Allies of the Realm! A demi-plane of darkness rises! After 6 years of peace, a child-realm to our Realm of Lorkhan has been born. The plane is known as "The Void", a place of cruelty and deprivation! You can see it for yourself, but be warned! Many who have gone through have not returned...
Friends, in my customary way I was absent for a long time, and then returned with a fiery craftsman's passion to blast out a new creation that I hope will excite and consume you.
The Void is a second realm, designed for hard-core difficulty play. It includes a lot of feedback I've gotten from hard-core players of Skyrim who did not adopt Realm of Lorkhan as their #1 choice because it was too generous, too kind, and too "easy". Many times I rebuked your feedback, until this scorn built up like a well of magma!
(Well, really I wanted to keep the design philosophy of "free choice and total player control" paramount in the Realm of Lorkhan, but that's less of a story to tell.)
After I died in an explosion of lava, I was reincarnated as a small mushroom man. I quickly set to work, dancing on my keyboard with the Creation Kit open. My little toes were sore, my mushroom-cap weak and tilted... but it was done. The Void had been opened.
Take a look, I think it's pretty good! It should be an improvement that I'm sure many of you will use. I'm definitely going to be using it from now on.
So where does that leave Realm of Lorkhan? It's still my baby. It's still my labor of love, that I spent perhaps a thousand hours perfecting to my vision. And it will not change, because it doesn't need to change, because it is complete. There, I said it, it's done.
Of course it makes sense for me to update Realm of Lorkhan when I want to update the Perks, and if I do more perks, I'll likely bring them through Realm of Lorkhan first. So consider "Realm of Lorkhan" the stomping grounds, my workshop, while "The Void" is its child (who is going through an emo phase--sorry, not a phase--that's how it will be always).
As always, much love! Skyrim Forever!
FAQ / Troubleshooting Realm of Lorkhan First of all, I'm sorry. You're here because I messed up, or because you think I messed up. Modding is tricky, and it's ridiculous that apes like us can operate a chopstick, let alone a computer.
Following are some of the common issues that I've inflicted on thousands upon thousands of people. Again, sorry. Problem: My guy has iron armor on in character creation!
Solution: You need to decide what's more important to you: Having a seamless character creation scene, or having other mods affect the Player. It's usually the latter, because you'll have a mod that affects gameplay balance and the Player which is important. When this happens, I recommend to just pick your race and skip through character creation. Then, take off your helmet, and use console 'showracemenu' to pop open character creation again. The armor happens because another mod is overwriting my edits to Player that make them naked at start. And that's fine, since you will usually prefer to have their changes, although they didn't consider making the Player naked. Problem: The game is still starting with the carriage scene!
Solution: This is the main type of conflict that I hear about. First, make sure that Realm of Lorkhan is enabled as a plugin in Vortex. If it is, then you're having a mod conflict. The conflict happens because another mod is interfering with the necessary changes that Realm of Lorkhan must make to the intro quest, and related characters. You'll need to identify other mods you have that affect Helgen, and set Realm of Lorkhan to load after them. It's specifically MQ100 and MQ101 that are essential to how the mod works.
Problem: My bug is something outside of the character creation sequence (after leaving the Realm)!
Solution: This is where things get tricky, and where I can't provide a simple solution. It usually is not actually Realm of Lorkhan that is your problem here, if you are experiencing issues after character creation. People don't respond well when I say this, but it's the honest truth. Your problems are unlikely to be related to Realm of Lorkhan.
Problem: My bug happens inside the Realm, but you didn't mention it above!
Solution: Post a comment here! You're likely to get a response by other players who can help identify the issue. I usually step in only after the problem has been identified fully.
Problem: Why don't you [insert fix here]?
Solution: Honestly, because unless I am inconvenienced myself by a bug, I am unlikely to fix it. I'm a selfish, selfish man who has somehow deluded himself into performing hundreds of hours of community service.
posting for anyone having CTD or stuck at menu, In my case "Helgen Rebuilt" prevented me from starting new game and I believe "Relics of Hyrule" was causing constant crashes with ROL. took off both those mods (helgen rebuilt and RoH) and its been running smooth with almost 900 mods.
Hey can we just start in prisoner rags instead of Iron armor? Makes it harder to see my character and it's anoyying to have to remove all the armor, then go into race menu with console commands and actually make my character
Maybe it's all my other mods but for some reason the Priestess of Arkay shows in the subtitles like she's saying Stormcloak soldier lines. There is no sound so you would miss this without subtitles like I first did. Also she was the only NPC to attack me due to my Sacrosanct stage four vampirism although she was quickly dispatched by the nearby Imperial two handed trainer.
So I have been using RoL for a while now and its my favorite start mod. But this time around my brother suggested we rebuild the pack again. And use vortex instead of MO2 so we could use a collection as a base. Just a simple one with some of the modding essentials. Though after building the whole pack and loading in to test it. I spawn in Lorkhan, make a character, confirm the character, then get prompted with a box. Asking me to pick between Hadvar and Ralof, before warping me to helgan. And making me do the tutorial of the game. I have scowered my mod list up and down. I can't seem to find any other start mods. I am utterly stumped and exhausted right now. So I guess I will turn the load order over here in hopes ANYONE. can spot whats messing up my Lorkhan.
Edit: FOUND IT! We installed something called ezPG. Which has a built in alt start called redux.
Hi! I really like this mod but I feel like I can't use any of the curses or boons because every time I do my character has these weird visual effects that won't go away. Is there some way to get rid of the visual effects?
Is there a possible patch that removes every NPC in the lorkhan realm? I got mods that in facts NPC scripts and the NPCs in the realm just get in the way.
Love the mod but found a slight issue. Every time I use the teleport back to Lorkhan spell my game crashes and the crashlogs seem to indicate that a conflict with Lux is the reason, even though I have the Lux patch from the Lux Patcher FOMOD installed. Not the biggest deal, but figured it was worth mentioning as I have been able to consistently replicate the crash
I'm actually glad someone else is having a similar problem. I'm in the testing phase of ruling out problem mods, and the Lux patch for RoL, as well as Faster HDT-SMP seem to crash after teleporting, at least per crash logs and the analyzer. I'm not really fond of removing FSMP, but I'm aware of its instability. I'm also running the "best of both worlds" VR setup (using latest SkyrimSE.esm and free CC) using InfernalRyan's Game Master Update Guide.
Have you done any further testing to rule anything else out? Or found a solution short of removing the above mods?
EDIT: I ended up removing FSMP and any mods that rely on it. I managed to play a ton of of the game without freezing between exterior cell loads, however upon ending my sesh, I teleported back to Lorkhan and crashed soon as it tried to load into it. I use Poached Bugs mod for the VR version, and will be testing the setting "ArmorWeightPerkEntryPoint" (the mod prefix actually not being part of the setting). I'll be back.
