As of version 1.3, all NPCs are killable. Children may also be turned killable through the MCM menu (experimental - for some reason they end up with no head sometimes).
Please do let me know if you find a NPC that is invulnerable (that is, cannot be hit by a spell) so that I can add him to the MCM menu. Other than that, the mod currently fulfills all of the objectives, which is to be able to kill every NPC without affecting any other mods.
What's up with the unlootable ashes? for some reason Skjor is protected by a quest for me and unkillable, and just standing there like a lemon in Gallows Rock, not letting me loot his wolf armor.
Glad you enjoyed the mod, but indeed there is no way to bring them back... You may try to spawn specific NPCs through console commands, but thats about it.
You know if you like the idea... Could we make the same mod but only if you cast a spell on a lock that's impossibly to pick(quest related) and then it switches it's difficulty level to Master so we can actually pick it if we don't plan on doing that quest line and just wanna explore. And call the spell something like: "Examine the lock".
Honestly I don't know where it comes from, but it's a ridiculous bug.
Also on Skyrim Together there's no way you can show up with a single player modlist online because: 1.You will think the game works fine initially, until you encounter other players. 2.You gonna slide a lot for other players because you had a goddamn behavior mods enabled, and these break animation sync. 3.Engine Fixes will be disabled and you will be getting stuck on loading... A lot. 4.You will look stupid weird to other players because your custom body meshes don't sync(Female human - Argonian hybrid). 5.Your own followers will start attacking you in battles because cloak spell bugs out. 6.You will be crashing other player because of your werewolf overhaul/enchanting mod/vampire overhaul. 7.The console will start spamming errors because 70% of your mods are ESP-FE and STR currently doesn't sync those. 8.You'll forget to disable creation club, most of which is ESP-FE and every creature that it spawns will crash you. 9.You will try some new lands mod with your buddy and it's gonna desync/crash. 10.You will crash meeting other players because their hair mod conflicts with fix for beards you have installed. 11.Your 20 followers from your follower framework will leave you because the game switched their hosting to another player. 12.It's gonna crash every 5 minutes(20 if you're lucky), because your modlist uses a lot of different scripted mods. 13.Your game won't even start because smooth cam bugged out.
i'm in the process of looking for something to deal with these annoying invulnerable unkillable questgiving essential #$% NPCs.. out of all the mods on the skyrim se page, i am finding this one is most effective. this mod is not 100% what i want. its creating ash piles and making the npcs disappear. the ashpiles can be examined but there is no loot in them, i would expect the npc gear to be there. that seems reasonable. this mod is making the npcs disappear and go invisible, (which is fine, its a work-around). but my npc thralls are attacking them, even though they are disappeared and effectively gone. i saved the game after destroying the ashpiled npcs, and when i reloaded the npcs were back just like normal, not dead or disappeared. (which is fine too ! that can be a good thing, if you want to return to them later to fulfill the quest)/ but what i really want is a simple straight to the point kill npc essential or quest giver. i want them to die just like anyone else like the common bandit of skyrim. that is most ideal.. i will accept any workarounds, such as this mod, until that dream becomes a reality.
there is a mod that i use that lets you kill children, no spells, no tricks, you walk up them slam them with your sword their dead, just like a dog or a chicken. then you can loot them just like anything, dead thrall them or whatever. you can run an orphanage of dead thrall children if you want. this is the most ideal format for a "KILL essential NPC"
It is odd that your followers keep attacking an invisible NPC. In practise, what happens with this mod is that enemies that cannot be killed due to these essential rules are converted to ash piles and the original body is made invisible and teleported away to an unreachable cell. It seems that somehow the NPC is not being teleported to this cell properly if I understand correctly?
Concerning the loot part, I guess it is because they are not truly dead, so the game does not add its items to it. I am not modding Skyrim currently to fix this.
i picked up Serana the npc follower. i got tired of her goth whining and drama so i tried to remove/slay her. i tried your mod, she is not affected by spells. i looked in your MCM menu. i did not see the NPC serana to click so i could target her.
i ended up using this console command, SetUnconscious 1. disables permanently any npc (until i set their unconscious to 0), even serana. im trying to have an immersive skyrim experience, all these invincible npcs are really ruining it for me,
This mod is so cathartic, I recently downloaded a certain mod that adds new NPCs to the game and the mod creators did the annoying thing of making them essential because they give you quests, instead of just making you fail those quests, and, as if that wasn't bad enough one of the NPCs is extremely rude as if it knows it is essential and therefore immortal, so it gets to say whatever it wants.
I get it that the mod creator was trying to go for a type of redemption arch story, or something, but, my take is that not everyone gets to have a redemption arch, be it in reality or in a fantasy medieval world, you can be as edgy as you want, but you won't survive being stupid enough to insult a god-like man in full demonic armor, armed to the teeth with legendary weapons, at that point you are just asking to be sent to sovngarde.
While the mod itself is a nice addition to my mod collections I want to share some information I found out about this mod:
The mod indeed adds spell which so far has obliterated every NPC but it does not kill them. What I mean by this is that if you have quest to KILL someone, who is essential or protected, (additional content by other mods ofc) it does not count as killing. They just turn to ashes and quest arrow keeps pointing the ashes/remains of that obliterated NPC.
Sometimes, it is not actually possible to kill the NPC when they are invulnerable/essential due to some quests. In that case they turn to ashes and the real body is transported to Oblivion. In other words, they are not actually killed, which is what I think you experienced?
necesito ayuda i am roleplaying un asesino y este mod es exactamente lo que estaba buscando, pero cuando mato a un npc esencial, por ejemplo, farkas, se convierte en cenizas y luego revive de nuevo.
We can only speak in English in the forums as per Nexus rules (I believe). With respect to what you are referring to, if Farkas is being turned to ashes is because he is flagged as essential by something. As such, he is converted to ashes and teleported to another cell outside of the "real" world. I am not sure what in your game might be resurrecting him or teleporting him back to you.
