On October 20, 2023 we received a message from DarthVitrial, who is "assisting the USSEP team", asking us for permission to include our reference fixes into USSEP (basically, half of our mod). First of all, our mod has never been recommended by them, in fact, its exactly the opposite, despite our fixes being real and valuable, their team has immediately proven hostile towards us. Evidently, four years later, they too have come to the same conclusion that many have already come to for a long time, even my 6 year old nephew would have come to it in a couple of days, I repeat, it took them 4 years, so they finally understood the goodness and the real usefulness of SLaWF. Despite this late demonstration of esteem, lilebonymace and I have decided that throwing away years of work, especially to make a gift to the USSEP team, did not have much sense and so we kindly declined their offer. But as you know, you can't teach an old dog new tricks and starting from USSEP v4.3.1 now they are deliberately "borrowing" thousands of our fixes to introduce them into their mod - the large batches (or "megatickets") of fixes by DarthVitrial that you can find in the USSEP changelogs in "Placement/Layout/Ownership and other World Object Fixes" category coincidentally almost entirely consist of bugs that SLaWF fixes. In USSEP v4.3.1 alone those batches contain more than 900 same fixes, not counting fixes for duplicate references. Yes, they're not simply copied - since we didn't give permission, they decided to remake the same fixes from scratch. Often in a very clumsy way - around 250 fixes from those 900+ are either incomplete, break something else or have other issues. Even those fixes that don't have any objective issues are often lower effort and looking worse. Evidently they have not even understood our fixes very well or are not able to do a clean and functional job, perhaps they were really in a hurry to include our fixes.
All this is forcing us to fix the mess they are making, in few words, for us it's only a big waste of time. In SLaWF v8.7 we introduced the optional plugin with v1.5.97-only fixes to which all fixes successfully replicated by the latest USSEP updates will be moved, and so far we have checked most of the USSEP v4.3.1 update. We have yet to process some remaining fixes from USSEP v4.3.1, process USSEP v4.3.2 and the remaining conflicts. This will take some time and we ask you to be patient, since going through hundreds of fixes, checking and fully removing them without any traces takes a lot of time (probably more than for them to replicate these fixes). Until all of this is done, please don't report conflicts with USSEP where only the position/rotation/size are conflicting, we will check all of them eventually. It's unlikely that the remaining conflicts can cause any noticeable issues, but if they do, report it to us. We will also continue to work on new fixes.
This post has the sole purpose of informing you of what is happening, its not a complaint, its not a request of any kind, we do not want to take any action against the USSEP team, SLaWF will continue to depend on their mod as long as it is necessary, we are kind but not stupid and the big problem is that someone feels like they own Skyrim, but Skyrim belongs to everyone who decides to play it, any version. We kindly ask you not to post anything in the post section, any comment related to this matter will be deleted immediately. If you like drama go to Reddit, the undisputed kingdom of those who have nothing better to do than gossip about anything but if you want to discuss about everything with us do it privately or in our Discord channels. I forgot to say that if we write certain things we also have all the evidence.
The USSEP team must have mistaken us for a supermarket, they go shopping at SLaWF market
"Skyrim Landscape and Water Fixes 9.3" works perfectly for me, and I haven't noticed any issues so far.
Now I'm at Eli's "Ruska - Riften Player Home" and I see a lot of unfinished seams "with looks into the sky" near the water -and a hilly area in the middle of the veranda on the land side. Load-order doesn't change anything
Ruska was created 2018 SLaWF began 2019. Does anyone have a patch or can create one?
My understanding isn't good enough to fix this yet!
Hi, I noticed this wall (DwePlatMid01) everytime I open a door northwest of the Proudspire Manor, can that be adjusted a bit so when the door opens it won't show. formID is FE05AEE2
Hello WiZkiD, I am contacting you because I noticed a change in the ground level when going towards Bleak Falls Barrow, when the road starts to get snowy. With version 8.9 I get a snowy and non-snowy part with a clear line that I do not have with version 8.5. Thanks to a tutorial I was able to identify an object that is located in one of the areas concerned: BASE FORM ID: 000A731D REF FORM ID: 00024F31 CELL: 3, -10
Spoiler:
Show
I don't know if others have noticed this. Anyway, a huge thanks for your work. :)
I noticed one thing : - With the 8.5 version the landscape is affected by Water for ENB.esm, Verdant.esp, Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods.esp, Water for ENB - Patch - Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods.esp - With the 8.9 by Landscape and Water Fixes.esp, Water for ENB.esm, Verdant.esp, Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods.esp, Landscape and Water Fixes - Patch LFfGM.esp, Water for ENB - Patch - Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods.esp I don't know if it's important to mention.
I made a comparison between the snowy landscape and the one that is not. The first one is only affected by Landscape for Water Fixes.esp and Landscape and Water Fixes - Patch LFfGM.esp. So I tried to change my load order: with Landscape and Water Fixes - Patch LFfGM.esp after Water for ENB - Patch - Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods.esp everything is fine.
ok ok, i back, sadly if you put the "Landscape and Water Fixes - Patch LFfGM.esp" in below of modlist you solve the landscape issue near Bleak Falls Barrow, but you will will breake the landscape in Elysium Estate
Elysium Estate also conflicts with Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods, the only solution would be to create a patch for Skyrim Landscape and Water Fixes, one for Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods and a combo patch between the three, a very complicated situation, often you are forced to choose whether to keep the fixes or the mod you like
Hello, sorry to bother you again. I hadn't noticed that placing the Landscape and Water patch - LFfGM.esp after the Water patch for ENB - Patch - Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods.esp generated seams on Lake Ilinalta.
I tried to fix this problem myself with SSEEdit, but without success. I admit I don't understand what modifications can unify the lake's surface. If anyone can guide me on what to do, I'd be grateful.
Edit : I switched back to 8.5 version until I figure out how to solve this behaviour. :)
I really don't know how to help you without having your entire load order at hand, many people have similar problems and in 100% of cases it's a problem of incorrect positioning of assets or plugins
by only looking at the plugins it is not possible to understand where the problem is, in these cases, knowing how to use SSEEdit decently is fundamental, furthermore the assets also have their relevance, knowing what overwrites what is important
I tried to remove the mod and this bug was eliminated. I tried to arrange it in different loading order and through TESEdit it does not overwrite anything. Specifically this object in the mod landscape and water fix. Object - lawf_MountaincliffslopeFrozenMarshIce01Snow Maybe it can be removed somehow?
I've used BDS3/MM for several years and I've never seen this, but I was also not using parallax at the time. So maybe there is something parallax related...
You both mentioned Auto Parallax, so I'm assuming you are both using Parallax? If so, maybe there is a possible conflict somewhere with your textures/mesh, or you are missing parallax textures/mesh.
I ran into similar issues when converting my load order over to parallax, it took me a few weeks to sort through it, and a lot of it had to do with moving some of the load order around for the mods.
If you're using an ENB, be sure to check the Parallax settings.
muddyw No, many users have the same configuration as you without encountering the slightest problem, when it comes to parallax many users encounter problems simply because they have made mistakes that are often trivial but difficult to find.
Im not parallax user. IMO its not parallax related bug. And its not user error. I tested basic combo on clean steam and gog install like USSEP, MM, BDS3, SLAWF a dozen times. No matter how you arrange your LO some meshes will have this shader bug. Mod is great and 100% combatibile when not using MM/BDS3, thats why many users are not reporting anything. Imo 8.0 is the last safe choice for MM/BDS3 users. I have not encountered any problems. This is not a rant, I always was a big fan of this mod :D
I solved an identical issue on September 25th by setting a nif file in Majestic Mountains to Hidden. I just encountered the OP's issue tonight just south of the entrance of Folgunthur on rocks named: lawf_MountainCliffSlopeFrozenMarshIce01Snow I resolved it by hiding MountainCliffSlope.nif in Majestic Mountains under meshes, Landscape, mountains. I hope this solution helps someone.
hello, i'm having a similar issue. For me its the Mountain Texture next to the road to Kynesgrove. im using MMCM, swalf and atlantean complete. I think the problematic nif is Rockcliff02. I saw people talking about hiding the nif in MM. Do you mean hiding in explorer? Or do you do that via ssedit.? i tried deleting rockcliff02 ect but the issue still peresists. Funny thing is, with SLAWF VERSIOn 8.4. everything looks like its supposed to look. But every version after that, has the white texture/ parallax bug. Maybe someone knows how so solve it. Cheers
I also have the same issue with the rocks on the way to Kynesgrove.
I've placed SLaWF at the very top on the left side of MO2, and all the way down towards the bottom, with no changes. I have PX, and have the correct boxes checked, and have MM w/ PX. If I remove either this mod or MM, the issue disappears.
I understand that wizkid34 feels this is user error, and I do not disagree. However, that does not resolve the issue that out of the box, with simple LOs and straight forward setups, I, and others, can't get this mod to play nicely, despite really wanting it to, and having a decade of mod experience. There is also not a sticky of a resolution that works, since so many have had this issue.
I would love it if we as a community could band together and find a resolution to be able to point future modders to.
Is there a reason why most of the crash logs I get mention this mod? I don't think it's caused by this mod since it just fixes gaps in the land but for some reason I sometimes get a crash, like right now after dying and reloading the game, it mentions this mod and some others, and it occurred to me the amount of times I see Landscape and Water Fixes mentioned.
I don't have a screenshot ready but there is actually another gap in Embershard Mine I've always noticed, to the left of the chest that's halfway up the back wall in the big room with the bridge.
I don't know if it can help but for mods I have in that order : my landscapes mod, a grass mod and a snow mod. Below them I have Landscape fixes for grass mods and its related patches, followed by Skyrim landscape and water fixes, Water for ENB and Complementary grass fixes. For plugins I have in that order : Landscape and water fixes, my grass mod plugin, Landscape fixes for grass mods, Complementary grass fixes. They are followed by several Landscape and water fixes plugins and finally the Landscape and water fixes - Patch - LFfGM. Maybe you can try to sort your lists to fit this order ?

Now we can say that we are USSEP co-authors

It doesn't look like there's anything in Assorted Mesh Fixes Parallax, but it's still good to have. Maybe using Majestic Mountains Complex Material will help.

Under the river in Ivarstead and in Embershard Mine.
The console says these rocks were edited by Skyrim Landscape and Water Fixes.

Also having issues outside of Folgunthur. Spot in the load order didn't impact this. When the mod is disabled, this does not occur.
Outside Kynesgrove
Disabling or removing Skyrim Landscape and Water Fixes resolves the problem.
Any ideas?

Which moutain mod are you using ? I'm using ERM.
