading mod files. I deleted my SKSE Address Library for SE version 1.5 and installed the AE 1.6 version instead. Did the same for my Papyrus Extender, deleted it from Vortex then reinstalled and chose the AE install this time. Same for PapyrusUtility SE, deleted the version 3.9 for SE and installed the version 4.4 for AE instead, now after fixing those 3 mods everything works perfectly. No read/write Frostfall error, not even the Wearable Lanterns error that I was also getting until I figured this out. Only took me 10+ hrs of staying up all night digging through old forum threads to find out, but I'd seriously almost given up on playing Skyrim altogether right before discovering all this, so I'm happy.
After 2,000+ hrs of vanilla, Skyrim these days just isn't worth playing without the survival elements and creation club Survival Mode isn't compatible with tons of mods, so a fix for this was the only option. Hope it helps some of you guys.
Except that's not an answer because Ghoulmaster didn't specify that he used AE mod versions for SE version of Skyrim, so no one had any idea that would help them with their Special Edition. We were left to assume that he simply fixed his AE Skyrim by RE-downloading and RE-installing AE mods, not trying them instead...
But I'm glad you waited to respond to everyone after I'd already cleared up the issue for them.
Hey Verisco can you help me out with your fix? I have Address Library for AE ver 11.0, PapyrusUtil SE (AE) ver 4.6, Papyrus Extender for AE ver 5.9, all installed and the most recent versions of Campfire and Frostfall. When I install the patch via MO2 I get the Read/Write error, without it Frostfall runs but my armors have no coverage or warmth and don't save configurations made through inspect equipment. Do I need to manually install the contents of the patch into Campfire and Frostfall for it to work properly if my Address Library and my script extenders are the most up to date?
The Papyrus Extender!!! IT WAS THE DAMNED EXTENDER THIS WHOLE TIME! https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22854 Nowhere did it say that I needed that one bit until you mentioned it! Your fix is the ONLY one that worked after Hours of trying to find the damn answer. I Kept reading people saying that something's overwriting Papyrus itself when that was obviously not the case! The load order is correct, the before \ after priorities have been checked and rechecked hundreds of times. The God Damned Papyrus Extender was the issue this whole bloody time! Your post was from 2013 but I could find you right now and kiss you! THANK YOU!
It uses more up to date scripts by the author of campfire and frostfall, it will prevent skills from disappearing from the power menu when restarting the game (if that happens you have to reset campfire for them to reappear), and you can configure frostfall from the mcm and not from the power dialogue box
When trying to access the inventory it CTD. Using Vortex. Ive checked and rechecked and checked again my load order. Camping, Frostfall, Patch, Papyrus. Still crashing. If I remove the .swf files as mentioned in one of the posts, the CTD stop, but then I cant access menus like the smelter. Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm really confused - what does this mod actually do? I'm using https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/667 and https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/671 and they both work perfectly fine and have been for at least 200 hours?
everything works fine for me. (all the mechanics and functions)
except a visual element. When I lie down on "rough bedding" character will disrobe (so far so good) all items are placed next to them. For whatever reason this doesn't happen in the tent (even though I've toggled these "on" for inside the tent. It's a minor immersion thing, but I can't figure out why unless it's a bare exposed bedroll my Dragonborn insists on sleeping in their armour despite being inside a cozy fur tent.

Without it - Papyrus by itself can't get the job done.
