Sofia was created 8 years ago and after all this time I have no real interest in keeping her updated. As a follower she was always fully finished and most reported bugs were either user error or mod conflicts so she should work just fine. However it's important to keep her updated and working alongside all the latest mods so I give permission to release unofficial patches and have now uploaded Sofia's source code as a separate download.
I highly recommend you check out the Sofia Bug and Patch Hub by mattski123 here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/70950 You should also post any bugs you are having over there and he may be able to create a patch for it.
Does anyone know if this is compatible with Nether's Follower Framework (NFF)? The only issue I have with Sofia is that she follows me like a lost puppy, while other companions will sit, lean, and interact with benches nearby. Although Sofia can do this as well, she only initiates those actions after being idle for some time.
I'm asking because NFF adds a slot into the framework, allowing Sofia to function as a companion under NFF. I'm concerned whether it overwrites any scripts, as I want to avoid any potential issues down the line that could corrupt the game due to script incompatibility if I decide to import her under NFF.
Perhaps someone can clarify? I have the same doubt as well.
I have tried playing with her on the team using NFF (vanilla follow, no regard system, vanilla combat, etc.), but I no longer see those "I have something to say" voice during my travel with her unlike prior to importing to NFF.
FYI, she sometimes have something to say during travel and if we initiated a dialogue with her, there's a new option to her what she has to say, well, asking funny questions most likely. I no longer see this after NFF.
Edit: Don't import her into NFF. Info base on this mod.
She is not compatible, as far as I know, complex followers like Sofia, vilja, ashe, are not compatible, I use NFF and I remember once I imported her, the resulta was destroying her behavior ending acting like a robot.
Core Features - Up to 10 Followers (flexible, can be humanoids or animals). - No starter bow or arrows. - Support for Serana (doesn't override Dawnguard scripted features, such as sandboxing). - Support for Sofia (short time after intro dialogue has completed).
So I married Sofia and now she won't follow me anymore, the "follow me" dialog is still there and she responds and agrees, then does nothing, just keeps milling about at home. I use NFF and she no longer appears in the Follower Framework.
My favorite follower of all time, thanks for this amazing mod, and so many years of fun. A little story you may hate: I have been using Sofia with the CHIM mod (artificial intelligence), and with it I can expand even more my gameplay with her (configuring inside the mod, the best matching personality for her that I can). Some people hate IA implementation, but for me it brings Sofia to life. And my other favorite follower Vilja, watching them interacting, those two oposite personalities is like a dream for my favorite game of all time.
everyone here is aware this mod is probably older then you are right? i wouldn't look for designer changes here. ya may want to ask nicely and and see if they will allow you to update this to 2025 parameters copy rights permitting
Sofias follower behaviour has borked for some reason. Even when she is a follower, she just walks of and starts heading home, teleports back to me then heads off home again. Any ideas ? if i hit her reset in the MCM menu for her does that mean shes back in Whiterun stables and i have to progress with her all over again because we married now.
Is there a way to give Sofia expressions? I always include Sofia in every play through, typically with a different pretty replacer, she becomes a house carl occasionally when her comments become too repetitive. Playing in VR the welcoming smiles that Auri and Cybell give are wonderful but make it so obvious that they are missing from Sofia. Sofia should have lots of expressions to match her comments.
I mean it's technically possible but you would have to go through each line in the Creation Kit and assign them. It's not difficult but I have no plans to.
Fair enough, I expect its lots of work to do, hopefully someday I will have the time to learn and see what's involved. Thanks for replying and for providing such a funny follower!!!
Never understood that. If a voice actor no longer wants to add lines, why should they stop others from enjoying the game by forbidding ai replacement ?
EXACTLY. This is a huge issue. Hollywood in particular has used actors' voices or even appearance without permission, and given a chance would probably use generative-AI instead of having to pay real actors at all. Go look for a movie called Looker; it explores exactly this scenario.
Because it isn't your Voice. If someone would take your Voice and use AI to say something that might potentially be against your ideals... I wonder how you'd feel.
It's probably just a simple issue of the voice actor not wanting her voice saying things she didn't approve. Actors turn roles down because they don't approve of being identified with them all the time. Slagman's voice is very distinctive, so I think it's just polite to respect her wishes.
Neither I nor the voice actor for Sofia have made any statement about the use of AI to create new lines. I think in this case it more comes down to misuse like making her say really weird s#*! for adult mods or whatever. That would be going way beyond what was originally agreed. Making Sofia greet other followers though for example is totally different. Obviously using her voice outside of the Sofia mod is a definite no.

Other than that, great companion mod.
